Under Jake the Snake - does he not know how to direct his side in the art of playing in the wind

What a toothless, directionless performance

Then we had the Stormers putting up a shit show - you know your side is in shit when you have JL du Plessis at 12

Dobson seems to have lost the plot - playing Morabe a great 8 at 6, another bit of dumb muscle in Englebrecht at 8

Stormers have an issue at prop especially loosehead - they either use Ali Vermaak or Brok Harris - both utterly useless

They would be ok if they had Kitshoff and Malherbe fit

They need to sort out their depth at centre as well. If only he knew he had the answers in Baby Boks - Boulle and Bruce Sherwood

Yes, I would have expected more kicking in the first half to make use of the wind at their back to play a territory game to keep the opposition in their quarter or at least their half.

Grubbers are very effective in windy conditions. Difficult to field, and they make lots of distance when they land in open space and continue rolling.

Man, the weather was superkak .............. going from the highveld to weather damnation.

Dec 09, 2024, 01:30

Hopefully they’ll still be rubbish when we play them this weekend !

Dec 09, 2024, 07:09

I gained the impression that both the Bulls and Stormers suffer from poor coaching and lack of a backline pivot that work,s.      With all due respect both teams were shit where coaching needs are getting more.

Juarno Augustus: Ulster signing excited to join 'historic' club after agreeing three-year deal with Ravenhill – Cfic-squadrone629 × 419

Dec 09, 2024, 08:42

Ja, the weather was really Saracens grounds is 10km from my house. Was planning to get some tickets for my boy and I to go watch but it was so bloody expensive and then the weather and quality of the game.

I hate how poor the bulls play. So reliant on forwards and often get isolated. Those one off carries killed me.

Jake's time is over as a coach. Bring back Johan Ackermann and Swys. Or give it to a coach that can transform the team like Dave Rennie.

Jake is fine with young talent.

This is also his longest coaching gig. Probably still hoping to coach England

Dec 09, 2024, 09:36

Jake must fuck off

Dec 09, 2024, 11:33

I was surprised to see how easy it was for Sararcens, they played far more pragmatic game. They knew in the first half it was just to limit damage. Anyone in England, Dave you know, some days you just can't get up the pitch, you constantly fighting the wind, possess are harder, kicks go backwards etc. You lucky to get to the 50 m line. You just want to hold onto possession. It was madness to think you can run it from your 22. You just want to play the edges and use the safety of the touchline. If you go out, you know the throw is 50/50 and easy line out defence.

But I agree, Bools are playing dumb rugby and runs out of ideas and just end up being frustrating to watch as you know one of their forward runners is going to to turn the ball over.

The Bulls have been splashing the cash on players for some years now and the fact that they're still this crap points to only one thing . . . poor coaching. Joke White remains the most overrated coach in rugby history.

Dec 09, 2024, 12:50

Agreed Rooi Jake is crap, has a WC pinned to his name thanks to Eddie Jones and the easiest WC ever - which I’ll happily take

Dec 09, 2024, 13:14

Indeed.

To think some rugby noobs among us gave this plodder god-like status when he won a RWC where we were placed in the easiest group, had only to beat Fiji and Argentina in the knockout stages (two countries who up to that point had never beaten the Springboks in their entire history) and then only had to beat England in the final (having demolished them 36-0 in the group stages) and nearly screwed that up.

The same noobs still have the nerve to bleat about Rassie being lucky.

LMAO!

Dec 09, 2024, 14:06

The same old tedious argument..Fiji was a much tougher test  than Japan in 2019. And at least they played against 15 man England not 14 man NZ in the final.

Jake also won his first TN with a team that lost badly  in the WC Quarters 8 months before.

Shame, poor (sic) and Rambo Dave still smarting about Luke Watson…the love never ends

Dec 09, 2024, 15:17

Mozart

That was garbage in 2007 when the ranking s of teams were ss follows especially relating to the RWC.    Fiji wa ranked the number 11 ranked team in World  Rugby.   In the 2019 rankings Japan was ranked number 9 and Fiji was stillr anked at 11/

The actual rankings in 2019 was as follows:-.

New Zealand (1). England (2). Australia (3). Ireland (4). Scotland (5). France (6). South Africa (7). Wales (8). Argentina (9). Japan (11). Georgia (12). Italy ...

So your statement that Fiji in 2007 was a much stronger team in 2007 than Japan was in 2019 is based on BS d3duxtions.   So lets ook at the teams Japan beat in 2019.  They beat both Ireland (Ranked 4) and Sctland (Ranked 5) in their round robin matches and endd up as the top ranked team in their group.

So your statement that Fiji in 2007 was a much stronger team in 2007 than Japan was in 2019 is based on BS deductions.

Dec 09, 2024, 15:28

Actually no….Fiji had the backline to hurt the Boks, the best backline at the WC in 2007. We accepted the challenge and tried to beat them in a wide open game. That didn’t work, so Jake being the astute coach he is, switched tactics.

Japan in 2019 had nothing that could hurt us…they never had a chance.

Dec 09, 2024, 16:10

B S - they had eveything to beat Ireland who after the Tri-ations and the RC was raned no 1 and France number 2 with New Zealand at 4 at the start of the RWC in 2019.   So Japan was shit in playing against Ireland - absolute bSi am afraid.

Is th tam amde up of only backine players and not included forwrds?   Fiji in 2007 was anked at the number 11 team prely because of poor firwd play and that is a fact.   Nt that the 2007 frwards were much beter than Fiji - hey struggld initially against th defective Fiji firwrds and also he English forwards in he Final.

There is no comarison between th 2007 team f he Springboks of 2019,   The latter team played 10 times better rugby than the 2007 team did.  .    .

Dec 09, 2024, 17:03

Bullshit Fiji where nowhere near as good as the Japs in 2019 not even close

Ah that bullshit 2023 final shit again playing against 14 when the Boks had 14 men for 20 min and played without a specialist hooker for 78 min - try again

Not to mention having to play Ireland, Scotland, France, England and NZ to win it

Jake had the easiest WC ever - that’s a FACT, Rassie in 23 had the hardest WC ever and that’s a FACT

Polar opposite campaigns - FACT

Dec 09, 2024, 17:20

The difference between Jake the Snake and Rassie can probably be summed up in Luke Watson - Jake got all petulant about playing Luke because he is a prick, Rassie would have had Luke eating out of his hands

Rassie is the kind of coach you die for, Jake the kind you feel like every session is endured with a hangover

Chalk and cheese player management styles

Dec 09, 2024, 18:46

They never had a specialist hooker…..because the genius never thought he needed one. If that was a problem, and it wasn’t, it would be all because Rasmus was too stupid to realize he needed Pollard from the off.

Did you love your man Manie’s performance on Saturday?

Dec 09, 2024, 18:52

My man Manie - I am not as nuts as you are.   I have been saying  for months  he is shit and differ from Dave on him.    So you are barking up the wrong tree.

Dec 09, 2024, 19:03

Augustus played as well as I’ve seen him play for us on Saturday, blob.

Shame he’s leaving at the end of the season !

Dec 09, 2024, 19:17

Rassie was so stupid that we ended up winning the final despite no hooker because Rassie was astute enough to realise that Fourie’s all round contribution outweighed his set piece deficiencies

And therein lies the genius of Rassie - something you can’t comprehend

Pretty obvious really

Manie was super shit on Saturday

Dec 09, 2024, 19:20

Dave, 2019 Japs were a real threat. They beat both Ireland and Wales and won their pool. So they were the best team from the group. Ireland just couldn’t keep up. That was a well coached team that got undone by brutal boks team that didn’t buy into flashy rugby.

Then to beat England in Finals who was at the time the bet team in the world. The boks stayed level headed.

Don’t get me started on 2023. Those guys were went to war. They played the top 5 teams five weeks in a row. By the time the final rolled in they were sapped, but hung in there. We will never see any team manage that or ever get the same opportunity

Dec 09, 2024, 20:04

Time for him to come home becs.

Dec 09, 2024, 20:07

He’s going to Ulster !

Dec 09, 2024, 22:14

Yeah King, Japan were a breath of fresh air that WC, they played amazing attacking rugby

What’s so disappointing is that they have failed to carry that forward post the WC

They have become so disappointing
