Hold on you say ‘there are many paths-nothing is cast in stone’ and then you say ‘he was the one that set America on an irreversible path’.
Hold on you say ‘there are many paths-nothing is cast in stone’ and then you say ‘he was the one that set America on an irreversible path’.
I meant many paths without Trump, and his self-fulling prophecy. He is the one that says America is on a downward path, and that "he alone can fix it".
For example, had Marco Rubio become president, America could have followed a different path.
When you are building something and you realise that you've gone wrong, do you try and keep the error in place and work around it or do you take apart everything back to where you made the mistake and thereby erase the mistake fro the final product.
Trump sees America as having made errors and is trying to reset some of them. Hence DOGE, tariffs...
Ignoring Trump's solutions, and just looking at what he claims the maladies are, I think one could objectively come to the conclusion that he's not far off. The US government was wasting money, the US probably were getting an unfair trade deal from many partners, NATO members probably weren't carrying their own weight.
A prerequisite for solving problems is identifying them.
I'd say that next in line is having the will to fix those problems.
...and finally the solution must be adequate and correctly executed.
Amidst all the disparaging of Trump, it's worth remembering that though one might criticise his solutions, it's difficult to argue his zeal or with what he's trying to achieve for his country.
But that's way out beyond the TDS line.
@ButtPlug,
Garbage. America is the richest country in the world. If they have problems, they must look internally before blaming the world.
Their Big Tech companies collect people's data - usually without consent - and then sell it. They are getting a good deal from globalisation. Imagine going into someone's country and stealing property and then selling it back to the country.
Trump only focuses on industries in which Trumperica is weaker, like cars.
Their problem is that the richest 3% are getting richer, mostly because they allow direct competitors to merge, killing competition, jobs, wage growth, etc.
If they broke these big companies up, it would create more jobs.
Look at Microsoft acquiring Activision. The first thing they did was fire 15% of the employees, mostly in the US and the EU, while keeping the people in India and other weaker currency countries.
The shareholders were happy as profits increased and looked forward to seeing Microsoft continue to jack up prices with no checks and balances for price determination.
Most of the main American politicians have a net-worth of over 50 million. While the public argues about left and right, they are getting screwed.
Yes, we know you hate Bezos and Musk.
Are we know that Facebook is probably a revenue stream for you but that you despise it too.
You just said that America is declining.
And I never said it was the rest of the world's fault. I simply said that they could likely be getting a better deal in many scenarios.
Also, half of the problem people have with Trump is his willingness to go all out to fix problems within the USA too - see DOGE
So, what exactly are you complaining about?
@ButtPlug, I said that Trump is always saying that America is in decline.
What I would say is that a Trump led America is in decline, especially when he wants to stay on for a third term before handing over the family business (The US economy) to Don Jr.
P.s Advertising is only one area that I work in. In addition to most areas digital marketing, I do business automation, integration and AI. Their are far more privacy centric ways to do advertising without allowing these companies to collect the data.

Trump always says America is in decline (more so, when he is not president).
Yet, the GDP growth has been higher than ever.
The real problem is a shrinking middle class and growing working class which hints at long-term problems. However, there are many paths - nothing is cast in stone.
Trump's destroying America's relationship with other countries of the world - could be very well the beginning of the end. Trunp's fears have become true through a Fulfilling Prophecy. He was the one that set America on an irreversible path.
