So, we normally moan that we don't have our best players in SA that we lose many to overseas clubs but I have noticed a trend over the last few years that we have many former boks return to SA.
It starte with a few back around 2020 with Marcel Coetzee and Johan Goosen making their way back. They were good to form but since have had many injury niggles.
Just this year we have seen return of Pollard and Jan Serfontein, with the latter only playing a few games before disappearing.
Over at the sharks we see the likes of Kolisi, Bongi, Estebeth
and at the Bulls we have Vorster, Carr and Le Roux still kicking about.
Normally these players just stay in France until they hit around 40 and finally pack it in but it looks like they have opted to come back to SA.
We really needed them between 25 and 30 not in when they are in their twilight of their career.
What we see now is Willie holding up a prime full back position and the bools are not blooding any new players in that position.
Pollard has been really poor with his form and haven't done anything for the bulls.
Etzebeth is constantly injured
It is not like these players are lighting up the field, the other is also the cost to the franchises as they are demanding huge pay packets.
We would normally see boks go an retire in Japan, France and the UK but now they are using SA as their pension pot.
Wonder if Rugby up north has become to demanding and maybe they have an arm chair ride.
I almost feel like there should be a limit of how many older players are allowed to come back and play in SA.
What was the point of Fourie playing at 37, yes, he became a bok, yes he played in the final, but he is nearly 40 and holding up a spot at the stormers. They should just cut him lose
What are your thoughts, should we allow these boks to come at 30+ or should we focus on the talent we have right now.
