The Stormers openside looks Bok material - your traditional openside - good over the ball and handy all round skills

Punches above as well. I really like him

Dec 17, 2025, 22:13

He’s a proper machine.

He’ll earn many caps in the near future.

he’s like a combo of schalk and Louw in 1. And he’s really quick too.

Dec 17, 2025, 22:46

The natural successor to Siya.

Dec 17, 2025, 22:49

The fetcher we've been waiting for. :)

Dec 17, 2025, 23:08

Will he be your Henry Pollock ?! ;)

Dec 18, 2025, 00:31

Nope. wrong color.

Dec 18, 2025, 00:41

Henry who?

Dec 18, 2025, 01:08

Is that all you’ve got, Saffolk ?! ;)

Dec 18, 2025, 01:22

He is wjat I would call top class playerr at 6 and top the rating as opensider the URC

Dec 18, 2025, 09:41

Reminds one a bit of Brussouw. Tigerish player with a good rugby brain.

Will we see Siya phased out in 2026?

Dec 18, 2025, 11:26

We have seen the phasing out of Willie, Mapimpi, Am, Faf, Bongi and Koch this year, with Kitshoff retiring and Malherbe out injured

The next lot on the chopping block should be Jessie, de Allende, Reinach, Lood, Kleyn and Mostert

Esterhuizen will stay thanks to his new hybrid role

Not sure how much Eben, PSDT and Kolisi have left in them - they are too old for the next WC

Dec 18, 2025, 12:58

Dave

When it comes to players I do not think that Erasmus will play again in matches. His back problem is the cuase and it is just not allowing him playing further rugby.

As to other players mentioned those on the chopping block will be depending on performance snd not ag age only, I do believe that of the few players involved in the 2019 and 2023 RWC the players that may remain would be Du Toit, Marx and possibly De Allende and Kolbe,

However, there may be a few others - but as stated it iwll remain a smll number of players amongst the survivors. ,

Have a look at the followibn g comments iro D e Villiers:-

Paul de Villiers’ stock continues to rise with each appearance in a Stormers jersey.

Last weekend’s man-of-the-match performance in the 42-21 win over Stade Rochelais was another example.

He was his team’s top tackler (16), and he also featured amongst the group for top metres gained (47).

The 22-year-old was also a menace at the breakdowns, winning two brilliant turnovers.

In the 26-17 Round One victory over Aviron Bayonnais, he notched up 14 tackles, two turnovers and 21 metres with his carries.

He has now been rewarded for his performances in the first two rounds of the Champions Cup with a nomination for Player of the Month for December.

The other nominees include Adam Hastings (Glasgow Warriors), George Hendy (Northampton Saints), Matthieu Jalibert (Bordeaux-Begles), and Sione Tuipulotu (Glasgow Warriors). - all backlin players

Bit on the short side as a modern open slider, but I I think Kwagga is even smaller than him.

Been very impressed with him. He gets into the the right place all the time and very effective. Extremely hard working

His battle stats must be through the roof

Dec 18, 2025, 20:32

KC ... same size as Savea ?

Dec 18, 2025, 21:06

Klein yster...a few years ago wingers like Kolbe and Arendse were deemed too small for test rugby...

Dec 18, 2025, 22:37

& we seemingly all saamstem the same.

Dec 19, 2025, 00:42

What the hell has height got to do with an openside flanker?

Dec 19, 2025, 09:54

Paul is a great Talent and I sincerely hope he gets his chance.

Great at fetching. Defence is rock solid and very good in open play.

Heinrich Brussouw 1.81m Tall 103kg

Kwagga Smith 1.80m Tall 97kg

Paul de Villiers 1.81m Tall 101kg

Dec 20, 2025, 17:38

Paul is faster than Brussouw and has better all round skills from what one can tell at this level.

He could get a chance in the next Bok squad selection. Play him against the best teams and see how he goes.

He has, a big engine.

Dec 21, 2025, 16:32

MOM again yesterday.

Dec 21, 2025, 17:18

Rhonda thinks our new jackalling prospect de Villiers is a natural successor to Kolisi who I can’t remember ever making a competitive jackal…noob in mid season form.

Personally I thought Ruan Venter was the MOM yesterday. There may be a bit of a hype bubble building around de Villiers….he is doing plenty of good things but the reporting seems a bit ahead of the facts. Much as it was with Roos initially.

Anotherr player to hate for the next ten years and embarrassing yourself again.

Dec 21, 2025, 19:05

Poor Old Saaiman dumb as a plank.

Dec 21, 2025, 19:25

Ou Maaik may be the stupidest human being on the planet, but he's easily the more likeable of this board's two Grumpy Old Men.

I'd definitely have a beer and few laughs if I ever met ou Maaik . . . I wouldn't piss on Moffie if he was in flames.

The plank is the idiot who claimed one of the best players ever in the history of Springbok rugby - P-S du Toit - is a failure as a rugby player, A plank is an idiot who claimed that Erasmus is a failed coach. A plank is an iidot who base his hatred of peeople hatred of players on lies he concocted himself.

A plank is a person who based his rugby on lies an facts he do not understand because he its too thick to realize he is a real hater of rugby and especially the S A rugby teams because he is too thick to realize what a fool he made of himself on site,

Dec 22, 2025, 02:11

Drinking again Rhonda? I thought you had gotten over your self confessed substance abuse problems. But I guess failure in life is hard to digest.

Dec 22, 2025, 02:12

A plank is a stupid person Saaiman…hence applying that term to you.

Dec 22, 2025, 05:18

Ou Maaik may be the stupidest human being on the planet, but he's easily the more likeable of this board's two Grumpy Old Men

I had the pleasure of meeting Mikey a couple of times when he visited Sydney, both occasions were a delightful experience, no politics, just dinner and a few drinks....and oh I forget he introduced me to a now retired Saffa horse racing jockey(Jeff Lloyd) whose son(Zac) is rapidly becoming a wunderkind in the racing world.

Dec 22, 2025, 05:47

And yet you post this about Mike:

I don't read the wholesome kak that you post......I guess I would after I've had a lobotomy.

….

Hypocrite doesn’t begin to describe you Hysteria

Dec 22, 2025, 06:58

Oh,shut up, you bitter and spiteful bore. I said that in response to Mike's politics, which I always find repulsive—something I've repeatedly mentioned.

Tell me, did you ever apologize for accusing him of being a pedophile, Huh?

I ,udy admit you aare not a plank - i shoulfd have wrtten what you really are. You are just a lying BSter - to call you a plamk is an insult to planks anyway, You are a disgrace when it comes to anything relating ti this site when it relates to sport issues, .

Dec 22, 2025, 08:21

If old RooiNuts couldn't post about his dislike for other posters, he'd have nothing to post about.

What a loser.

Dec 22, 2025, 17:19

And did you defend him at the time Hysteria? Nope? Too busy licking my boots.

Dec 22, 2025, 17:38

I see Wooosh….. recumbent in a pool of fat, with a glass full of cheap alcohol in one hand, scrolling listlessly through Ruckers with the other. A sort of disconsolate Jabba the Hutt. And then some poster he dislikes, posts something that creates a thought. The fat trembles….a sneer imposes itself on the rolls of fat as he gets an idea …..he screams wehe and does a real ROFL rolling on the floor.

Then he posts ‘I wouldn’t piss on Moffie if he was in flames’ forgetting that the catheter deposits his foul smelling urine in a collection bag. And forgetting that the first time we heard that ‘joke’ was in standard 2. Still the catheter is one of the few devices that still work for him, his Zimmer Frame walker collapsed many a moon ago.
