Any tips on ODI 2?

Our guys didn’t do much wrong in ODI 1 in my opinion other than Quinton and Markram giving their wickets away by playing dumb strokes. I’d play Rabada if he’s fit and Maharaj.

We might be in for another exciting game depending on team makeup. Master coach must surely be having more than one. head scratch as the Raipur pitch will favour a bit of movement with the ball staying low. There’ll also be early spin. Batsmen will be tested until the pitch settles down.

i favour the team who bats second.

Go the Proteas.

Dec 03, 2025, 14:14

If we want to have any chance of winning, we just have to score more runs than India.

Dec 03, 2025, 18:44

Good chase!...well done!

Dec 03, 2025, 19:01

Well, well Quinton failed once more but fortunately the other batters managed to dig out a WIN.

Excellent performance by the guys.

Matthew Breetzke is building a reputation flying under the radar as a consistent middle order batsman. If Brevis learns to build an innings they could form a trusting and reliable middle order. But while we’re waiting for that mouth watering possibility they need to find a solution to the problem in the top order.

Rickleton as I’ve stated has critical technical issues, his footwork is a major handicap. They’re not doing him any favours by letting him hang around, he needs to go back to the grindstone.

Dec 04, 2025, 03:50

I think the Proteas will win…and Ock will fold under pressure. Ock is a jelly…einde, get over it

Dec 04, 2025, 04:02

Dec 4?

Stand to be corrected but the game was played yesterday

Dec 04, 2025, 04:39

Woooosh!

Dec 04, 2025, 04:51

Yeah right.

Another outstanding cricket post.

Dec 04, 2025, 04:56

Well fine, assume I didn’t know the game was played yesterday and had not already watched the recording. Another perfect prediction then.

Talk about leading with your chin….ROFL!

Dec 04, 2025, 05:10

Youre so gracious, now if you’ll excuse me I have a pebble in my boot.

Funny how your cringe worthy cricket posts dried up after “OCK” retired from national duties, matter of fact he alone kept your posts active.

Oh I forget, that pebble I was telling you about….its a nuisance factor.

Dec 04, 2025, 05:43

Yes in Godfather 3 Joey Zasa said: ‘I have a stone in my shoe Mr Corleone’. Beware, we all know what happened to Joey, get better boots.

Dec 04, 2025, 10:16

What are you really trying to say Hmmm?

or should I ask what would you like to add to this blog to make it more interesting?

Nothing really is there but to have a pop at me for whatever childish reason.

Everyone knows your pet hate imploded again but that’s never stopped you from slagging him off as an extent of your cricket knowledge.

Kinda reminds me how you used to slag off Jaquie Fourie amongst others, forget his name there was the loosie from the Sharks, more recent PSDT and DDA.

Youve always had a pet hate through the decades and that on a message board.

Moffie you’ve got nothing but spin, you gave yourself up with your relentless cringe worthy hate posts about Quinton.

And your relentless support of the great Hashim Amls when he was way past his used by date.

Continue to read my posts one is never to old to learn…..and you have lots too learn.

Then add something meaningful to the debate.

Dec 04, 2025, 19:16

I’m saying if you are trying to quote somebody, however clumsy that effort may be, make the attribution.

Dec 04, 2025, 23:01

Tell me Moffie, has there ever been a time when you haven’t slagged off a player whether that be in the rugby or cricket sections? It didn’t actually stop there either the bitterness and hate continued for decades.

And here’s another…..do you know of any other poster who over the decades across 4 or 5 different message boards has inundated a message board with likewise hate of a player?

I might have mentioned this in the past but I’ll say it again, if your vitriolic posts were stripped from your grand total of postings then you’d have made no cricket posts.

I look forward to your answers to my questions.

Not the most popular among Protea fans, Bavuma is one of our most technically correct batsmen with tight seams between bat and pad and sensible bat lift.He tends to do well when others a struggling with the moving ball. And in this innings when so many of our bats played extravagant shots….the commentator referred to one as just a slog, Bavuma stuck to the task.

Jansen’s opening few overs opened the prospect of an unlikely win and Harmer finished things. This has to be one of our best wins against a quality opponent from what looked like a sure loss at the beginning of play.

A magical escape in the first innings followed by our 3 spinner attack. Can’t remember seeing that work and then a professional batting display by Markram and Rickleton. This is the kind of match they have contrived to lose in the past, but a real Aussie like rearguard win. And some exciting new options on the bowling side where we need it most, but Muthusami knows how to wield the willlow

….still not sure the catch that dismissed him in the seventies was actually made. But he and de Zorsi put the Poteas back in the test. Unfortunately Verrynne, Stubbs and Brevis went cheaply after Rickleton left. And Muthusamy got some sharp turn….it was quite impressive.

…..or in some ways the modern Barry Richards. The way he uses his hands reminds me of Barry. A classical case was his ‘forehand up the line’ when they tried to wide him. And Hazlewood won’t soon forget them bomb he hit straight down the pitch nearly taking out the bowler and the umpire. Exciting stuff that will inspire Pretorious and Rickleton to step up. But crucially he is so technically correct, no obvious flaws there.

….he would have gone down in the annals of the game and established cricket as the ultimate example of sportsmanship. Thirty years ago a batsmen might have done that. But it was poetic justice that the Aussies had no more reviews after some of the silly lbw calls they tried. Also a final historic black mark on the umpiring which was pretty atrocious

Apologies on the other string, it’s hard to get this chart to format and there’s no way of changing the other posting. Stubbs test average is 33.3, his ODI average is 41.5 and his T20 average is 29.13 decent enough for a young player.

…..great innings in a losing cause. This guy is Lance Klusener but more consistent. It’s a sad day when we lose an ODI series to Pakistan at home. The team clearly needs to be revamped. Especially the bowling which is pathetic.

Just watched the first T20…turned out to be a tight affair, with Linde the deserving MOM. But just a word about Miller’s innings….he played some of the most aesthetic flat cover drives for 6 I have ever seen. When he is in flow there are few that can match him for elegant hard hitting….one is always left with the feeling that somehow he never quite fulfilled is potential. Take a look if you missed it.
