I know some would have been annoyed earlier in the week when I said that Jasper is my guy until somebody else steps up and can do better.

I think that, as good as Hanekom is, he's gonna have to do very well to get the jersey from Jasper.

I think that Roos is quite a long way off and has even more to prove that Hanekom does.

Jasper had more than proven he can do it and do it very well. Will Henekom's body hold up? Will Roos ever possess Jasper's go-forward? It'll be interesting to see how they get on. For now, Jasper has runs on the board. It's gonna take a lot to knock them off and honestly I think the only one that could is Hanekom.

Nice to see Pakie giving him credit during the game. For all the hype everybody else gets, you just don't see Jasper having a bad game and yet he's hardly ever discussed. No worries boys, we'll hype him up for you.

There are still some that hold a couple of penalties early in his test career against him, but in the 26 caps since then he's been nothing but excellent. And there are still those that see him as dumb muscle...which doesn't even deserve comment.

Another excellent game today. Well done, yster!

Totally agree.

jasper is also still getting better.

he hasn’t reached his ceiling yet.

He is no Duane Vermuelen, but he is one of the strongest ball carriers, getting over the advantage line at will. He brings physicality.

Dianne was a Rottweiler.

jasper is a pitbull.

both effective.

Jasper is only weaker at fetching, but he's on par or better everywhere else.

Am I wrong?

Jasper has 8 nailed down, and although I hate to admit it, Eskom had his best match for the Bokke ever...expected brawn without the usual brain farts.

I liked yesterday's loosie trio a lot.

Very happy that Tsitsuka, lineouts aside, looks like he's gonna fit in well.

And it really highlights why Roos has to wisen up with how he plays. He's never gonna be more powerful than Eskom, Jasper or Tsitsuka. They are all three bashers that are hard to stop with ball in hand. They can all actually run over people.

Roos really needs to look at Hanekom and realise that his style of play is what he needs to emulate because he will simply never be Jasper. You can't offer a worse version of the same thing and expect to be selected.

The good news is that it's well within Roos' ability because he really is a good athlete with hands and speed. He just needs to make more use of his natural talents and stop thinking he's the Hulk.
