It took me three hourse to get to the playes in Round 2 - t h u,pdating of thi will probably take the same.
time.
I am dlieghted by the win of Jiri Helecka - he was hovering around the number 31 and 32 rankings for many months and needed a victory like he did today to go up the rankings significantly. He in fact went up from being number 32 ranked to be number 23 ranked n the last tournament he played in and I think e will tar mving into the Top 20 soon.
To the top with this one
After the Aussi Open only 4 of the Top 32 ranked players in the world played in Montpellier last week. Of those players only 1 top 10 ranke player (Holger Rune) actually played last week
This week things look a bit better - of the 32 ranked players 15 are playing this week. Only 1 of those 15 are in the top 10 ranked players - namely Hubert Hurkasz. This is alrgely because thee ae three ATP 250 tournaments this week.
It is a fact that Top 10 players rarely play in ATP 250 tournaments. S o over the next three weeks there are still a lot of A TP 259 tournaments - but there are h following ATP 500 tournaments coming up. and most of the Top 10 plays are going to play in two of the following tournaments. :
Rotterdam 12 to 18 February 2024
Rio de Janeiro 19 to 25 February 2024
Dubai and Acapulco 26 February
Most of the players will try and play in two ATP 500 tournaments - but the fact that the tournaments are spread over 4 continents and travel arrangements could play a role in that regard.. .
It has been announced that Medvedev - winner of he Rotterdam tournament will not be playing in Rotterdam due to a foot injury. That means in Rotterdam Jannik Sinner will be the number 1 seed and Andrey Rublev will be the Number 2 seed in Rotterdam. Alcaraz will play IN Buenos Aires next week and in Rio de Janeiro the wek af ter. There is no indication a to Ferrr playing this coming wek or the next week, neither anything about Tsitsipas plauyying soon. There are no indication whe Djokovic will play next - his fist match after the Aussie Open last year wa in Dubai - where h e lost in the semi. Rune suffered a wrist injury in Monpellier and is niminated o play in Rotterdam - but will his
injury allows him to play next week?Alcarasz will play in Buenos Aires next week and followin g that one in Rio de Janeiro he wek after that.
hat h as become clea in media reports thus far is that Djokovic will not play next week and he may start in Dubai - where he played his first match after the A ussie Open last year.
Alcaraz are set to play in the Buenos Aires followed by the Rio de Janeiro series the week after that and in Acapulco.
Medvedev will not play in Rotterdam which tournament he won in 2023 - due to a foot injury he picked up in the final in the Aussie open and his likely return would be in Dubai.
Lookas like S inner will be the no 1 seed in Rotterdam with Rublev being the number 2 seed. It is not clear where S inner will play af ter that. After playing in Rotterdam next week, Rublev is likely to play in Doha (Qatar llowed by Dubai
I have a suspicion that Zverev will not play in Rotterdam and that eh might enter the Acapulco tournament - he might eb off to Rio followed by the Acapulco tournamnt he .last wtwo weeks in F ebruary,
