Round 2 entails the same number of matches played in Round 1. There is a difference though it is the first round in which all the seeded player (32) will play - all against unseeded players. Question is over tomorrow and Saturday being how many will survive to play in Round 3?
Top Half of the Draw ; 8 of the 16 seeded players went out in Roud 2,
Bottom Half of the Draw : 7 of the 16 seeded players are gone after Round 2
Not a good show at all when 15 of the 32 seeded players are gone by the time the second round is completed.
Top Half of the Draw: In Round 3 thus far 1 of the remaining seeded players have been eliminated.
Bottom of the Draw:

1 Novak Djokovic vs 7 Holger Rune
4 Casper Ruud vs 24 Francisco Cerundolo
Bottom Half of the Draw
3 Danill Medvedev vs Yannik Hanfmann
5 Stefanos Tsitsipas vs 15 Borna Coric
SEMIFINALS
3 Danill Medvedev vs 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas
4 Casper Ruud vs 7 Holger Rune
FINAL
3 Danill Medvedev vs 7 Holger Rune
Looking at the form of the players involved I think the final will be between Medvedev and Rune. If Medvedev win in the final he will take over the number 2 ranking from Djokovic
I actually took a big chance and took a small bet on
* Medvedev and rune being in the final in Rome; and
* the Stormers beating Ulster next Saturday.
So far so good

All that was factual is that Nadal would not play in Rome so he was left off the list. The other absentees who was absent from Madrid due to injury are still on the list. The actual draw would take place tomorrow at 18:00 and the list updated.
Before Wednesday - when the Rome tournament starts - the major players mentioned would be reduced by losing points earned in Rome last year. For example - Djokovic who won in Rome in 2022 would lose 990 points he earned by winning in 2022 and he will only get to 2775 ranking points of he wins the tournament can only reach 2775 points by winning the tournament. If he does not he will lose at least 400 points. Unless Alcaraz does not play in Rome and even loses his opening match in Round 2 - Alcaraz will be the no 1 ranked player after the Rome Tournament is completed.
Players like Alcaraz and Rublev will lose no points to recover since they did not play in Rome last year or under-performed badly in Rome - so by the time the Roland Garros tournament starts the seeding list may look substantially different from what it is now.
Tallom Griekspoor withdrew from the tournament and was replaced by Alexander Shevchenko.
