Apparently, she is already getting letters of no confidence from other Tory politicians.

The UK pound has fallen lower than ever... She won't be able to honey badger her way out of this...

We could see Rishi Sunak take her job quickly. People are questioning if she has any idea what she is doing economically.

Also, it seems that the only thing she has done so far (except crash the pound) is make the richest 1% even richer. She is clearly a believer in trickle-down economics.

Britain is in a mess politically.     The fact is that to be PM of the UK is not an easy job.   The only successful really good PM's the UK had since WW2 were Churchill and Thatcher - the rest was from  a political point of view weak and in some cases corrupt.

The Conservative Party is divided into two wings - the centrists and the ,right wing elements.   In the end that divide is destructive and leads to weak leadership.

By the way in a debate in Parliament Lady Astor said to Churchill:  "you are drink"   "I may be drunk but you are ugly.    The difference is tomorrow I will be sober".

I've seen suggestions she might sack Kwarteng as a scapegoat.

If she stays on the same fiscal course her own party and the public will turn on her. If she U-turns it will be seen as weak leadership and she doesn't know what she's doing, damned if she does and damned if she doesn't...but its a mess of her own making.

Labour have a large poll lead at the moment and honeymoon period is already over for Truss. Polling also currently shows the public think Starmer is a better leader than Truss and that Labour can be better trusted with the economy, something that hasn't happened in a very long time.

The one aspect where Starmer was seen as weak compared to Johnson was personality. He was boring compared to Johnson. But Truss is just as dull if not more so than Starmer.

Stav

Why is the economy of the UK - like in most EU countries as well - in a tailspin?

The same reasons + poorer handling of covid + Brexit + their mini budget announced on Friday tanking the pound.

So Quasi-modo the finance minister has been fired. Liz Truss may survive, but unlikely for long.

Jeremy Hunt has been appointed as finance minister. It is likely he will take over from Truss, assuming she steps down. That would block Sunak. Sunak seems a bit too far left for the conservative elite.

CM,

Churchill in one of his speeches was told by a women in the audience that if he was the only man in the world she would never marry him.

His reply was that he agreed with the women and suggested that she would most probably be killed in the rush to marry him, paused looked at her and added "Thankfully".

Got to give it to the man for his wit.

Wonderful what two shots a day of JW and the cigars did for him.

Well, she was utterly useless. Resigned, but she was also pushed out.

Her plans were to make the rich richer, but she crashed the UK economy by making tax cuts for the rich. It rubbished the UK currency, and only the Bank of England were able to save it from being worse.
