Here's a question to the Christians...

When you post things like...

What is the purpose?

A) Converting non-believers ; surely you know this isn't gonna happen here...nobody has even been converted on Ruckers.

B) A guilt trip; If people don't believe in God then why would they feel guilty.

C) A reminder of God's love; If they don't believe in God then they wouldn't have experienced "his love" so you can't remind them of something they don't know.

D) Spreading the word; Could be true if you believe that you get points for each time you spread the word...though how many points should deducted if you know that your message is landing on deaf ears?

E) Showing us you're better because you know God; Siding with your chosen religion places you, in your mind, above people since they're not pleasing the master as you are. But would a God want you to feel like you're better than others and/or make hem feel bad that they're not going to heaven like you?

So, serious question...what is the point of such posts? I've given 5 possible reasons that I can think of, and perhaps I missed some.

Do enlighten me.

He was either a deluded false lunatic, or indeed the true Messiah (Saviour). He is either telling the absolute truth or the most despicable conman that ever lived...not some good man or false one.

When you read the scriptures and thoughtfully examine them and in what He said and did, there is no middle road.

His Son has been given to mankind as a FREE gift, we can either accept it or reject it, He never barges in or gate-crashes and forces your will, He's a gentleman, it's a gift, you can accept or reject it.

It's not a product or religion per se but indeed a new way of LIFE. It sets you completely free.

If you sincerely seek you will find. I might make a suggestion buy a modern translation (not old English, if you prefer) of New Testament...ie Good News Version or full Living Bible, it's easier to read and search, ask God to help you and enlighten you. If you are really sincere and He knows you better anybody He will show you. He always does and start reading the gospels first, ie Matthew, Mark and Luke, John.

I didn't mean meditation or yoga. In a previous thread where the non-thesists and yourselves were arguing, I suggested that perhaps some people were afraid of religion because on some level it makes you judge yourself.

For example...if there is an infinite intelligence in the universe...I can't compare myself to it because whether my Iq is 100, 1000 or 10000, they're equally insignificant versus an infinite intelligence.

Meaning that I can't look outward and judge god, because judgement in that instance is basically a meaningless comparison exercise versus an infinity. All I can do is measure myself and ask, what type of person I am, how much good have I done, etc?

I then argued that perhaps people don't like doing that because they're not always happy with the result of them judging themselves. We all know the truth about ourselves, and some don't like to hear the truth about themselves from themselves...because they know it's true. So they prefer to attempt to judge God...

And in this thread I now added a little extra, saying that I'd recently read a thesis on the Tabernacle...and I posed you a question in regard to that.

 OK.... copper is found in the Outer court of the Tabernacle. So to pass over into the presence of God, which was in the Holy of holies, one had to first "pass through" the entrance of the Outer court founded in copper with a sacrifice. Shows us we first have to deal with our sin.
