I have mixed feelings about the game, there are somethings I'm happy about, the win of course, a score of 400+ in the first innings when we know they've always struggled to score 300 runs, Rabada finding his mojo and setting a great leadership example, Jansen, my Jansen bouncing back from his disappointing performance in the ODI WC and newbie Nandre Burger getting off to a flyer on his test debut. Disappointed that our batsmen were denied a second innings, for one they play very little test cricket so they need every crumb of experience and feel where it really matters and that's out in the middle. David Bedingham, not a star in the making but as a batsman he plugs a hole in the batting lineup and offers a bit of confidence where the other batsmen don't. So ja, plenty of questions and very few answers. Our pace attack needs to improve but again we have to remind ourselves that our boys are young and inexperienced, thankfully they can feed off Rabada. The new coach is vindicated on leaving out
Maharaj and going with an all pace attack.
Was impressed by the pace quartet. They all get movement and can bowl at 140 km plust.
Burger is a real handful.
Indians will come back stronger at Newland.
I am sure that the Indian team will perform better at Newlands.
Is Bavuma injured or what, if he is injured he needs to be replaced asap as our batting needs 11 players not 10 espically for the newlands test.
Agree that the bowlers did hit form in this test and yes Rabada again showed off his class, thankfully.
Coetzee appears to be off compared to the CWC and some wild deliveries he sent down did not help his stats.
Trust he will be on target in CT.
Burger was an unknown prior to this test (to me)
and he sure backed up the confidence placed on him by the new coach and selectors.Jansen once again stood firm at the crease and did his reputation a ton of good as an allrounder.
At wicket I would prefer to see Klassens.
A pity that after the NZ trip the Proteas will be sidelined for the test series this year.....for both the players and us spectators.
Jansen...what a player!
This guy just keeps getting better and putting in meaningful performance.
Gotta love him

Coetzee was suffering pelvis discomfort and won't be playing in the Newlands test.
Thanks Denny I was not aware of the issue regarding Coetzee.

Virat Kohli's defiant 76 failed to save India from being thrashed by an innings and 32 runs by South Africa in the first Test at Centurion.
India lost seven second-innings wickets in the evening session as they were bowled out for just 131 in 34.1 overs.
Kohli and Shubman Gill (26) were the only India batters into double figures as Nandre Burger (4-33) and Marco Jansen (3-36) did the damage.
The second and final Test starts on 3 January at Newlands in Cape Town.
