We really do have a great Bok side with depth in every position

At fullback Willie is the incumbent who needs to up his game as he is being chased down by Fassi, Willemse and Gelant

We have two of the best wings in the game in Kolbe and Mapimpi. In Nkosi we have a great backup

We have the best centre combination in the game in de Allende and Am. We have failed to cement a backup to DA at 12, relying on old man Frans as a short term solution when it should have been one of Esterhuizen, Serfontein or Janse v Rensburg. Esterhuizen replicates DA and often makes TOW here in the UK playing outstanding rugby for Quins. Willemse could be an option as back up 12 but he will more likely take over from Frans as our utility back. Jessie Kriel is a great backup to Am at 13.

Pollard is one of the best 10’s in the game and Jantjies has matured into a more than capable backup. Goosen before his injury looked set to be added to the equation.

In Faf we have one of the best 9’s in the game with very handy backups in Reinach and Jantjies although Jantjies needs to rediscover the promise he first showed. Young Hendrikse is seen as the real deal as well but time will tell.

We not only have the best frontrow in the game, we also have the second best frontrow in the game and a few handy extras up front. Ox more than proved he is the real deal and in Kitshoff, Malherbe, Nyakane, Koch, Wilco Louw and Thomas du Toit we have an embarrassment of riches.

Same applies at hooker with two of the worlds best in Mbonambi and Marx. To think we have seen very little of Dweba who has the credentials to be as good as these two given his physical make up.

We have the best lock in the game in Etzebeth and in RG Snyman potentially a player who could even surpass Eben. Lood is one of the best locks in the game as well.

We have the best blindside in the game in PSDT and in Vermeulen we had one of the best but I suspect he is now done or pretty close. Kolisi has been great this year with Kwagga coming of age and proving a useful addition to the mix. Wiese is ok but we can do better in the form of the du Preez twins who are in the squad. van Staaden is hard nut.

The squad is settled but could do with the additions of the likes of Tambwe on the wing, Esterhuizen at centre, Goosen at 10, Jason Jenkins at lock, Evan Roos and Tshituka amongst the loosies

I’m really disappointed we have lost openside prospect Dylan Richardson to Scotland, I would have added him to the mix.

Let’s hope that at centre 2022 is the breakthrough year for Similane at 13 (muscle up) and my call at 12 in James Mollentze who missed 2021 with a knee injury

And with this squad we have the best and most humorous coach in Rassie - we just can’t go wrong, provided Rassie is physically present

The 2nd test against the All Blacks was perhaps the Bok's best performance of the year. An all-around mix of running and kicking.  Knowing when to go wide, and when to keep the game tight.

Something that was concerning in 2021 is that more teams have learned to break the Bok defense and score tries.
This is making it more essential for the Boks to score more tries and get the outside backs into space.
The game plan looks to be to keep the game close for the first half, and then bring Marx onto the pitch and establish complete forward domination in the last 30 minutes. The Bok depth of forwards allows them to bring on a bomb squad replacing like for like fresh players with tired ones.

This usually works when the opposition is not scoring many tries, but coming back is harder when the Bok defense is leaking more tries in the 1st half.
