Pollard could not be  included in the Springbok squad by the time the  squad was submitted to World Rugby near to two months before the start of the WC because he was still recovering from an injury..    We know what ahppened in 2015 whent here were 8 unplayable players in teh RWC squad ib 2015 and  I think that Erasmus bore that in mind when submitting the squad.
