Kash Patel was not only appointed to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation but also the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). However, he hasn't been seen at his second gig.
NBC News reporter Ken Dilanian posted on X that Patel has lost the job after he ghosted the bureau.
"FBI Director Kash Patel has been removed from his role as acting director of the ATF, and the job has been given to Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, two Justice Department officials and another," Dilanian wrote, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the NBC justice and intelligence correspondent, "Sources say Patel had not been seen inside an ATF facility for weeks."
"ATF officials who learned the news today were shocked and confused, the two DoJ officials said, and no explanation for the change was given," the reporter continued.
When he reached out to the DOJ and Patel with questions, they went unanswered, he wrote.
Driscoll will reportedly continue serving as the Secretary of the Army and will now take over the ATF.
"Both roles are normally considered full-time jobs," noted Dilanian.
