Just looked at the the line up and it is almost like a Springbok trial game. Not sure we will get the same but we have two massive contenders in the Midfield between AE and Willemse.

Then there is Hendrikse Bro's vs current incumbent Reinach and Sacha.

Hope it is a great game. We will get to enjoy it the following week.

Good contests at 2,6,12 and all 4 props.

I want Paul de Villiers to FSU this season. He's my new fave for the 6 jersey for when Captain calls it quits.

"I want Paul de Villiers to FSU this season."

FSU? Does that mean you want him to Fuck Someone Up?

Jan 23, 2026, 15:02

Pepsi has been some glimmer of his potential in the last game. Not sure if it is too late for him now. Ben Jason is getting bak to form.

I think we almost have our next lock combo. JD Schickeling and Jenkins. Both should have had more caps by now for the boks had it not been for Orie and Moerat taking up space

Jan 23, 2026, 15:33

Yes Corn I had the same thought, this is effectively an old school trial game in several positions.

Jan 23, 2026, 16:07

Problem with a guy like Phepsi is consistency. House on fire one game, a no show the next. Contrast that with someone like De Villiers just delivering and delivering.

The Sharks will have Gelant in their corner, so they have a good chance.

Jan 23, 2026, 16:12

I forgot does Gelant glide or does he step?

Jan 23, 2026, 17:23

I love Gelant but it’s been a while since he had a good game

Pointless going with Jenkins and JD as our next lock combo given both are 30. Jenkins should always have been in the Bok squad - a far better lock than Mostert, Kleyn, Nortje, Moerat or Orie

Id take JD over them as well

Our next locks need to come from two or three of Ruben v Heerden, Ruan Vermaak, Cobus Wiese, Andre Smith, JF v Heerden and Corne Rahl

I have a R100 bet on the Stormers beating the Sharks - so I put the money where my mouth is.

The Sharks record this year was supershit - I think the main reason being that their backline - with probably three exceptions are as thick as bricks with very little ball sense and skills, The main problem is at 10 and 12,

I am disapointin g in Roos snot palying - probably given a rest. A large part of the Stormers successes his year centers around D Villiers and him - by some distance the best looies this year in SA .

Jan 23, 2026, 18:19

I have it on good authority that Roos is in training working on his move to 12

Jan 23, 2026, 18:43

Dave, if Roos is seen as another hybrid player, not the first time we've seen 8 s switch to the backline, but at this stage of his career. AE did the job well and probably always a loosie than a 12.

However, Spies was a wing and then move to 8

Koster was an 8 then moved to wing by Rassie

Youngs was a centre that good moves to hooker by Meyer and then played for England

With Rassie looking to build his Nuke squad, no backline player and all forwards.

Which backline player can play both 9 and in the pack.

Maybe Kolbe to Hooker given he has already thrown in duty for line outs

"Which backline player can play both 9 and in the pack."

Joost did it back in the day. He switched to flank in a Springbok test way back.

I don't like Rassie's 7-1 split. I can just about cope with a 6-2 split but would always go for the traditional 5-3, personally. 8-0 would be just ridiculous.

If you so sure Uncle, why not bet a R1000 instead? Willemse will have to step like Fred Astaire...Esterhuizen is coming:)

I think it will he a close game. Sharks are more motivated as of late.

Game about to start. Go Stormers!!!!!

Jan 25, 2026, 11:22

Sharks came to play and walked away with the spoils.

The biggest battle of bite was in the backline with Sasha showing how dangerous he is with ball in hand, very physical and direct play and managing to get Willemse over the white wash twice.

However, that was about it for the Stormers backline.

Gelant, Zas Hartsenberg were constantly caught of position and the best full back in the country is Fassi. He showed great awareness in the back, fielding very hard balls. Punishing the stormers poor kicks with massive kicks up the field and one leading to a 50/22 from his own 22. The other youngster from the sharks Jaco Williams also showed some serious pace.

As for the 9/10. For once the Hendriks brothers produced after several season of poor form and they outshined Sasha and Reinach.

Not much can be given to Willemse as AE dominated the midfield. Hooker had a steady game and by no means flashy but did all the hard work from 13.

As for the packs was a bit of stale mate and neither could get the ascendancy other than winning the Arial dominance and poached a number of lineouts from the stormers.

Pepsi outplayed the back 3 and showing good form.

The most useless players if the match, and trust me there were several must be Moerat.

This guy is so over hyped. His whole career has been a publicity stunt. When it comes to rugby, he offers absolutely nothing. There you have Jason Jenkins, a mountain of a man putting it in the line week in and week out, then you have this guy.

His first act is to collapse the maul after coming off the bench and getting a straight yellow. When does get back on the field, lumps within seconds for a sprained pinky toe. I kid you not, the cameras was on him with his boot off and having his toes rub by the physio.

Willemse proved once more he is not a 12 and never was. Another over hyped player that haven't lived up to his potential from when he burst onto the scene.

Sasha was very guilty of over playing and trying to much. Yes. It resulted in two tries but that was it.

This reminds if Aaron Cruden, wizard with ball in hand and could conjure up tries from nothing but couldn't kick for shit
