He was good. I was worried about him pre match and had my fears realised ! 

Hanekom is the real deal, the new Duane Vermeulen.
Both are all-rounders who could play in any position in the back row.

I am also thinking that Hanekom could be a number 6, given that the depth here is the weakest for the Boks. He is certainly one of the best fetchers - if not the best in SA at the moment. 

At 6.4 he's pretty big for an openside, but he operates well on the ground so it should not be an issue.

You guys have been talking about him for a bit now, I've yet to see him play, think if there was an Ozzie and AB URC team we'd better our chances of getting a feed. Until then I'll have to wait and see if he plays in a Bok side.

Have always been mpressed by the massive talent Hanekom showed at a young age - same as Sacha did and also Roos.   I think those arr the futre of loose forwards to be part of attacking ruby by the Springboks.  For that you need both having ball sense, strengh and pace.   Three playes mentioned embody much of what  Du Toit has shown can be done by loose forwards  can achieve when properly coached and utilized,   

One of that I believe in what my farther said when he took us to watch rugby tests - the most important requiremnt for Springbok rugby is for players to have BALL SENSE.   In othr words the players who are outstanding are those who  can read the flow of the game and appear where the action is and turn defense into attack.

That is why I admire the three players I mentioned as top class players with abilitie like the Great P-S du Toit have had ever since his Under 20 performances.   That is what makes me happyy about the future of loose fowards in future,    Du Toit set the norm and Hankom and Roos follow that example to the T.

Anyway, the starting loose trio for the next WC looks like it'll be Wiese, Hannekom...and I still think Roos has the goods, but not at 8, because that is Wiese's spot. 

Roos and Hennekom are basically the same person...Cameron 193cm and Roos 191cm, both at around 110KG. Both very mobile, hyper-aggressive and good ball skills with a nose for an opportunity...and both of them are quick for boys their size. 

Defies convention but I like Wiese for 8 and then the Universal twins on either side of the scrum.

Wese is t an attack-oriented player and is tring to copy unsccessfully Vermulen.    He is slow and not a ball sese player.   I think he is not going to be a long term prospect since he is not rreally a  factor in sttacking rugby play,   He is nt the class player Vermelen ws and showed nothing special in tet matches he played in.

Wiese is a good old-style player - when it comes to attacking  play he is a dead loss.   Yor ide of playing all players at 12 is total BS.   Estehuizen is a dead flop becaus he cannt play at 12 and ther is at present no vacancy  since the back-up player for De Allende is Willemse.

Like it or not Rassie sees Esterhuisen as DDA,s back up, as proven with his team selections and also Rassie saying it personally.

Willemse is a hot stepper yes, but he lacks the physical strength that Esterhuisen and DDA has.

I am not sure at all. He is best served as a Full Back/ Utility Back, because that is where he has been tried and tested.

He had a blinder earlier this year against Leinster, but couldn't replicate that performances the week after, but his last 3 games has been at that quality. So he is definitely on the up and one to watch for the future. 

I'm not sure I like moving specialist players around as I want players to be the best in their position. It is okay to have a couple of players around that can cover a more than 1 position, but why not convert one of the hookers to an opensider roles. I thought Marx would have been perfect for a number 6 role and we could have used him instead of Van staden with two specialist hookers. 

Hopefully next year he'll get a crack for the boks

I am not as impressed as you are about Wiese - he rarely show much at 8 but I must admi he did better than expced against the English,   To my mind is a por Vrmeulen that played the same  game as Vrmeulen used o play with tp disctincion.   What is noadays peferred is nt a tight 5 losie - byut playes that can join the backline in attacking playand I have seen nothing of that in iese,  . 

De Allende is still regarded by experts as the best 12 in World Rugby nd he will be etained as that being in evidence rmains.   Estehuizen had s the body weight - but not the required ball sense and too slow  in pace )which is a liability in defense as well.   He has now plaed in 20 tsts and was not the playe expected froma  12  - in  20 tests no tries scored and no try-assist either,   Willemse has enough physical strength to play a 12 and he has both pace and ball sense which Esterhizn lacks,    I will indeed be surprised if Esterhuizn is again called up to the Springbok squad in 2025.    I will happen only if Willemse is not avilable.
