Interested to see how this one plays out

Feb 28, 2026, 14:34

Lions win a penalty from their first scrum in halfway

Feb 28, 2026, 14:37

Lions looking sharp with early pressure on the Stompies

F Horn showing that 8s can chip and chase too

Feb 28, 2026, 14:38

Early days. Lions are battles so this could be a hard game.

Feb 28, 2026, 14:40

And now Batho don't release before getting up and gets penalised

Feb 28, 2026, 14:41

Sacha trying from 60m on the hughveld

got the legs but not the radar

0-0

Feb 28, 2026, 14:42

Hi Beeno

Feb 28, 2026, 14:46

Leeus cutting the Stmpies open in the middle of the field and getting just short of the line....

Sacha showing some brilliance collecting his own high ball too

Feb 28, 2026, 14:48

Hi there Plumpster. Hope you won't be going on about AE during the match.

Just saying!

Feb 28, 2026, 14:50

I noticed a number of Lions players went to WP schools.

Feb 28, 2026, 14:52

Geez, 17 minutes gone and so many set pieces so far

Feb 28, 2026, 14:53

The Stompies need points here Beeno...second half will be difficult for the soft coastal lover boys

Feb 28, 2026, 14:54

Now Sacha attempts a droppie that might be the worst I've ever seen

Feb 28, 2026, 14:55

Sascha drop goal hardly leaves the ground.

Very physical battle among the forwards.

Feb 28, 2026, 14:57

Try time for the lions...

Great take of the high ball by Davids, Frank Horn kept up, few offloads and its try time Leeus.

Feb 28, 2026, 14:58

Plumpster the words soft can never be applied to the Mighty Stormers!

Reminds me of tbe unhinged Card calling the Boks soft. Too funny for words!

Defence lapse by Stormers allows a Lions try!

Feb 28, 2026, 15:00

Lions with good basic skills keeping them on top at the moment

Feb 28, 2026, 15:00

Stormers backs not reading the play.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:01

Stormers better score next!

Feb 28, 2026, 15:02

Look like another score for the Leeus through VD Berg chipping over the top and Mpheku and Henco chasing, with Henco ultimately scoring

Big pressure on the Stompies now

Feb 28, 2026, 15:03

The Stormers need AE to lead them, Beeno

Feb 28, 2026, 15:03

Reinach again has been a non entity.

MVDB out playing him.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:04

You couldn't resist it Plumpster. Hahahahahaha.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:06

"Reinach again has been a non entity."

Baboon-ou, if you haven't noticed Cobus Reinach it's because . . . ummmm . . . he's not playing.

Just keeping things real.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:06

Hard luck Stormers held up. No try.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:07

Took half an hour but the Stompies finally have some pressure territory inside the Leeus 22 as Sacha kicks to the corner for a lineout...

Feb 28, 2026, 15:09

Batho is damn powerful.

really hope he kicks on...looks such a nice kid.

The Stonpies fluffed their best chance of the game and Henco breaks out

Feb 28, 2026, 15:09

Hi Rooi

Feb 28, 2026, 15:09

van Wyk breaks from the line….Stormers looking a bit soft.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:11

Morne van der Bergh is a competitor, wouldn’t be surprised to see him emerging as the Bok incumbent.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:11

Big scrum just inside the Lions half now...this one will be telling...Stompies out in

...and they win the penalty. Sacha goes to the corner for a lineout...

Feb 28, 2026, 15:13

What is Sacha doing!!!??? Kick the damn ball man

Feb 28, 2026, 15:13

Another great contribution by van der Bergh.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:14

Yes sorry it's Ungerer.. Too busy keeping Plumpster real about AE!!!

Stormers should have a try by now.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:15

Lions forgoing the 3 as they now set up a lineout in the Stompies corner but then then screw up the lineout.

Id have taken the 3 there

Feb 28, 2026, 15:16

Heya Moz

Feb 28, 2026, 15:16

Do you guys know the US and Israel are attacking Iran?

Feb 28, 2026, 15:17

I think Venter might on the bench, Moz.

I wanted to see him carry Roos across the field haha

Feb 28, 2026, 15:18

Great scrum by the Stormers on their own line.

...and then Sacha missed touch

Feb 28, 2026, 15:19

NZ should quake when they see all the African school kids cheering on their teams. Lions tighthead is being owned

Feb 28, 2026, 15:19

Beeno, you know you guys need AE. Every teams needs an AE

Feb 28, 2026, 15:19

Mighty Stormers pump the Lions scrum.

You could use the edit function to sort out your fake news heading Plumpster. Soft my foot!

Feb 28, 2026, 15:20

Yes Plum he is a good number 6.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:20

Indeed Moz. The interest in the game in SA is only growing! Great to see

Smith attempts 3 from halfway on half time...he misses it

14-0 into the break

Feb 28, 2026, 15:21

Hi Plum, HasBeen, Rondha…..I think Venter must be injured, he isn’t in the match line up.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:23

Ruan Venter failed concussion tests.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:24

Sacha having a bit of a 'mare today.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:24

"Ruan Venter failed concussion tests"

Damnit!

Feb 28, 2026, 15:29

Agreed, as it is the Stormers loosies haven’t been able to impose themselves yet.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:31

The Stompies don't seem to want to kick. Sacha should be dropping bombs into the Lions 22.

The amount of times they've lost the ball in contacts is crazy. Lions making almost double the amount of tackles and yet winning the game by two scores after 40.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:36

Early penalty and Sacha opting to get on the scoreboard.

14-3

Feb 28, 2026, 15:39

Softie Stompies trying to reduce the deficit in increments of three while the Lions just carry on scoring tries.

21-3.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:40

Great play by the Lions. You have to love VD Berg and F Horn.

Frank is so underrated. Always there to contribute

Try converted

21-3

Feb 28, 2026, 15:41

Lions just playing easy rugby and doing the basics right.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:42

One of those games where everything Sacha touches turns to mud.

At least we know he's human.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:42

And now Sacha drops one...

'mare indeed

Feb 28, 2026, 15:44

I'm still to watch a Stormers game where Roos is the best loosie on the field.

He's being outdone by quite a few loosies today.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:45

Another scrum penalty against the Lions

Feb 28, 2026, 15:47

Stompies get their first try after the Lions defence disintegrates.

Hang on, looks like there may have been obstruction by Roos. Think this will get chalked off . . . looks good to me.

No, he wasn't wrapped. No try.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:48

Maul try Stompies.

I think that lineout take was Dayimani's first touch since he came on

...but now it looks like Roos obstructed...

damn that's mega deflating for the Stompies

Lol try cancelled

Feb 28, 2026, 15:48

Well at last a great Stormers drive that demolishes the wee Lions!

But no try. We could of had at least two!

I think I am off for a run. Trying to lower my time by doing a new training Regime. Run a klm quick, slow down, run another klm quick etc

I will probably miss a great Stormers comeback!

Feb 28, 2026, 15:49

Geez, what a clearance from Quan

Feb 28, 2026, 15:49

Enjoy the run Beeno

Feb 28, 2026, 15:50

Yeah, the ref is trying his best make it a contest

Feb 28, 2026, 15:52

Nice soft pass by Roos creates the try for Schickerling and Stompies finally have a try. Sacha converts. 21-10.

Feb 28, 2026, 15:53

Stompies finally get a score!

Though, that scrum penalty that gave the the territory was dubious as hell.

P Divvy back on after passing his HIA

Feb 28, 2026, 16:00

Lions escape some pressure after Sacha tries to bring the other guys into it with some nice delayed passes.

20 minutes to go and they need 15 points

Ive missed a few Stompie games this season but it really does seem as though when Sacha plays like a normal 10 the Stormers have nothing else

Feb 28, 2026, 16:01

Great tackle by Sacha!!!

Feb 28, 2026, 16:03

Mistakes creeping in now for the Leeus!

Feb 28, 2026, 16:05

Can't fault the Lions commitment on defence but that pass should have gone to Roos for a simple try.

Feb 28, 2026, 16:06

Phew that was close...Quan Horn with a nice bit of play to hold the Stormers up over the line.

So glad he made it into the Bok alignment camp.

Feb 28, 2026, 16:08

The AHV is falling into that contact and now the Lions will eat a yellow.

This reffing is so damn stupid

Feb 28, 2026, 16:09

So, just fall into the tackle a buy yellows!

That is a penalty only, never a bloody yellow.

Feb 28, 2026, 16:13

Lions survive.

And now the ref is checking another tackle where again the Stormers player has basically gone down to his knees!!!

Jirre another yellow.

Fucking great...just duck into tackles and you win the game.

Honestly, I cannot stand how these stupid bloody refs seem to have no common sense

Feb 28, 2026, 16:16

After all that rubbish, the Lions hold the Stormers up over the line.

9 minutes to go...

24-10

Feb 28, 2026, 16:19

Did Frank just score?

Looked like he dropped it and caught it agajn!?

Feb 28, 2026, 16:20

Knocked on...drop out

Feb 28, 2026, 16:21

Ref totally misses Stormers not back 10

Feb 28, 2026, 16:23

Game sis in the bag for the Lions as the Stormers totally fail to take advantage of playing against 13 men

Feb 28, 2026, 16:26

Ref calls Lions not back 10 and 5 minutes later doesn’t call the Stormers for a worse example of the same thing. Rugby reffing remains irandom

Feb 28, 2026, 16:28

Lions take the game

They won this by doing the basic right and allowing Stormers to make mistakes

Feb 28, 2026, 16:29

"Ref calls Lions not back 10 and 5 minutes later doesn’t call the Stormers for a worse example of the same thing. Rugby reffing remains irandom"

He wants a free house in Cape Town ;)

Feb 28, 2026, 16:29

That’s it…great play by the Lions. I can’t see Erasmus being impressed by de Villiers or Roos based on this game.

Feb 28, 2026, 16:30

Maybe the outhouse based on his reffing today.

Feb 28, 2026, 16:30

Crappies MOTM yet again

Feb 28, 2026, 16:30

Damn, I forgot this was on at 2.

Feb 28, 2026, 16:32

"That’s it…great play by the Lions. I can’t see Erasmus being impressed by de Villiers or Roos based on this game."

F Horn doing the business every week and making a difference. He's way ahead of Roos in my book

Pity that he keeps being overlooked

Feb 28, 2026, 16:32

You can make the Books thread Pakie

Feb 28, 2026, 19:29

Agree regarding Roos he just doesn't have the physicality or the open game skills.

Not quite Bok material.

Looking at De Villiers I think he would make a great scrummie.

But that said he does remind one of Kwagga and may play very well at 6 in a Bok pack.

Feb 28, 2026, 20:15

Slowly, week by week...more people are understanding that Roos isn't the hulk that he thinks he is.

How long have we been saying this for, Moz? Must be two seasons now.

He needs to play on the side of the scrum...or....at.....12 ;)

mwhahaha

Feb 28, 2026, 20:15

hh

Feb 28, 2026, 21:14

Congrats to the Lions, well played. The Lions are playing positive rugby at the moment.

Morné vd Berg, Franke Horn, Batho Hlekeni, Quan Horn, Henco van Wyk, and Bronson Mills played a good game.

The Stormers were not really at their best today, they have taken a major dip in form as of late. JD, Adre Smith, Marcelle Theunissen and Paul de Villiers were solid, though quiet.

Johnathon Roche and Jurie Matthee again made an impact. Mchunu stood strong in the scrums and was good in loose play.

Evan Roos is not on form, and I don’t really understand why he was picked for the Boks. I Hope Sacha and the Stormers can reclaim there good form.
