According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea have offered Kalidou Koulibaly a salary of €10 million per season.
The belief is that while that number is firmly on the table, Chelsea still need to meet the €40 million asking price that has been set by Napoli for the defender.
The last few years have seen rampant speculation regarding the future of Koulibaly but up to this point, Napoli have been able to keep hold of him – although it doesn’t seem as if they’ll be able to carry on doing so for very long.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have got some solid individual defenders, but it does feel like they may need another centre-back force to bring them together, which is where Koulibaly comes in.
At the age of 30 he’s still very much in his prime and the Premier League should be suited to his style, especially given his years of experience in Serie A.
