Donald Trump is 'folding' to China over tariffs - or at least, that's what social media users would have you believe.

The president has appeared to signal a U-turn on tariffs on Chinese goods after weeks of trade war speculation – and people have been quick to mock his ‘art of the deal’ on social media.

Over recent weeks, the back and forth has seen Trump raise tariffs on Chinese goods to 145 per cent, before China hit back with 125 per cent duties on US goods.

The White House has been insisting that the move has been a success, but the financial markets have experienced record drops and sparked worldwide recession fears.

Now, Trump has conceded that the 145 per cent tax Americans currently pay for most imported goods from China after trade talks took place.

The President spoke in the Oval Office after a swearing-in ceremony for Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins. He said that talks with China were “doing fine” because “everybody wants to have involvement” in American markets.

“Ultimately, they have to make a deal, because otherwise they're not going to be able to deal in the United States, and we want them involved, but they have to, and other countries have to make a deal, and if they don't make a deal, we'll set the deal,” he said.

“We're going to be setting the deal, and it'll be a fair deal for everybody and it'll be — I think it's a process that's going to go pretty quickly.”

Asked whether he’d ultimately drop the tariffs he’s imposed on Chinese imports, Trump replied: "It'll come down substantially. But it won't be zero."

People on social media have been quick to criticise Trump’s tactics throughout the entire trade war – referencing his book The Art of the Deal and accusing him of being completely shown up by China in the negotiations.

One social media user posted a mocked-up picture of Trump and China's President Xi Jinping playing poker - it shows Trump go "all-in", before Xi Jinping calls and forces Trump to fold.

Really American

BREAKING: In a stunning moment, Donald Trump appears to have changed his tune drastically about China. He went from bombastic on his trade war to admitting he's not going to play hardball. "We're going to be very nice." He sounds desperate.

Good luck to China replacing the American market...Trump has all the cards.

Trump must go to China and kiss their arse and beg like a dog for a trade deal. Then he can go to the EU and do the same. America only makes up 15% of the world economy. We hold the cards.

S o we hacv to belive opinion pieces of people who do not have anty detail of what is happening. Trump uses tariffs to get trade agreements between counties and the USA in place, Easy to write something and claim something who is not awae of what is happening i the case of trade beteen China and the USA,

Trump has suspended the tariffs to all countries for 90 days to allow for negotiations to take place/ He has appointed people to hiscabinets who are experts in their various flelds and those appoinees knows more about econmics than the idiots Biden appointed, Take an example - when Biden's Secetary of the Treasury addressed the Seate she was asked a simple quaestionas to the proposed increasess of Federal debts of the USA - the Secretary did no have he answe and did not know hat in fact she was promoted,

The USA as a result of disastrous policies of Biden ws destroying the U SA dollar in a sea of mismanagement and even bribery and cirruption. Arrangements to deal with major parts of the disaster is now painted by people that thee is a crisis in the USA caused by Trump can best be decried as BS supreme, An example is that fr hree years 94% f the public service never went to their offices and when told to report for duty the Democrts advise the nort to go thei offices o work arrnaged that the nn-working clique gets paid their salaries nd key elements of the administration was contracted out to private companies involving a subnsantial degree of corruption as well. and most f he affected had done zero work for 3 years but paid their monthly salaries for doing no work at all.

Some Federal agencies has no compuerized programs to manage thei finances at all - while othes had and those programs were enver updated since they were inroduced in the 1990's - so Trump sad no more and all financil management would be done by usig AI to manage the Departments and eliminate ma;ladminisration, bribery and corruption. So in the chaos that developedd in he USA over the last 30 years the USA econom was systenatucally destroyed over te past 30 years,

So that is why the media sees chaos while there was none and what heir is is chaos in the Democratic Pary who are iciting people - mstly those fired for doing no work at all and being apid salaries to join protests and bring thei armms to fight the Government in the streets, In nrmal socieites such calls to arms are regarded as high Treason and terrorism - but that is supported by tto the leftist media is fine and the BSters write about tthings that is happening but nothing about the reasons for it, .
