With people's attention on losies were largely concentrated n Hanekom and Roos as potental loosies - I for teh firt time ctually on reviw looke at Theunissen and De Villiers of the Stormers on Satirday. Both scored ties n the try scoring spree th Stomes were involved in.

De Villiers is a snmall guy with a high work rate - but I do not thinke he is a real contender for Springbok elecion - but I was more impressed with Theunissen. He looks very much that can play well at 7 - He is about the same size in height as Roos and Hanekom - but weigh 10 kg less than the other two.mentioned as top clas losies,

In the tryscoring stakes in the URC the stats are as follows:-

Roos - 53 matches played - tries scored 17

Hanekom - 58 matches played - tries scored 4

Theunssen 14 matches played - trries scored 2

Although a bit on the light side I would like to see him as a potential replacement for Du Toit against weaker opposition.

What do you think on that situation please.

"Although a bit on the light side I would like to see him as a potential replacement for Du Toit against weaker opposition."

Why against weaker opposition. If you do t see him playing against stronger opposition then why even entertain his inclusion at all?

As a preprtion for the future - since evebdy expect that Du Toit will be 7 in the RWC 2027

No Theunissen is definitely not a replacement for du Toit as he is by no stretch a blindside

He is a great player but predominantly a 6 who could cover 8

de Villiers had the kind of performance that has put him on the map

His younger brother is the Oakdale No 8 - they look alike

Theunissen has played good Rugby for the stormers at blindside on regular occasions…

So he is more than capable to play effectively at blindside.

Paul de Villiers is a live wire 6 with great potential….let’s hope he doesn’t get overlooked…

PdV reminds of Deon Fourie...hope he takes the step up in years to come.

OK

Lets it smd see what happens. I liked the Stormy loosies yesterday and also their abckline performance, I am sure Benetton never suffered a bigger loss than they did yesterday, I lso remembe rhow the Bulls lost against thenm as well a zebre earlier in the season because of White's sht team selection.

Benetton on being 5th on the log beat a lot of teams until the Stormer Tsunami got them out to number 8 on the log.

The sa team ove he last to Rounds face the following oppoisition:-

Round 17

Sharks vs Ospreys - 11th on log - 38 points

Bulls vs Cardiff - 5th on the log - 46 points

Stormers vs Dragons - 16th on the log - 9 points

Round 18

Sharks vs Scarlets - 11th on log - 38 points

Bulls vs Dragons

Stormers vs Cardiff

For the three SA teams it i essential they win to maintain their log positiosn or imprve on it,

Incidentally the Lions games are equally important for them - there even is a small chance of them getting into the top 8 teaams. If they beat Scarlers and Ospreys in their remaining two matches they can potentially get them to beween 43 and 45 points and depending on he Top 8 teams loosing their matches they can make the quarterfinals - a very small chance - but still a chance. .
