Right now our best Bok side is

15. Willemse 14. Kolbe 13. Am 12. de Allende 11. Arendse 10. Pollard 9. Williams 1. Ox 2. Marx 3. Malherbe 4. Etzebeth 5. RG Snyman 6. Kolisi 7. PSDT 8. Wiese

Our Bok side for tomorrow:

Great sides, but I don't think we'll see Kitsy coming back anytime soon.

I still don't like Willemse at 12. The shop has sailed for him to play in the 10 / 12 axis, I could be wrong but for me he is far too impulsive. I really like the kid Ethan Hooker, plays out of his skin every game and should claim the 12 jumper from Dr Allende.

No room for Hannekom, he is a must over the Tsisuka brothers anyday.

No thanks to Libbok, his time has passed. He will really need to show me he has BMT. I want to see him make a mistake in a game and then fight to correct any mistakes, not wait five games for the coaches to build him up.

Kriel is in the form of his life at the moment and Am has now been flat for the past two seasons now. He is just not getting back to that form. He is 30 and he will have to fight hard to keep likes of Moodie, Hooker and Julius out of the bok team. Kriel is finally showing his potential, only took him like 10 years, but why drop him. Him and Did are playing really well together and could make to the next world cup, although, do I want to see a 36 year old centre, probably not.

Disagree, 12 is the best spot for Willemse as de Allende and Esterhuizen are in their 30’s and Fassi is a must at 15

The best Bok backline moving forward has to have Fassi, Arendse, Moodie, Willemse and Sacha in it

Jurenzo Julius is going to be massive as well

I also like centres Henko v Wyk, David Kriel and Ethan Hooker

I also want to see Rassie cap Tyrone Green before England do

I prefer Am to Kriel, far more gifted and intelligent. Am has shown signs of getting back to his best. Am at his best is better than Kriel at his best. Kriel is robotic, Am is silky and rugby smart

I was reading about the Kitshoff injury this week. It seems he’s unsure as to whether he can play again.

Dec 19, 2024, 01:07

Time will tell but he turns 33 soon so if he does not make it back it’s not the end of the world

He has had a good run and it’s time to move on from our old guard

Dec 19, 2024, 01:12

He has and he’s lucky to be alive after such a serious injury.

Dec 19, 2024, 09:17

I agree on Am being way more intelligent, but you do need your 13 to have pace, Am just looks like he slowed down a bit and looks like Rassie wants to move him to 12, but may be to physical for him.

Julius looks good at age group.

I still don't get why the sharks and Plumtree still insist on selecting that journeyman Venter. Does nothing for the team. Just pick Hooker and Julius. Let them get game time.

With the Hendrikse brothers, Hooker, Julius, what a back line. Fassi at the back, just need a couple of decent wingers and they could be unstoppable. They have Ox and When with Kolisi in the pack not to mention the Tsisuka brothers. Saarks have it all, but I think plumbers days are done.

Malerbe had the sdame prolem as kitsie has and e was out of he game fr more than a year.   At 33 years of age he is likely not to play again.    Malherbe had the problem when he was 30 years old - so while Kitsie is 33 years old he is likely on the way out.

KC

At this stage De Allende is in full charge at 112 and as long as that is the case the back-up will be Willemse.    Esterhuizen is a problem at 12 producing on test level near to zero.    I think tht Wilemse is a much better 12 than Hooker will be. and the same applies to Kriel  My problem is there isa  huge difference between performance on franchise level and performace on test level and neither Hooker nor Kriel will ave to prove their ability to play test rugby.  I hop hey do - bu would rather not playing them at cener - rather t wing or full b ack to start their international career at.

Jurenzo Julius is injured at the moment otherwise I’m sure he would be playing ahead of Venter

Nothing Kriel has done of late has required out and out pace, I’m sure Am’s pace is fine

I’d take Am over Jessie all day long and I like Jessie

Jessie gives you robotic solid, Am gives you something special

There is zero indication from Rassie verbally or thru his selection that Willemse is the Back up for DDA at 12 now or in the future.

It’s clear where Rassie prefers him up till now and that is full back.

His main role has been that of a utility back. He is more suited to broken play in the Back 3 and can be lethal there.

He has been tried at 10/ 12, but with no great success. So those options seems to be out of reach for him, because he did not have good games there.

He is tried and tested at 15, but if the need arises, he can sub at 10,12 or 13.

Only time will tell if Rassie will even consider using Willemse at 12 on a more permanent basis.

Until then it’s assumption and more based on supporter personal preference.

Henco V Wyk is also more on Rassie,s radar than Jurenzo Julius.

After all Henco has been at the alignment camp and Rassie has verbally confirmed his interest in V Wyk.

Rassie has not mentioned Jurenzo as a possible candidate.

With the introduction of Hanekom and Ulrigh Louw and Wiese more settled at 8, I can’t see Roos braking those combo,s.

After all he has had plenty of chances and could not claim any of the loose trio spots.

Maybe with very good Performances at URC or Champions Cup Level, he might get a chance again.

Very unlikely with Louw already Trumping him and Cameron just so much better.

Manie Libbok is in a very similar position where he might be good for a couple of good passes or cross kicks.

But he is certainly not a dependable option to close out games for us.

His defence is poor and he is more of a liability, then someone you can rely on.

Dec 19, 2024, 13:00

Willemse was the option at 15 before Fassi was given an extended run at 15

Rassie was not faced with that option when Willemse was playing 15

Rassie has not shown his cards at all when it comes to the future at 12 so saying Willemse is not an option in his eyes is rugby ignorance

Of course Willemse is an option at 12, Rassie is not blind to the fact that Willemse has played a good bit of rugby at 12

Dec 19, 2024, 13:13

DDA and Esterhuisen are big12,s and Rassie has always opted for a strong 12 that can also do the work of a loose forward.

Carrying in traffic and securing rucks. Do you think Willemse has the necessary physical presence to play that role at 12?

I am not so sure. His creative play might be a welcome change in the 12 channel. As long as he doesn’t sacrifice the stability of defence.

Dec 19, 2024, 13:39

Stability of defense - you surely mean Eserhuizen is a problem in that regard.

Dec 19, 2024, 13:58

No Uncle CM I mean Willemse. Not that he is a weak defender as we have seen his cover defence is excellent.

The straight up defence in the middle field also means dealing with big bruising loose forwards coming at you with full speed.

This is one of the reasons Erasmus has opted for DDA and Esterhuisen as they can stop the big guys.

Esterhuisen has proven as one of the Bok 12,s, that he is rock solid in that department as well as his general play.

There is no evidence to back that Esterhuisen is not succeeding. Bias dislikes, unluckily does not count as Evidence or Proof.

Dec 19, 2024, 14:24

Stability in  Defense - surely you do not include that in respect of Esterhuizen.

Dec 19, 2024, 17:46

Willemse is not a DA or Esterhuizen in terms of sheer bulk but he is a big lad and as tough as nails so while carrying it up will not be his primary, he is equipped to do it much like Jordie would

If Willemse plays 12 then we will see him attempting to attack space more than contact - whether that works in modern test rugby is another story but Willemse is the best equipped to give it a go.

Considering that the only other viable future options at 12 are Hooker, David Kriel and Rickus Pretorious (if he ever returns to SA) none of these guys are built like Esterhuizen or DA either so there is going to have to be change in how we operate at 12 moving forward

Dec 20, 2024, 09:04

Roos is a very viable 12.

DDA can do nothing that Roos can't.

Dec 20, 2024, 11:04

Yeah and Father Xrated is another viable option at 12

Dec 20, 2024, 11:48

No he’s more of a prop, I think.

Dec 20, 2024, 12:10

In a Interview with Roos after his shoulder surgery, he stated himself that it will be difficult to get back in the Bok team due to the competitive competition.

He is just focussing on playing for the stormers again. Roos is a loose forward Becs, not a prop:)

Roos definitely has the pace to play 12…..

Dec 20, 2024, 14:14

No, I meant Father Christmas was more of a prop !

I know who Roos is ;)

Dec 20, 2024, 14:28

The easiest way of identifying a rugby noob  . . . when they want to play a back as a forward or a forward as a back.

Dec 20, 2024, 19:48

Yeah and Father Xrated is another viable option at 12

Father Xrated? What kind of Christmas shows are you watching Dave?

Dec 21, 2024, 11:03

Fuck knows Pakie if it’s not circumcised it’s Father Xrated :)

Dec 21, 2024, 15:01

As long as you don't start going on about some fat prick going up someone's chimney, Dave.

Dec 23, 2024, 17:56
