Going to Twickers on Sunday

My son, the rugby coach is hopefully going to guide his side to a Cup victory and in the process maintain their unbeaten record for the season. 27 and 0 at the moment. What an experience to play at Twickers

However I feel a bit of a bad omen - when I go watch him either playing or coaching they lose

Once was an inter varsity game he played in and the other as coach of a Uni side

But I’m going and hoping the omen is but a myth :)

May 05, 2023, 01:43

No such thing as omens…..go to Twickenham, and congrats to your son.

May 05, 2023, 10:44

Well done, Saffex.

I'm sure you must be very proud and will be even more proud on Sunday.

Post some pictures here for us. Would like to see the celebrations. If they're on a 27 streak, getting to 28 is just a formality. Good luck man!!!

PS By the sounds of things you should probably be consulting with your son before posting here :)

May 05, 2023, 11:44

Thanks chaps good one Plum

How do you post pictures on here?

May 05, 2023, 12:05

All good, Saffex.

Get the pics of the game and then I'll post a guide for you when I'm back in SA next week on how to put them up here.

It's quite simple but does require a few steps.

May 05, 2023, 13:13

It’s brilliant news, isn’t it ?

Keeping everything crossed you get the right result :D

May 05, 2023, 13:27

I have a pic I want to put on now

May 05, 2023, 14:24

Well done to you son on his coaching and I am sure he will come home with the prize.

I know it makes a parent very proud to see their offspring win as a player or a coach and to come this far is is even better.

Extend our best wishes to the young man and inform him that we are all on his side.

Thanks AJ

May 06, 2023, 08:01

Congrats Dave. No need to worry about bad omens unless Rooitwit backs your sons team!

May 06, 2023, 08:06

Sorry, Saffex...was travelling.

1) Save this site to your bookmarks https://imgbb.com/

2) Open the site and click start uploading

3) Select the image you want to upload

3) Click upload image

4) You will now see that the site has created a URL(looks like a web link) for the image.

5) I normally go where the URL is and click the drop-down menu...then I select "Full HTML" and I copy that link

6) Then go to Ruckers and above the box that you normally type in to make a post, is a row of Icons...one of them looks like a photograph.

7) Type a word or two into the thread first else when you try do the rest of this it may not work and won't upload the image. Then hit enter so that you are in a new line. Click the photograph and it should make a box pop up. Paste the URL that you copied in there and underneath that enter 500 up to 800 for size.

8) Then click send/post or what ever it says on that box.

It can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but normally if you type a word or two first and then enter the image into the thread it should be fine.

"Congrats Dave. No need to worry about bad omens unless Rooitwit backs your sons team"

Hahaha this site man...you guys crack me up

May 06, 2023, 12:20

Imgur and Dropbox also works.

May 06, 2023, 17:03

Okay so after you get the link on Imgur, you presumably post it under the photo above….do you do anything else, I just get the question mark

When you click on icon of the photo above this box, it already has "http://"...

So I first delete that so the url box is totally empty, then I past the full url from the image hosting site into the box. The hosting site that I linked above tends to work the best for me, and only when I select "HTML full linked" from the drop-down menu as opposed to the default which is "viewer links".

Remember to type a word or two, or even just a couple of full stops into your post first and then hit enter so you're on a new line...and then all the photo uploading stuff. This site doesn't seem to like one posting just a picture in an OP/reply

I've got to take my hat off to your boy, that's a tremendous achievement. I've been to Twickenham a few times, always a great atmosphere.

May 06, 2023, 21:10

Dave, hope it was a good day for your son and you were able to enjoy a nice few cold beers today with a celebration

May 07, 2023, 00:32

Plum thanks for those clear instructions. I’m seeing Steph now but there is a question mark next to the image, which makes me think my computer is recognizing the item and filling in the missing image. Is anybody else seeing this?

May 07, 2023, 06:44

Mine does that too, Moz.

You'll see when you use the "HTML Full linked" it' has some characters before and after the pre-image that are extra. I normally just delete them before clicking "post"...

The reason I still use "HTML full" is because it's the most consistent.

May 07, 2023, 10:40

Poor Piet...his neck is either too big or it's broken.

May 07, 2023, 11:27

I did a little bit of photo shopping on Steff! But your system works for me then…..thanks.

May 07, 2023, 12:27

Ja, I see you made Piet's neck considerably shorter...was that to avoid having an aspect ratio of 1200/40. Very kind of you

;)

May 07, 2023, 12:53

Hahaha!

May 07, 2023, 14:24

How did things go Dave?

May 07, 2023, 22:40

What a great day was surprised to see how much support the clubs had

My boys side were very convincing winning 53-19

It was an arm wrestle for the first 30min with the opposition relying heavily on playing it narrow amongst some hefty forwards. Their maul was difficult to stop but the forwards hung in there and once they started to provide the backs with ball it was a different ball game

My boys backs cut the opposition to shreds - very good centres and some clout out wide

Had a good few jugs at Twickers followed by a few more in The Shack which was hired out by the club

Proud day and I was mostly impressed with the standard of play by amateur players

Rugby is alive and well in the lower ranks

May 07, 2023, 23:41

A memorable day.

May 08, 2023, 08:19

Congrats Dave….this time around your presence was a good omen : )

May 08, 2023, 08:21

Where are the pics, Saffex?

One thing about England, lower leagues are always very well supported. A great mix of government and community involvement. It's why they're always there or thereabouts in so many sports.

Thanks Plum it works :)

May 08, 2023, 13:24

Well done.

You must be very proud of your sons achievements as a player and a coach,

Another Proud Dad.

May 08, 2023, 14:13

Well done Dave, what a fantastic achievement dude

May 08, 2023, 14:45

Thanks guys - yes very very proud

Tears in the eyes moment

May 08, 2023, 15:10

When's your boy going to save us from Erasmus? ;)

You're right about the amateur game. There's a rich and thriving culture for the game in England. The level of professionalism goes deeper than in SA in my opinion.

May 09, 2023, 18:31

I was lucky enough to watch the game at home and it really was most enjoyable.

It was a great achievement for Saffex’s son and I know he’s a really proud dad :D

May 09, 2023, 20:35

I watched the game last evening on YouTube, it was a good display

May 09, 2023, 21:07

It was good, wasn’t it ? Really pleased to see there was a lack of caterpillar rucks too !

May 09, 2023, 21:46

My boy has his hands full trying to retain some of his players - the 13 and prop are 19 year olds and will be snapped up by one of the Prem clubs soon

May 09, 2023, 21:50

Congratulations to your son, you must really proud. Hopefully this would lead to hire honours an possibly an international team.

Great to see a father and son sharing the same passion

May 09, 2023, 23:35

Oh yeah, he’s going to coach England, just you wait and see !

May 10, 2023, 07:12

You know they say that talent skips a generation, Saffex?

We now have confirmation hahaha

Just kidding man!!!

Congrats, and I hope there are many more honours to come.
