After an absence of more than a month  from tennis due to injury Medvedev ried to start a comeback in Geneva and his performance was shockingly bad.     His serving was shockingly poor - making strings of double faults  and the accuracy has gone out of his game.     He is not a good clay court player anyway  and that is going to present a problem in the bottom half of the draw leaving it wide open.

We will know by Friday what the main draw would look like in the Roland Garros  Tournamentbut Medvedev is in my opinion not really a contender to win the tournament and will be extremely lucky to reach the quarterfinals.

What is going on here?   In the Geneva Tournament there are only  2 seeded players remaining out of the 8 quarterfinalists  with no seeded  players in the top half of the draw and the two seeds at best could meet each other in the semi.

In the case of the Lyons Tournament  the situation is lightly better with 3 of the 8 seeds reaching the quarterfinals with 2 of those playing each other in the quarterfinals.  After that there

It seems to me that  most of the  16 seeded players in both tournaments saw these two tournaments as just training exercises before decamping to Paris for Roland Garros starting on Monday .
