The 9's:

Jesse Kriel: Simply outstanding. He slotted in seamlessly after Lukhanyo Am’s injury and was a linchpin in the Boks’ world class defence. He is finally getting the plaudits his game deserves. 9

Handre Pollard: A heroic return to the squad after initially being left out. He was brought back for his goal-kicking and did not disappoint, nailing all 13 of his attempts. He may have been a bit shaky on defence, but his tactical kicking was on point, and he dragged the Boks over the line in the semi-final against England and scored all of South Africa’s points in the final a week later. 9

Pieter-Steph du Toit: A truly sensational tournament from the ever-present workhorse blindside flanker, who reminded the world of his world-class status. He will go down as one of the greatest Bok flankers, and rightly so. He produced a masterclass in tackling against New Zealand in the final and played at his usual high standard in the pool stages and knockouts. 9

Kwagga Smith: An outrageously good campaign from the Springboks’ ‘battle stats king’. He topped the turnover count in the tournament with 10, despite starting just once at the World Cup. He came alive in the knockout games, winning match-defining moments for his side, including three turnovers in the final and a match-winning penalty against France. 9

Eben Etzebeth: Produced an absolute blinder against France when South Africa needed it the most. He was similarly excellent against Scotland and Ireland and again in the final. He was one of the side’s best, as he led the charge in all facets of the game. 9

Deon Fourie: Picked as a flanker and emergency hooker for the tournament, the veteran answered the SOS in the front-row more often than he would have expected. He filled the role well and, in the final, had one of his career-best games after replacing Bongi Mbonambi early on. He was superb at the breakdown, made an unbelievable carry that led to Snyman’s try against England, and made a tremendous 20 tackles in the final. 9

Agree 100%...the 6 players who put a bit more into the team...was surprized about Jesse...not a fan, but he stepped up big time.

Yeah would have to agree

Utter rot Dud Toit was ordinary against England and awful against France where he dropped the ball over the goal line and missed 5 of his 14 tackle attempts.

Pure hype, Kriel was nowhere near a nine, nor was Deon Fourie even though he made a real contribution.

I’d say Etzebeth was an 8 and our best. He peaked against France. Pollard was obviously a 10 kicking, but more like an 8 overall. Dud I’d give a 7 based on his WC final….Fourie too.

Kriel was a 7….8 for defense and 6 for very ordinary offense.

Kwagga as a sub was a clear 8,

Moz...take a step back...this is unnecessary.

Bullshit PSDT was good in all the games and simply brilliant in the final

7 – Pieter-Steph du Toit – 4
Lacked his usual zip and menace around the fringe. Couldn’t get anywhere near England’s kickers. Was on the wrong side of the law on a few occasions and was perhaps unlucky at times. After consuming George Ford in the final four years ago, he left this one with an empty stomach.

...He will go down as one of the greatest Bok flankers...

Piet Spiere se kleinseun...but it's in the eye of the beholder...

That take is a load of shit

What rating did the worlds best 12 get?

...considering he is approaching 100 caps and 10 years of time investment.

Nov 10, 2023, 05:15

Also, Kwagga did nothing different to what he always does. And always has done.

The fact he doesn't start because "he's an impact player" is more of the nonsense we tell ourselves so many times that we eventually just believe it without question.

Planet Rugby always err on the side of emotion with their ratings.

10 years  100 tests   10 tries

Mozart's player assessment is based on prejudiced BS - so lets leave it there.    There is a reason why Du Toit was MOM of the final.     But then liesand distortions are used on site all the time anyway.

Poor old mozzz.

Yes DuToit will go down as one a the Great Bok flankers and rightly so. How embarrassing for mozzz to get this so horribly wrong.

8 hope the oaks now understand why I have said many times Deon Fourie could have been a great Bok number 6 or as a hooker. Look what he achieved at age 37!

Brilliantly fast, great fetcher and with a big engine. Great rugby brain as well.

Very happy that Rassie picked him and he got a chance to shine at the RWC.

Allende has had a fine test career. Plum has failed to appreciate this player and is doing what Mozzzz consistently does ie he ignores the positives and increasing exaggerates the negatives. It's a road thst leads to massive bias over time and ends up making the peddalar looking exceedingly absurd.

The truth is there is not much between Allende and AE. Experience won the day for Allende and he can be proud of his efforts.

Draad can you post all the Planer Rugby ratings?

Planet Rugby is the largest rugby site in the World. They of course know nothing about rugby according to Mozzz. They are all hype. Mozzzz of COURSE also  has NO RESPECT FOR THE IRB who voted PSDT as player of the year in 2019. Indeed the entire world is wrong about PSDT but poor deluded Mozzz is right.
