15 Gianni Lombard, 14 Suleiman Hartzenberg, 13 Henco van Wyk, 12 Cornal Hendricks, 11 Leolin Zas, 10 Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, 9 Grant Williams, 8 Jean-Luc du Preez, 7 Elrigh Louw, 6 Marco van Staden, 5 Ruan Nortje, 4 Jason Jenkins, 3 Thomas du Toit (c), 2 Andre-Hugo Venter, 1 Ntuthuko Mchunu.
Subs: 16 JJ Kotze, 17 Simphiwe Matanzima, 18 Mornay Smith, 19 Dan du Preez, 20 Sikhumbuzo Notshe, 21 Phepsi Buthelezi, 22 Sanele Nohamba, 23 Johan Goosen

Not much has changed, thought that they would bring Louw in for Stephanie but he is now selected. So would be interesting to see who the boks select tomorrow.

Maybe Cheslin will play at 7

Back to the Bok A team, again, a lot of potential here, but given who is at the help coaching this team. I have no hope for them. Most of these players will be in my bok team at some point in the future or even I would opt for now. Like, why is Jason Jenkins not on the bench for the boks rather than useless Marvin Marvellous Orie.

Lets hope the boys can finally get a win for SA on the this dog shit of tour

I thought Hendricks was piss poor at 12 for the A side

They should have started Sacha at 12

Nov 14, 2022, 15:04

Sacha is actually a 10, so I would rather let him play there, but I see that they have dropped Goose down to the bench. At least no bloody Jantjies. I hope that is the last of him

That team actually looks better than the team from last week. It has newer players who might be able to make the step up to test level.

Grant Williams looks to have potential, and it will be interesting to see how he combines with Zulu.

Main concerns are a prop, which has a transformational flavour because many of those players are not first-choice URC players.

Is Lombard more of a flyhalf? He is fast and has skill so he can probably slot into fullback.

Lombard has impressed me when he came back to the Lions, he can play 15, but he is actually a 10 and played there for the baby boks if memory serves me correctly. Has an insane boot on him. He is keeping Jordan Hendriks on his toes, so good all round competition for the Lions.

Goose haven't looked that sharp, so a bench spot is probably the best place for him to gain his confidence. On the other hand Sacha was amazing for the baby boks and kicked all his goals for the stormers.

Goosen has lost his pace and he never had much else…..he’s history.

Nov 14, 2022, 15:57

Wrong Moz the Goose had it all but is a bit of a loose cannon

But since his latest injury he looks way off. My guess is the injury was pretty serious and he is very measured and cautious in his approach now

He has been rushed back into the Bok set up given our dire flyhalf predicament

He is clearly not ready - we could see that in his few outings for the Bulls

Recovering from an ACL is not easy, but the biggest problem is to not think about it anymore. Getting over the mental aspect and just to play freely. You become so sensitive to the slightest twinge or slight pain that it stops you dead. But, it is also so easy to tear an ACL, which comes from minor injuries until it goes.

RG is still having problems with is knees, it takes over a year to come right.

So I just hope Goosen can get over it, have a solid URC season and maybe we have a good option at 10.

That guy was probably our best 10 when the lions arrived. He was taking the ball flat, running great lines and getting the attack away. He beat most of the current boks in the bulls vs A team.

Goosen was an effeminate glass figure who played 20 miles ahead of the gainline.

Never ever thought I would have to scrape the barrel for a Springbok #10 but here it is.

If Pollock is the first choice for the RWC and the "New" #10 from the Stormers does not work out we will have no option but to recall "Humping" Jantjies and his assistant.

At least he can convert a kick if it is not directly in front of the uprights.

Willemse is not a #10, Goosen is done and no other SA #10 has shown any class besides that Junior Bok #10.

This young man has the class to fill the position but lacks the international experience at this time in my opinion.

But I would not be surprised to see Frans Steyn in the squad as things now stand.

Sure he has aged but he has the experience, the boot and can fill any backline position and "YES" he has slowed down a bit but he is still head and shoulders above what has filled most of those positions lately.

Finally he is a "MUCH" better player than any of us "TV Springboks" who constantly degrade him on this forum.

Finally does anyone know who Orie's sister is married to in the "Springbok selection ship of fools"?

The Goose is cooked, time to move on.
Too injury-prone at the highest level of the game.
It is hard for him to build his confidence before taking another injury.

He is just not robust enough for the tackle area of the game, which is a pity as his other attributes are good.

Bring it on! I finally get to see SashaZuluman & a few other newbies ....... hopefully the weather's halfway decent, & I can't see, don't want to see, a repeat of last week's bollocks. Rampant Bokke ?

Unfortunately rain predicted for this entire week. So will be a damp squid again

I think the way in which our A-games have been arranged has come as an after thought. It should not be called an A team as this implies that it is the next in line. Even though we have some talented youngsters and experience players that have gotten a few caps, it is not a real A team.

The main being have an experimental Quota coach with no prior experience other than age group u21 coaching with only one season behinds his name. Only Deon Davids has some credibility as well as Bfana, the U21 baby bok coach, but he has only coached 6 matches. The baby boks were unbeaten but still needed a few more years to actually win the world championship and then spend time working other at a union or within the bok setup such as a technical advisor.

Just look at Ireland and NZ, they took their emerging young players and arranged a separate tour. They played against unions, but they also won. They played 4 games on the trot and that gave them a chance to see whether these players can make the step up.

The A Game should be those player that are not in the starting 15 or 23 but who would be the next in line.

There should have also been more A-Games against the touring team like the Welsh, we could have had 3 A games on a Tuesday night and give existing boks like Jantjies, Dwebe etc a chance to shake of some rust.

We have only played 2 A games all year where as other unions have played 4 and it was well organised.

It is more of an after thought. Hell, I would even have made it in 2021 but Rassie used to give his boys some much needed match practice, not that I was against it as it served us well but we should have seen at least 4 more games last year. We could have played 12 A games by now.

My main point is that we should go back to the emerging bok team which can be used to bring fringed players through and the A game for the wider bok squad.

I would have loved to see All the youngster from the U21 team along with some established players play together.

Not the like of Cornal Henkrickse who will probably never play a test, but then again, stranger things has happened as we have a 36 year old Rookie playing for the boks. Madness

I see the game is on Bear TV for about £5

Nov 18, 2022, 17:10

Watched it for free on my set up but would never have paid 5 pounds to watch this game.
