Analysis
There are various interesting aspects and moves stemming from Wimbledon that may impact on the situation by the end of the year;-
* The winner of the final tomorrow will determine the ranking of 1 and 2. Th e question remains will Djokovic go and play in the USA Hard Court season this year? Even a win tomorrow will mean he would remain vey long as the number 1 ranking if he does not compete in the USA - where his performances the last year he did play in the US Open he lost against Medvedev in the final. The fact is he did not win a major US title since 2018 and if he does not play in the USA - he will not gain enough points to remain as number 1 in the world.
* the next person on the ranking list is likely to remain as. There is a circa 1 500 point diffence between him and the next group of four players - which are point wise too many to gain without winning a major.
* the next 4 players are circa 500 points and that could change in some single tournaments and individual performances will actually determine who will .make up no 4 to 7.
* as to 8, 9, 10 and 11 there are also not a large point difference and that could also change over the months until November 2023.
* After that there are not many changes envisaged in the players between 12 and 20. Zverev is still struggling to recover confidence after his serious injury last year - he can move up drastically in the rankings on the faster US hard courts.
* At least four players have moved in the top 32 rankings as a result o the Roland Garros and Wimbledon tournaments. Whether they will remain in the op 32 remains a question - nobody would vouch for,
