Rassie Erasmus

BB

Thanks for the article - but there are still issues to be clarified.   Let me expalin - he was rugby coach of the Cheetahs in  2006 qd 2997 - when the S tormers invited him to coach the Stormers,  in 2008.    He accepted the invitation and then coached the Stormers until the 2009 series - when he orkledtogether with Coetzazee as Head coiach and Erasmus as Director of Rugby.   In 2011 he  was appointed as SA Direcxtor of Rugby - which job he held until 2016.

Why did he prefer the role ocf Director  of Rugby ahead of Head Coach.   In reality the Director of Rugby was to do with development of Rugby as a game in SA not and issue the Chief Coach cannot do,   It probably had to do with the  EPD  poject he spoke about in the article,

However, there was another problem Erasmius had.   Initially while he was Srormers Diector of Rugby Erasmus and Coetzee worked closely together and the Stomers were comnpetitive.   However that coperation with Coetzee deteriorated  in 2010-11 and the Stormers performances collased to a farcical level.   Erasmus ideas always ceter around a 15 man rugby team with extensive usage of all 15 players as both attacking and defenseive units.   He waas called up as assistant to the 2007 WC squad - but it was clear that his ideas wsere not acxcepted by White - so he left the squadx after i month.

He thought that he would find a simnilar co-operation with Meyer when the latter was appointed as Head Coach of the Springboks ibn 2012 - but soon find out co-operation with Meyer was imnpossible.   He withdrew and work on issues that he thought would be suited to development of Rugby as a whole in SA.     When  Coetzee was appoinmted as Head Coach  he offered him his co-opration to help the Springbok team.   Coetzee refused he invitation andx stated with dxestructgion of SA Rugby lasting until January 2018 when StARU sent a delegvation to meet with Erasmus.

A deal was reached where Erasmus would be appointed as SA Director of Rugby and where there would be no selection committee - the squad and team selection was to be done by the Director of Rugby and the coaching staff..    He insisted  that the final say of ncoaching appointments will be his responsibility and that SARU will only appoint coaching staff recommended by him.   Since the WC was imminent Ersmus said that the appointment of the Head Coach will have to wait until after the 2019 WC,

Although Erasmus had Nenaber appointed as Head Coach after the 2019 WC - Erasmus is onvisously not satisfied with the coaches who at present form the coaching set-up of the SA Franchises and has temporaily taken over the coacxhing duties - while remaining as Doectir of Rugby when Nienaber left the set-up.

Erasmus was always hated by some site members - in particular Mozart and l'Grande Merde.   The question is why?   The main reason goes back to White and Meyer as well as Coetzee whose ideas of the game was vastly different cfrom his own and in the end disastrous for SA Rugby.   In 2018 Mozart claims that Erasmus was useless and move away from coaching teams for reasons other than pofessionalism.   He gave a totally false sumamry of what happened  and that Coetzee should stay on as coach.   The doos as Dave called him said Meyer was an ideal coach and the fact that SARU would not renew the coaching contract with Meyer was wrong.

Both aree notorious BS spreaders on all issues - but both lied about issues without ever thinking their lies was wrong.   The Chickening out story in 2020  was typical Mozart - another lie Mozart had no poof of. anything.

I think Erasmus was the main reason why Springbok Rugby progressed since 2018 and his leadership in the field of development of rugby ibn SA can never be disputed.

.....thrice. How many more experts and fans have to say this, how many more huge losses have to be endured....before SA Rugby do what any other sports franchise or business would do......FIRE THE INCOMPETENT!

Nov 18, 2023, 22:47

So clever you say about me:

He gave a ttally fase sumamry of what happened  and that Coetzee should stay on as coach. ’

Look at the post  immediately above. Your disgusting lying is becoming a regular feature on here. It’s getting worse.

Nov 19, 2023, 00:05

Mike, can we have the English version of your post please?….

Nov 19, 2023, 14:59

Mozazrt

In your hysteria about Ersmus's apointment by SARU in April 2018 you went totally absurdx when you claimed it would be better to retain Coetzee than appoint the much maligned by you Erasmus in any capacity whatsoever.    As musch as you hate some SA top players - so much was your hatred fcr Erasmus.   The BS allegations by you against Ersmus continued to this day.   .

First of all I would like to state that this invitation is surprising since you have never suggested reasonable solutions yourself.

However, I am certain that changes needs to be made and the following are to my mind necessary:-

Coaching

I do not really think that we have suitable coaches available in SA at present,   They all - bar perhaps Ackerman - has all got serious deficiencies.   Of the Super Rugby coaches Mitchell is experienced and probably the best coach of the lot - but he is beginning to show promise with the Bulls,  Du Preez is also doing better - but he is inexperienced,

The problem is that the SA coaches has since re-admission all - bar perhaps Carel du Plessis - all had a serious deficiency.   They all were 10 man rugby specialists and the backline was there for defense only,   People talk about Habana and De Villiers as examples why that is not so, but looking at those two one has to admit they did well despite the coaches and playing individual style rugby despite the coaches.

Coaches need to discourage inadequate and aimless kicking as a means to hand over possession to the opposition and that became the speciality of SA coaches,   The result has been a constant stream of poor kicking instead of strategic kicking.

I would definitely look at a foreign coach like Mitchell, Rennie or even Plumtree as coaches and back them up with specialist coaches to ensure proper functioning of the whole team.

Nov 19, 2023, 15:37

No mention of Erasmus as a coaching option….no mention of defense….a condemnation of excessive kicking…a condemnation of 10 man rugby.

The opposite of everything that happened.

Nov 19, 2023, 16:04

No mention by you of your evcer-changing story about traditional S A Rugby.   When Morne kicked the shit out of balls - no crticism of the kicking game.   When backline play was limited to defense they were playing traditional sa rugby.

Why the silence on your conitnuous attacks on Ersmus and his approach to rugby - while you promote White and even Coetzee ahead oc Erasmus.

Happened under whom dimness - it was excessivce under White, Meyer and Coetzee and the reason for my criticism.   Under Ersmus try-scoring became a priority and motre attacking rugby the norm.    That obviously was unacceptable to you.

Nov 19, 2023, 16:27

So the truth is, I never called for Coetzee to stay. I said our top priority was improving our defense. Meanwhile you wanted an overseas coach and called out backlines ‘ which were only there for defense’. … .which is exactly what our back line was in the WC.

The fact is you got everything wrong. I got the return to physicality in the pack and defense spot on. What I didn’t anticipate was we would totally give up on constructive back play…..scoring the few tries we did from mauls and turnover ball.

Harrassmiss corrected some of our faults but has left our back play in the dustbin. Fortunately Pollard was a better kicker than our opponents.

Moazqrt

Stop tallki.ng shit.   In the  previous WC finals  the S pring boks scored no trfiesz at all - in the 2019 they scorfed two trieds involving both forwards and backline playedrsx - a first in WC finals for the Springboks.   Granted that the  Springboks did not score a single try in the fcinal this year - but they scored three tries agaibnst the very strong French team.

our statement on backline play in 2015 was that Splayed tgraditional backline play by being  for dedfense only,   You dxefended it outright then - now uyou are attacking it becxause of whatr happened in the 2023 final.   Evcery statement you attack Erasmus opn thios year - you praised the Spring boks in 2007 and 2015 for.

I can remember wqhat you write vey clearly because it was so ouirageous and stupid.   But then one can onluy expect lies and distortion from you.anyway.

Have you ever praised Erasmus fcor the achiements ofc the Springboks since 2018?  Just like you al;ways disceredit the World Rugby Evaluation Committee when hey selected Erasmus as cach ofc the Year andx Du Toit as Playedr of the year.   All one got from your postings since idiotic attacks by you on Erasmus and some key players you hate.    I think in reality you should be ashamed of youself iro your conduct on site.

The Best Springbok game in years

Now that was what we were asking for. Not the dull tactics that barely won the Welsh test, but a softening up followed by some excellent running rugby. Perhaps the Welsh test was a rope a dope tactic, or perhaps Rassie realized we had to take a few chances.

The test was won with the massive defensive stand in the first half.....and by the Beast's total destruction of Coles. He did it in  the British Lions series as well. So many questioned his selection ahead of Kitshoff, but he is the best loosehead in the game.

Vermeulen was, however, the rightful man of the match. Massive brave runs, secure kickoff receptions.....unmoveable on the deck. And there were those who wanted a Deysel twin.

Losing Lomp for Mostert, was no problem either, as Mostert was huge in the goal line defence.

Big games also by Etzebeth, Malherbe, and even Kolisi.

And really all the backs were good today. Allende was solid apart from a bad miss on May in the English in  goal. Am showed great touch in the Mapimpi try. And while Kolbe's try was huge, even better was his  smother tackle on Lawes when England had a big overlap. Willie found his mojo  with one smart early break and fine general fullback play.

But defence was the core of this win.....England, who made a huge mistake playing Ford against this Bok defence, simply had no clue what to do by the second half. They needed Farrell at 10 and Tuilagi at 12. But by the time they made the switch, the Boks were dominant

Nov 19, 2023, 17:42

Schplotttt again….you really should stop the dirty lies, you get caught out every time.

Nov 19, 2023, 19:16

Rugby is still around in 2997?

Is it Robot Wars but with a ball?

That settles it, I wanna live for ever!

Anyone know a vampire?

Nov 19, 2023, 20:05

Mo/zart

I complementary thread - but a hundred abusive atiacks cancel that one out.

Nov 20, 2023, 08:48

Never ever have I seen such a consistently biased campaign against a coach as I have seen this buffoon mozzz wage on a coach virtually from day 1. His cosign has been noteworthy for it's many lies and rediculous statements.

Now it has all caught up with Mozzzz and his credibility lies in tatters.

Add to thst his lies about Covid, the draft vaxx and the Ukraine war and you have a very flawed character to put it politely.

One could go on to his support for open borders which keep down the cost of wages etc. The oak is a full on Globalist.

Nov 20, 2023, 08:51

Take a look at the support mozzz gave to the outrageous nonsense Doos posted on this board. Mozzz never corrected Doos for his absurd and often insulting comments about the Boks.

Sorry mozzz has lost his way completely on many fronts.

Nov 20, 2023, 14:00

So according to this article,  Harrassmiss claimed his father saw somebody being necklaced and that turned him into an alcoholic, which shaped the family and the coach. Anybody really believe that?

Nov 20, 2023, 16:05

Why is that not believable? I’ve read his book it’s a great read by a great man

Why would he lie about that? Given the rest of his family are still alive

Get a grip Moz your anti Rassie is nauseating - the guy has achieved so much, his team respect and love him.

You know nothing about him as a person, why you so anti the guy?

Nov 20, 2023, 16:25

Alcoholics by all accounts are shaped over a period of time. One event which happened to a stranger turning a man into an alcoholic seems more like convenient b/s.

Nov 20, 2023, 17:00

No he never said that he said his dad was always a drinker and that he wondered if that incident was the catalyst. He never said it was he said he wondered if it was.

Rassie had to often drive the car as a little kid as the dad was always drunk. They used to lock the dad in his room when he started drinking

His dad had no interest in his rugby playing

Nov 20, 2023, 17:14

Whether he wondered it or claimed it, it’s nonsense. Dave you are at liberty to believe anything you like about this man, I personally think much of that carefully curated story is not credible.

Nov 20, 2023, 17:22

I defer to Moffie's knowledge of what turns people into alcoholics. I wouldn't argue with him on this subject if I were you, Saffex.

Nov 20, 2023, 17:22

What bullshit a traumatic incident can easily be the catalyst for an addiction. But there were other contributing factors relating to his dad’s job as well.

There is absolutely no reason in the world not to believe Rassie - what on earth would he gain by bullshitting given his mother and sisters are alive and will have read his book

I really don’t get your point at all - it makes zero sense

Nov 20, 2023, 17:29

Actually as somebody who actually had a substance abuse problem, which you discussed on the Board Peeper, perhaps you could opine. Was your problem  caused by a single event?

Nov 20, 2023, 17:32

Moz he never said it was a single event? His dad always had a problem with booze he thinks it got worse after that event

It’s all in his book - stop making shit up

Nov 20, 2023, 17:39

Sure Dave he was an ‘enlightened’ man working for the Bantu Administration handing out ‘dompas’.

Nov 20, 2023, 17:52

Actually he was very troubled by his job was dead against how black people were treated

Nov 20, 2023, 17:53

Sure they all were…now.

Nov 20, 2023, 18:00

So judgemental knowing nothing about these people

Nov 20, 2023, 18:35

...ja, all Afrikaners are bigoted POS's...there's no way any of them were opposed to the injustices of Apartheid...must have been massive election tampering in the referendum of 1992... no way all our Dutchmen voted to end Apartheid...

Rassie has colored his story to suit the ANC's agenda...he built his team around it and got the ANC off his back in the process...why he picked a ethnic back captain (whatever that means)master stroke...his players bought in, the country and fans bought in...

I don't like the fact that being a Bok coach is also a political appointment,  but that's the South African reality. Rassie recognized the fact and managed it like a diplomat...only a few dwarstrekkers can't accept it...Moz and Lemur being a couple of the few sorry souls refusing to enjoy Bok glory...so fcn sad...seems to enjoy p!$$!ng into the Cape Southeaster...foolhardy to the end...

Nov 20, 2023, 21:21

They voted that way because their leaders told them to vote that way….and their leaders told them to vote that way because they finally figured out the alternative was worse…..forty years too late,

Nov 20, 2023, 22:27

Spot on Draad

Nov 20, 2023, 23:07

Maybe he is a great ‘diplomat’ or fake, choose your description. But conflating an alcoholic’s genesis with all the abuses of the Ministry of Bantu Administration, and even worse necklacing, is simply disgusting opportunism.

Nov 21, 2023, 04:08

...yet it worked...

Nov 21, 2023, 04:53

Director of Rugby & not subject to BEE mandates regarding the coach's skin colour .................. our coaches will come & go, partly depending on their ethnicity but Rassie has his exclusive jobbie for as long as he wants.

Nov 21, 2023, 07:13

Rassie's selection justification...

Mostert - he is totally useless but knows the system and so Rassie selects him.

DDA - he deserves to be there because Rassie wouldn't select him otherwise.

Infallible logic.
