There is on the part of the media an indication that Rajashtan Royals - who under the captaincy of Smith - competed with Chennai Super Kings for the bottom of the of position - intends to release Smith and he can then be bidden on  by all clubs at the auction.

Smith himself did not do well enough in the 2020  series  and his release may be the highest rated player to be released this year.   It does not necessarily mean that  they do not want him back in the Rajasthan Royal Squad - they may kust hope to get him back at a cheaper price than he is paid at present,

Great batsman... has the best temprement.

But in my opinion, he is a coward who does silly things when under pressure.

Tim Paine needs to depart from the Aussie scene too. Below average batsman... usually brilliant keeper... I'd prefer Wade at 7 and keeping wicket.

Cummins to captain.

In the IPL he was Nortje's bunny = twice out from balls bowled by Nortje and after the sandpaper incident he was given a years ban om the OPL as well,  Ehen he ccame back from th ban he had two average years in the IPL.

The other player  the RR paid a fortune for in the 2020 sales = I think it was   over $3  million dollars to play for 8 weeks for the club for 8 weeks  was Ben Stokes,  He had a very averafe uear and they may send him packing as well.

I found an article where the release and retention of batsmen are dealt with - ni it is mot the gill list yet,     The  list is what has been agreed upon thus far,    The reason why some prominent players like Rabada, Nortje and De Kock is not on the retention list  is that their salaries for the IPL has not been finalized as to  remuneration has not been finalized yet,

All three are likely to ask for a higher remuneration based on their  exploits in 2020.   It will be possibly Nortje who would want  at least 3 croee  and not the bargain basement price they paid him this year,   Please note that Mumbai released  Coulter-Nile and they would love to get hold of Nortje,

Where there is no mention in the list of other players there is still a very real chance that more releases will follow:-

At the auction some players from SA may be in demand and those include Mulder, Sipamla and  Roelofsen with De Swardt also getting a hard look,  Much depend on how these players perform before the auction on 11 February 2021
