The characters aren’t as big, even if the players are as competent. I still recall the Steelers….Joe Green and the
Steel Curtain. And the 85 Bears with the Fridge and Walter Payton. Sports spectating is about relating…these days a football game looks about as accessible as a Rugby League contest. But that’s quite a list of quarterback talent.

With the retirement of Tom Brady, the second last of a very special generation of quarterbacks leaves the scene. What a generation it was. Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, Kurt Warner, Brett Favre, Andrew Luck, Philip Rivers, Steve McNair, Alex Smith, Drew Bledsoe. The list goes on. The new kids on the block, and the game at present doesn't excite as it once did. We'll see what Aaron Rodgers does next, but it doesn't appear that his heart is very much in the game anymore. I'm glad that I was present to witness that generation, and thank these players for the memories. This is where my time following the game comes to an end. I said in 2013 that I'd stop following the game once Brady retired, anticipating maybe three more years left in the tank. Little did I know what was in store!
