I think the target of the Russians are in fact and has always been limited when looking at the Minsk agreement of 2015 and the similar agreement reached between Macron at Putin two eweeks before the actual invasion took place.    The fact is the Russians taking over Ukraine was a carefully nurtured lie used for propaganda purposes.   The latter agreement was sabotaged by the clueless Biden.

When the Russian attack threatened Kiev in the first week of the invasion. new negotiations co-ordinated by Turkey started and the Russians in response withdraw their troops from the area north of Kiev to let negotiations take its course.   However, the Ukraine Government was told by the US Government not to continue with negotiations to find a solution.    

Since 2015 there was no stoppage in hostilities in the Eastern Ukraine as per the Minsk Agreement and killing of Russian inhabitants - the figure varies.    By 2016 the figure is put at 14 000 killings of Russian speaking people in Eastern Ukraine - by 2022 it increased to over 20 000 unarmed and innocent people.   In 2019  the Ukraine Government banned Russian from being used in schools despite the fact that at least 30% of the Ukraine residents have Russian as home language.   

After the failures on negotiations on USA instruction mentioned above failed - Ukraine went ahead and had all Russian speaking members of the Ukraine Parliament arrested and declare that Ukraine is now a one-party dictatorship.   That is why Russia moved their forces to Eastern Ukraine and the issue affect the possibility to protect Russian speaking people in Ukraine became the actual issue.    There seems to be no reliance on protecting the Russian speaking people in Ukraine through negotiations and it seems as if the new objective is to free the Russian speaking people in Eastern Ukraine from oppression by the Kiev Regime.

I am still in favor of  implementation of the 2015 Minsk agreement - but am beginning to doubt whether that would be possible in future.    I cannot see any chance that hostilities in Ukraine would stop until US involved corruption is stopped and the USA keep stopping real negotiations like those mentioned above.                        

By the way US Aid assistance resulted in a Corruption scandal in Ukraine in the military command - the US Government knew about corruption in Ukraine and especially since it also implicate US politicians and bureaucrats - the USA Government is trying to hush it up and they decide who the Ukraine Government should fire and who they should retain.

The tragedy of war is that the truth always comes out too late thanks to deceiving media in the end and the biggest part of the tragedy is the loss of memory mankind years later...ie the obliteration of Belgrade (Yugoslavia) sanctioned illegally  by Washington under Bill Clinton and NATO. I doubt if there is a single poster here who can give an accurate geo political analysis of it, or knows the truth between Serbia and Kosovo. Googling it won't help much either, neither will it give an accurate account of Libya, Syria, Horn of Africa,Venezuela, Yemen, even Vietnam (all tainted with lies and half truths which is the biggest deceiver of all). Next on the list will be Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand and maybe Indonesia. The Ukrainians are being used as cannon fodder for power and greed of evil hegemonic Neo-cons.

Using lies and atrocity propaganda to cause hatred between different nations should be war crime, period.
