Sadly the final showed just how far Wayde has regressed…..a full 2 seconds slower in the 400 than his record time. It’s over, but at his best he was the most elegant of runners……getting up to speed and floating away from the muscle bound contemporary sprinters,

Hoping I’m wrong but watching him being hauled in during the semis of the 400s at the Worlds, it was the obvious conclusion. Gone was the effortless sustained speed in the last 100 as a few runners blew by him. He got into the finals on time because a few runners cramped in another semi, but it’s hard to be optimistic.
With better advice this man could have been the goat in 400. But dumb local advice had him planning to run the 200 which needs much more explosiveness. Then he gets injured in pick up soccer…..a waste of a great talent,
