Dussen, Hendricks, Markram, Klaasen and Jansen were awesome. But there is this:

Oct 18, 2023, 07:09

It was indeed a debacle .   There is a problem - unless De Kock makes runs the rest just folds up.

Oct 21, 2023, 23:54

Hahaha….and Kock goes second ball….but the rest put up the highest score ever against England in an ODI.

The egg flows.

Oct 22, 2023, 13:33

Still no recognition of a brilliant innings by Klaasen

Oct 23, 2023, 08:33

I did not comment on the the innings of Klaasen - same as you ignored te two centuries by De Kock in their first two matches.   Unlike you I hereby congratulate Klaasen congratulate on his major contribution to the proteas winning the match.

Oct 23, 2023, 21:43

And you make a fool of yourself again….the gift that just keeps on giving. Here is your daily helping of egg gomtor.

Oct 12, 2023, 21:31

Probably the best innings I have seen de Kock play. He was contained and punished the poor balls. Clearly he is comfortable on these Indian wickets and he was the big factor in our win today. Happy to admit  I was wrong so far.

taklking f making  a fool f hiself - I se D e Kock made anoher century scoring 174 runs - no comment from the BSter n site?

Oct 24, 2023, 18:00

QDK is top run scorer of the CWC thus far, second most 6s...Proteas sporting the top 3 highest totals at the CWC as well..

WTAF did we lose to the Kaaskoppe?

Oct 24, 2023, 18:46

Clever unlike you I don’t comment until I watch the match. So far today I have played golf and had a nice lunch. Next I have some things to buy. I may get to the match later or perhaps tomorrow. After which I will comment…comprende?

Oct 24, 2023, 18:47

We lost to the Kaaskoppe because South African teams don’t rate beating up minnows….Japan in 2015 was the same habit.

Oct 25, 2023, 13:03

174 runs and a 3rd century for the guy who's going to "bottle it".

26 more runs and we'd have to call him Twinton de Kock!

Oct 25, 2023, 14:24

Three centuries is impressive…..I wish I could feel confident this predicts similar performances in the contested matches. But I remain unpersuaded.

I do think he has tightened up his play though. The yawning gap between bat and pad isn’t as much in evidence….he isn’t throwing the bat at the ball as much. When he is opening against a good attack in the knockouts and the ball is moving, he will also need to be mentally tough,

Time will tell.

Oct 26, 2023, 07:09 always half empty stuff...I'll take the "laer trek" mentality over that any day of the week...and twice on match day!

Oct 26, 2023, 14:49

On September the 17th I wrote this:

‘Nonetheless this is good team as recent Proteas teams go….hopefully the surprise this time will be positive.’

Nobody else started to pump the Proteas until the first match in the WC was over.  Stop giving me your special attention and call out your other posters who are just now getting some belief.

Oct 26, 2023, 18:52

Moz your negativity is make fair and positive calls too, but your default is doom and gloom...we're in the RWC final and second on the CWC log, more than halfway through...much more positives than  negatives...I'm a bit skeptic about our chances too,  but one has to keep the faith and be positive till the end...and sometimes it pays off..."defeatism" isn't for me.

Oct 26, 2023, 19:24

My default isn’t doom and gloom….I had the Boks beating Ireland and France, and I have been positive on the Proteas. I simply don’t buy all the antics of Sauron and I have my doubts about Ock.

Oct 26, 2023, 19:48

...if you say so...the general feel and optics of your contributions says different...yet I can understand where you're coming from...I understand your opinion, I just don't share it exactly...passion and reason rarely seem to be a tad short on the passion...only a tiny bit though.

Oct 26, 2023, 21:23

I’ll be passionate during the game….after that I’ll be analytical.

Nov 02, 2023, 22:57

Sure - your analysis of De Kock started in 2-013 when he replaced Graeme Smith in the shorter versions of the game.   Your description varies fcrom, - he cannot play fast bowlers, he cannt play spin bowlers to start off with.    His main sin was replac ing Graeme Smith in the shorter versions of the game.

Now what about comparative stats in  ODI's:

Smith    - Played in 194 innings   -   10 centuries - 47 fifties - strike rate 80.08

De Kock - Played n 152 innings   -   21 centuries - 30 fifties - strike rate 96

In 2019 when De Kock was the highest runscorer by a South-African in the whole series and you blamed him for losing matches.

Thus far in the present series De Kock scored 546 runs at a strike rate higher than 100 - the second best runscorer was Kohli with 103 less runs than De Kock scored,   Yet you make the claim that he brought his strike rate down?    I fail to understand that one.

Well if you can’t see the difference in de Kock’s batting approach I can’t help you…perhaps you should listen to the commentary during the NZ test. They made the same point repeatedly.

Nov 03, 2023, 05:02

Your if - but approach iro De Kock is well-known.   If he did well in the past you ignored it - but if an excuse is to be found for a loss - the first person named responsible for the loss would always be blame3se by you on De Kock,    Most of it are dstortions in any event.

Theis time he didf so well that you would look like an utter fool if you ignored it.    So after D e Kock made two centuries and you ignored it you attack me for ignoring the century Klaaszen made,    How many times over the last 5 years have you advocated for Dew Kock to be replaced by Klaaasen

Nov 03, 2023, 15:40

The game against India this weekend should be a indication of the  Proteas progress they have made in the CWC this time around.

All being well these two teams could be the finalists in a few days time.

Just hope that we have none of the dramatic Protea collapses that they produce when the pressure is on.

A win against India would be great but I would rather see the Proteas produce a sound knock and that the bowlers are on form  boosting the confidence to all the SA players for the final.

A close game would be fantastic for the upcoming final between these two reams.

Go Proteas.

"....Well if you can’t see the difference in de Kock’s batting approach I can’t help you…"

Yes, he matured as a player with all top players do...if you've had your way, he would have had way less xp.

Nov 04, 2023, 01:19

On the contrary….he has improved just recently. There is no improving trend with experience. He has made an adjustment.

As for the little gotcha, that’s also not true. I might have called for his replacement as some point. But generally I have suggested batting him at 5 or 6 as an attacking mid order bat. Which made sense as long as he was taking imprudent risks as an opener.

Nov 04, 2023, 08:23

He's fine as an ODI tests he should bat at 6 or 7.

Nov 04, 2023, 13:11

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe De Kock has retired from Test cricket.

Nov 04, 2023, 22:01

Yes, unfortunately he did Arthur...waaay too soon though, but our test team has been in shambles for a while now.

Nov 05, 2023, 02:11

Test cricket in South Africa is a dead duck, CSA loses money every time they have a series because of the lack of interest. There's an away series to NZ coming up and it's going to be comprised of a ramshackle team with no future tours in the pipeline. Quinton did the right thing to retire from a lost cause.

Nov 05, 2023, 15:44

Denny unfortunately you are correct.

The one day games and the 20/20 are what the fans flock to see.

They wish to see exciting cricket that has a result not 5 days of "Drinks, Lunch, Tea and more Drinks" with many games declared a draw at the end of the 5th day.

When Packer, Grieg and Richards pioneered this form of the game (one day and 20/20 with a result) they started something that has made cricket the game it is today.

Exciting and a pleasure to watch.
