The Australian Turf Club has received a total of 2094 first nominations for the Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper to be run at Rosehill Gardens on 22 March 2025.

Amongst the nominations are 1059 fillies and 1035 colts and geldings from stables across Australia for the 69th renewal of the iconic Sydney race.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott lead the largest number with 159 nominations (76 fillies and 83 colts) as they look to again rewrite the record books for the world’s richest race for two-year-olds.

Gai Waterhouse holds the record for most wins as a trainer (eight) including two with co-trainer Adrian Bott, the latest last year with filly Lady Of Camelot.

Godolphin with trainers in dual states including James Cummings in Sydney have 110 first nominations (54 fillies/56 colts).

The nation’s two biggest and leading trainers are next – Ciaron Maher (98 total/53 fillies/45 colts) and Chris Waller (91 total/39 fillies/52 colts).

Leading numbers by sires are I Am Invincible (96 total/54 fillies/42 colts), Snitzel (90 total/50 fillies/40 colts), Zoustar (81 total/35 fillies/46 colts) and 2016 Golden Slipper champion Capitalist (80 total/44 fillies/36 colts).

A full list of the 2094 nominations is available here.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said the Golden Slipper remained like no other race in the world.

“The owners, connections and trainers of 2094 horses have taken the next step on a journey towards a life-changing moment.

“Like no other race the $5 million Golden Slipper shapes Australian racing and breeding and is the career dream of every owner, trainer and jockey when a yearling and then two-year old joins a stable.

“It is also very pleasing to see the top lots from our great partners Inglis and their Easter sale all nominated.’’

The GS is the richest 2yr race in the world.

Wodeton is the pre-race betting fav @ $4.20/1

Champion jockey James McDonald after its last race said the horse has a rhythm that he's never experienced from any other. JMac won the Slipper two years ago and is the numero uno stable rider for the champion stable of Chris Waller.

I think O'Ole is over the odds @ $21/1..... sired by Ole Kirk who was an outstanding race horse.

The race will be run on Saturday the 22/03 @ Rosehill Gardens

Thanks Denny

You say the race is on 22 March 2025 - so I am loking forward to a few things - the most important being the final field and also the jockeys and draws.    ,

By the way I took some doubles with a  Rochampton Race  and races today and tomorrow in SA,   Th Rockhampton horse won the race  (Acrophobic)  so I should have a really hopeful day about the 2 SA horses I picked,

The 2 horses I picked are:-

Today     - Rani of Kilmur    - Race  5    -   Vaal                      -    R50

Tomorow  -  Winter in Paris   -   Race 1    -  Fairview             -    R100

Brave...mighty brave.....I wouldn't touch Rockhampton. Hell Mike do you know where Rockhampton is? I did a tour of the place, it's near the coast and all that but in typical country style. Just check and see how many fav. win on their cards. Stay away from Ozzie bumpkin town horse racing, get into metropolitan racing and back Chris Waller....remember him winning the MC with Very Elleegant? He and JMac form a dynamic combo.

Denny

The first double won and I got my money back - the second double is racing within the next hour.    Ws very lucky batting on that Aussie horse - but I know in ustralia away from the major cities favorites rarely wins.  Frankly I do not know where Rockhampton is - so I will bear in mind your comments in future and restrict my bets to Randwick, Rosehill and Warwick Farm race cources,   ,

By the way if you can find race cards n Fairview in Port Elizabeh and Fourie has huge chances in every race he is riding in.    Follow him in PE and his chances of winning is very good.

Interesting now that Zac is a senior rider he's getting more rides for Waller, think he rode him a winner in this evening's meet at Canterbury race course.
