I'm tipping..

Half Yours to win

of the visitors I like two horses...Presage Nocturne and Al Riffa, the latter has drawn the car park but you know....it's racing in a wide open race.

I've backed River Of Stars at 17-1.

Looked like good value to me.

I really don't know, don't even think the trainers know, your pick is as good as any. Some of the imports come here with huge reputations.

Reason I went for the local is because it won the 2400m Caulfield Cup, is carrying a feather and loves the wet. So yes there's a few tick boxes for a poor punter who's struggling to find one he can hang his shirt on hahahaha

Mark Zahra opted to ride the top weight, did the same thing a few years ago and got up. He is in super form, best jockey by the country mile at the moment.

ps I was hoping to go down for the race, tried to make bookings in May, thought it was early enough....no way, all booked out. It's a really exciting and special experience but you want to stay clear of general admission. Been twice, the first was the best, I was in a marquee on the opposite side of the stadium.

Here from a tipster I respect.....

Selections: 6-14-1-23

PRESAGE NOCTURNE has traced the hoofprints of France's last Cup winner Dunaden. He was close up in a dash home in the Prix Kergorlay then solid short of his best trip behind HALF YOURS in the Caulfield Cup, now meets him 2.5kg better. Half Yours was strong late off a slow pace when a long neck behind future Cox Plate winner Via Sistina in the Turnbull carrying 1kg more. Can't fault his Caulfield Cup performance. AL RIFFA closed from midfield for second with blinkers first time in the Hardwicke. Won his next two starts easily at the Curragh with winkers reapplied. Wet ground won't worry that trio of key hopes. TORRANZINO is peaking at the right time, hardened by running in truly run races over three successive Saturdays a month ago. VALIANT KING has turned his form around with blinkers on, closing off quick tempos. MEYDAAN and VAUBAN had tough runs in the Caulfield Cup. Meydaan will like the flatter Flemington track but is a query at 3200m. Like to see Vauban ridden quietly as per his luckless Metropolitan fifth. BUCKAROO (rain helps, query at 3200m), ROYAL SUPREMACY (in-form), RIVER OF STARS (had favours but turned form around in Caulfield Cup) and MIDDLE EARTH (improved with blinkers in JRA Cup) are next.

Yes, a day at the races is always good fun. I've been to a few Mets, Durban Julys and Summer Cups. Even if you lose you still feel like you've had a great day . . . unlike a casino.

I really like the top weight's form but looking back at the history, he's got it all to do with that weight. I also tend to go a lot wider when the going is soft.
