This kid came out like a fighter yesterday.......combative and precociously talented. She took on Serena playing her best post pregnancy tennis and shut her down. It wasn't an accident that Williams appeared increasingly hesitant.

And when Williams rallied in the second set.....it was the kid against Williams and 20000 rabid New Yorkers, who cheered her mistakes. But she showed incredible guts and produced a clinching surge of her own.

Not a media creation like the other Canadian... Bouchard.....Blanca looks like a new top 5 player on the scene.

Who would have thought the tiny country of Slovenia would be dominating the Vuelta a Espana? Primoz Roglic in the red jersey and 20 year old Tadesj Pogacar winning stages and showing real talent.

It is very difficult for elderly players to win any of the majors.   the are being eliminated quiclker and quicker from the draw.

Nadal on clay is still doing well and he is still in the US Open, but not in the strong position he used to be.

Agreed at 38 like Federer and 37 like Serena, who has also had a baby, it becomes more difficult. But 32 year old Djokovic and 33 year old Nadal have had no problem beating the twenty somethings. Who know maybe today is different.

She is undoubtedly the real deal and finally there is someone who is replacing Serena with an equally high standard, however, credit has to go to Serena who has raised the bar.

Best serve ever in woman's tennis....and amazing she can still produce after having a child, with her frankly heavy body.

It is indeed refreshing to see some new, young talent coming though the ranks.

Sadly we all have to understand that time marches on and eventually catches up with all.....no exceptions.

Serena has over the years provided us with great tennis moments to reflect back on and for that we thank her.

Thanks Serena.
