The match struggled to catch fire but in the space of ten minutes the fans (more so the visiting section) were entertained as Blues skipper, Jerome Kaino bashed over from close range before a stinging counter showed the class of the Blues. Ihaia West brought the ball back before a good offload from George Moala put Tevita Li away for the score.

The home side found themselves trailing 17-3 but put in a much improved effort in the second stint. The Force dominated most aspect of the game in the second stint. Matt Hodgson was able to convert pressure into points as he wrestled over the line.

Hodgson and his charger continued to hold the upperhand but the Blues defence almost miraculously held firm to secure a narrow 17-13 away victory.
