Wolhuter is good and I hope he can stay injury free.
Masuku is finding his rhythm and seems to be playing consistent.
It seems Manie is lacking self belief? Like the other hot stormers steppers….hot or extremely cold.
The Question is, will Manie still find his Mojo? Or is it over? Well I don’t think Erasmus will drop him or maybe he will.
One thing is for certain, his form at the moment is more negative and unreliable, then it ever was.

Both these players are built similarly. They are wiry and have fantastic pace and beautiful runners in open play. Silky smooth weaving between players when given space. Both boast a siege gun boots and on their day can hurt teams from long range penalties. Both are the same with Bosch having the most first class games.
Manie had to endure a longer road both were used as 15s at some point due to the lack physicality in contact.
Bosh is now in D2 in France. Hoping to revive his career.
Manie found a home with the Stormers and played spectacular rugby. Everything just clicked but we knew he was a confidence player.
In his 2nd season at the Stormers he was still excluded from the bok alignment camp and was a late addition to the bok squad after Jantjies misadventures. Frans Steyn knees packing in and Willemse not able to hold down the bok 10 spot.
Manie finally got invited to the boks. I felt he should have been capped the year before. He did buckle in the Stormers 2nd home final. He then had a great run with the boks but his kicking came into question in the final and should have won the game. He then went on an amazing run with the boks. The peak of this run was at Twickenham against the All Blacks, that day he got all his kicks and my mate and I joked that he was drinking from his favourite red bottle.
Then came the World Cup. He had a blinder against Scotland. Cross field no look kick pass for a try. However, against Ireland he started to show his frailty. Then against France he had to be pulled and on came Pollard. Against England he couldn’t even get to the 30 min mark. The pressure was on, the weather changed and he struggled to connect his kicks and his passing starts to drop.
Pollard pull the boks back in the final 15 min. He then got dropped from the final and it was a tough call for Rassie.
Post World Cup Manie woes continues as the Stormers got dumped out the playoffs, yet again his kicking and poor away form. Rassie extended a life line to him and he missed a sitter. He came back against Argentina, but with that bok pack no flyhalf should struggle giving the 10 all that front foot ball. This reminds of how great Larkham and Gregan was back in the day. Their pack went backwards all the time but the some how found ways to win and made forward dominance a non factor. Manie is a different story.
He had another crack against Scotland but also gave an average performance and still missed easy kicks.
He had a rest before the start of the season but his recent game against Toulon was his worst and most brutal game. Having a small winger cut him in half, constantly running into oncoming players. Being indecisive, throwing loose passes and his kicking just now working.
I think Manie is run is over and as written, and so many coaches have seen, he is not a man for the big moments. Pollard has done it so many times, Sasha has guts and he just backs himself, Hendrikse, still needs work but he has shown in poor conditions that he can come through. There is no room for Manie and we should not waste caps on him anymore. I would rather invest in a 4th flyhalf, but not Manie. Wolhouter is starting to show promise after all his injuries. Then there is the tiny Nohamba that is electric and a great kicker. Very brave player. Don’t forget about Masuka who, like Mpimpi is a late bloomer. I would invest in the latter.
I feel for Manie, when he is on fire he is amazing and I would want him any day. But his off days are equal to his good days. When is on fire, unstoppable. When he is off , he is horrendous.
