 I woder smtimes about the draws..   In the Aussie Open two-thirds of the qualifiers ended  up in the Top Half of the draw.   In this tournament there were provision for 7 qualifiers   In fact 6 will play in the Top Half of the Draw and only i in the Bttom Half of the D raw.                                                 

 Aside from the 7 qaualifie matche played tday there ae also 4 Round 1 matches that will be plaayed today -eg Sunday.   That leaves another 20 Round 1 matchs to be played on MOnday and Tuesday - with Round 3 matces to be played on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hope the weathr holds out - Tuesday and Wednesday are indicating as rainy days.

WINNER -  Stefanos Tsisipas won and deserve praise  fo winning his ist ouirnaqment for ages.     

Two surprisinng finalists emerged - neither of the two won any tournaments during  the past year and botha re solidying their top 10 positions after being  out of the TNp 10 for a while.   One can only sish  th em well to win this tournament.

So what happened in this tournament needs some comment.   Djokovic had a horrible 2024 thus far.    He entered the Monte Carlo tourament and did achive better results than he did since 2015 when h e last won tis tournament.   S ince 2020 D jokovic never get to the quarterfinal stage in thsi tournement.   I watched him play in Rounds 2 and 3 and in the quarterfinals and saw him sruggling a bot from time to time from tirednss and was surpised by him reaching the si0finals,  Based on my observations I never th ought  he would win the tournament.    Insofar a his tournament is concerned he showed signs of becoming comnpetitive - but I am not sure he will contnue in that wein.   He is not playing in any tournament next week and that is flollowed by the Madrid Open the week afterwards and then the Italian  Open a week later,   One wil h ave to see  wh ere and whn D jokvic will play in Madrid and Rome.

I think Sinner is better on hard courts and grass courts than h e si on clay courts,
