In the case of rugby a lot of issues encountered by Aussie Rugby has been dealt with recently on this site - but what about cricket?

The latter became pertinent when Australia fqailed to reach the semi-final stage in the T20 World Cup series when beaten by Afghanistan in the West Indies and the USA.   The question is what is going  on in cricket in Australia?

I beleive in Australia the issue of money availabkle is undermining Australian rugby - helped along by the destruction of Super Rugby on the behest of the New Zealnd Rugby authrotities.   The cash cow of that series was Supersport and the Aussie Rugby benefitted from that one even more than SA Rugby benefitted from it.

But what is h e problem in Aussie cricket.  Going through  the squad in the present series there ia a real problem in evidence and that is the question of aging  players like the following:-

Mitchell Marsh         -  32

Pat Cummins             -  31

Josh Hazlewood        -   33

Glenn Maxwell          -   35

David Warner             -   38

Mitchell Starc            -   34

Thse are key players in he starting 11 of any Aussie team and although  are a few young er players in that line-up it is clear that some of the above needs urgent replacement - but is there youngsters coming through to replace them?

Therea re a few like Head and Green w ho ccame throug - but is that enough?

Is cricet a sport that is in decline in Australia as well?

No way. Rugby is attacked on two fronts, NRL and AFL. Both are very popular, highly paid and professional. T20 isn't exactly the yardstick to use when evaluating the standard of cricket, besides who won the last ODI WC?  South Africa only plays one code of football if you ignore soccer. Oz with its rich cricket culture will always be a force in world cricket.

Flip a coin and that's your T20 winner.

Get a grip Mike!

Australia is No.1 in Test cricket and holder of the Test Championship Trophy along with being holders of the ODI World Cup.

Hardly smacks of a decline in their cricket standards does it???

It was just a question - not a statement of fact - thanks for the comments though.

Aussie rugby is a distant 3rd to AFL and NRL, always has been and always will be.

As much as I hate Aussie cricketers you have to give them credit for being the best by a country mile, they are the All Blacks of the cicketing world.

You have posted some shit on here in your time Mike but I think this thread takes the award as your dumbest yet and that certainly takes some doing considering your other posts

Epically dumb, but Clever’s dumbest posts are casting Russia in the role of the aggrieved nation.
