A trade deal was announced earlier, which appears okay-ish. However, it allows indian companies (and maybe UK ones) to employ Indians with temporary visas without paying Employee Tax (National Insurance) for 3 years.
It seems to be causing an uproar. If the numbers are small, no big deal.
However, if it becomes like the H1B Visa program, it is not good news. It is better to have more jobs than workers to drive up wages with a supply/demand difference. Then there is an incentive to also use automation/AI to do the low-skilled stuff where possible.
If one were cynical, this could just be to push labour costs down and shareholder profits up.
It will mean that it is 20% cheaper to employ Indians than people from the UK. The government also, not so long ago, increased the national insurance tax, after promising in their pre-election campaign that they would only tax the richest 2% if more funds were needed.
"Sir" Two-tier Kier could be a Tory dressed up as a liberal to trick people. Roll on globalisation and the Great Replacement.
