to our women's tour downunder which is made up of a team blended with youth and experience. It won't be easy and for some it will mean a steep learning curve against the current world champs. Bring it on, there's only one way to find out and that's to play against the best.

Our women bats are ok, they've matured and play with a bit more self belief  since the WC. Without the now retired Ismail their attack is ordinary, the current attack is not going to do it for them which is a pity because I believe  potentially they are a good batting side capable of holding their own against Oz.

South Africa level series with stunning first-ever win over listless Australia

  • Laura Wolvaardt bats her side to historic six-wicket victory
  • Alyssa Healy’s side fail to fire at the crease, restricted to 6-142

Yep, I'm not surprised, they must stay focused and consistent and that way they'll build confidence. They are fearless and go for their shots and they have good technique.

The attack needs one immediate change, Khaka is kak she has to go, went for 50 runs in 4 overs.

With the series tied at one a piece Tuesday's final game will be interesting.

Close but no cigar, they had their chances, think it was as if they lost the game instead of Oz winning the game, some soft dismissals, a bit of nerves and a silly run out. Also think they lacked composure but that will come with winning.

An obvious change makes a difference with the introduction of Eliz-Mari Marx.....Khaka as I pointed out is useless she was repeatedly tried and failed and in her last game she went for 50(4). Eliz-Mari is not express, however, she consistently bowls a tight line making life difficult for the batter.

Her figures in yesterday's magnificent win 7 0 22 2 eco 3.14

Now for the final...we need Laura, Tazmin and trojan Marizanne to sizzle with contributions from Chloe, Anneke and Sune.

Composure girls....composure.

Go you good things!

What a disappointing performance from the Protea women. I can't believe how they went from a sublime performance in ODI 2 only to crumble in the final. What is it.....a lack of BMT...self belief ..gameplan??? I really don't have an answer what I do know is that they bowled poorly by gifting the Ozzies plenty of wides and long hops leaving them a challenging total to chase down. There is nothing to take out of the game......hell knows where to from here.

Denny stand by we are going to be entertained by the Proteas taking on NZ in the second test starting today.

So expect to have more of the same type of  performance.

Bavuma oh Bavuma, where art thou in these desperate times.

He only took part in one EP Sunrises game so I wonder why he was not included in the team in the NZ tour.

As I said, I won't be watching and  commenting it's as I predicted......a shambles. What makes it worse is the fact that the Proteas have never lost a test series to NZ.

Well I watched the Ladies test this morning and noticed that no Kapp in the team.

Any idea why?

Simple no Kapp no team.

What a screw up this side is.......

Embarassing at best.

She was an 11th hour withdrawal due to illness. Yes mate, she's a star and I reckon she should be captain instead of Laura who has fallen by the wayside batting wise. I reckon the captaincy coupled with the expectancy to perform is affecting her batting, I might be wrong but it seems to me there's a lack of leadership in the team. Not sure about the coach either he could be another quota job.

Feb 17, 2024, 13:21

Yes I have to agree.

Since van Niekerk's injury a few seasons ago and her failure to meet the fitness stsndard the ladies team has been led by players who are not leaders or able to lift inspire or lead a team.

Luus and company just don't have it unfortunately.

Graham Smith might be in a spot of bother having reportedly said on a couple of occasions that arrangements surrounding the test series was bungled.

Ouch!
