Yup. The Bulls are a much better team today than they were under Joke White. When Hanekom returns from injury they will be a threat to any team.
They do need some sparkle in the backline and Handre Pollard is the main reason for that. I do appreciate his kicking and his temperament but any backline outside him will be sterile.
13 out of 16 for a finalist 7 or so months ago? Let’s be serious.
Numbers don't always tell the true tale.
The Bulls are still way off from where they were under White, more resembling the Sharks at the moment. Problem is they hit a wall under White when it comes to playoffs. Their lame capitulation in last year's final was disappointing.

Impressive, Draad? It was a train wreck of a performance by both sides. Some of the most inept rugby I've seen in a while.
White signed up the contracts that ruined the Bulls and ended up the palyers that ruined the Bulls his year. In 2024-25 was not spotless either,- out of 18 maches player in he Roubnd Robn stage the Bulls slost r matches and ended up in the play-offs, They ended up in the final where theylost in a disgraceful match.
What is weird is it is not the first time it ended up in the same manner. It was the third time it happened in the last three seasons, Get into the final and disg rced in the finals,
The absence in game plans caused limited success against weak teams and the end does not win trophies, Tha riblem needs to be dealt with through a new system where SARU has decided to get a training program for coaches on provincial and franchise level in place where coaches is to be trained properly to enhance level of rugby played on those levels,
Coches like White nd Plumtree dammaged rugby in the past and those affect the Springboks in te end, White a a coach that would always in the end get nowhere, In he 2004 TriNations out of six mayches played each country won 2 out of 4 matches played and the Springboks won the tophy witha 3 point margin. That was followed by the 2007 - where the Springboks never played a sinle amtch against any team ranked higher than the Springboks and had the luck of a pocdocter in ending up the RWC Winner.
Since 2007 no team coached by White won any torphies and he was fred on three occassions based on the same reasons - inompetentr coaching and totally deficient player amnagement, So let us lived in a dream world where ultimate failure is lauded by idiots.

Impressive result against the top team in the league at home...yes it wasn't pretty with lots of errors...it was physical AF...not saying they are better off than under JW, just that they are not as bad as their recent results would sugest...JW is an excellent couch but he comes with a few issues and those issues seem to be end up terminating his stay everywhere he goes...all goes well until he loses the changeroom...player revolt...jake fired or resigns ....there's something wrong there, it's crystal clear.
No actually 2004 was followed by 2005 Saaiman…..that may surprise you. Here’s the summary of that year’s contest:
As for the Springboks, they showed themselves to be a close second to the All Blacks, silencing White's critics in the process. For the second straight year, the Tri Nations was the international coming-out party for a young Springboks star. In 2004, Schalk Burger, Jean de Villiers and Marius Joubert emerged as major stars, with Burger going on to be named the IRB World Player of the Year. This year, Bryan Habana established himself as one of the world's most dangerous wings, and was named a finalist for World Player of the Year.
……..
In fact the Boks playing in NZ were leading and within 4 minutes of winning their final game and second TN under Jake. And as usual Jake surfaced new stars, like Habana who went on to be a Bok legend.
Try for just a smidge of honesty.
Moz, are you too stubborn to acknowledge thar there are issues with JW's leadership?
No as you point out, he tends to lose the changing room. But as a rugby strategist he has always been top notch and the rugby his teams play starting with the Brumbies, has always been excellent.
If I were the Bools leadership I would have brought in a contemporary much younger coach eg Vermeulen and had Jake continue as the brains behind the operation. You can use whatever titles you like.
When coaches get beyond 50 they become grandfathers rather than fathers and something is lost.
Jake has a great strategic rugby mind, but his personality makes him hard to make his coaching sustainable over time...maybe his ego prevents him of taking a constructive role outside of being head coach...IDK, but there are obviosly issues.
Mozart
No honesty for a change - The facr is that Whte all of Habana. De Villiers and Burger as top talemted players already established as such from the then Western Provinmce. By 2005 things were going quote well for the Spring boks - but by 2006 the bottom fell out of the team and the onmly thing that saved Whte from being fired id it was not fr the WC in 2007.
There is no players who did not citicize White as a coach, It was a rather complex situation 0 when the S pring boks r any teeam he coached win in matches he takes all the credit for the in and wen the team lost he blames players for the loss,
Ib the case of the Sherks he tried another angle. He dddpread in the emdia that there wwere langua ge dofferences in the team -many of the team top players were from the Gree Stateand estern Province. He accised Kegan Daniel the Captain for the language problems and the [layers themselves knew what whappened and in the end it let to 16 players refusing to sugn renewal contracts withethe Sharks and when the Sharks Management found out the reasons for the player revolt they give White to options - either he resign or he will get fired, In the case of Montpellier the sane hapened and after the 2 year contract expired renewal was refused by tthe Club wner for exactly thre same reason s was the case iro the Sharks
In the case of the Bulls the situation got progressively worse.- the first eyar the eam did very well - bit in the URC the team lost to teh Stormers in the final, The players and hs assistant staff were vlaned for that loss, In 2024 th story was repated and a bad loss against Glasgow forecsted a maor problem for 2025, Aside from causing division in the team 0 hsi co-operation with theasistant coaches fell apart - it was so bad that none of the sassistants were prepared to sit with him in the coaching box when the Bulls played. In the end there was another paler revolt when after the final he attacjed the players in public for the loss.
The fact from the above is that White suffered from a superiority complex that ultimatelyd destriyed the eams he coached beame a real negative A nother issue that became evident in the eams he coached was ccording to John Smit there were no game plan other than 10-man Rugby. in Whe's coaching agenda,
The RWC in 2007 was he last trophy any team coached by Whote ever eon. Even that win was a miracle and Whuite had the luck of a poxdocter ,in tha tournament - during the whole tournament the Sprringboks never had to play a team ranked higher the start of the tournament Compared to the RWC's after 2019 and 2023.
,
This is the bit you missed:
By this time he was well known for his technical prowess in rugby circles, and he lived up to his reputation by coaching the under-21 Springbok side to a victory in the U-21 Rugby Union World Cup in 2002.
Who were the players in that squad:
And in 2003 he added:
Notable players in the squad who went on to have significant Springbok careers include Bismarck du Plessis, Schalk Burger, and Derick Hougaard.
Jake built his WC winning team via the U21 Bok team, he didn’t inherit it like Erasmus.
Diness
Whote was a coach that totaally believe in 10 man rigby and what he did was all linked to forwards and nothin g about anything other than 10-man rugby, Since he was totally incompetnet when it came to backline play in the end he failed as a coach.
However t White's his defucuency as a coach has been marked as being due to his superiority complex causing him being a failure in human relationship and the despise of the players he coached as well as his assistant coaches,
So now having demonstrated he did a great job literally building our 2007 WC team from U21 level, you simply change channels…become insulting and repeat your disproven claim he never fostered backline play.
Top try scorer in any WC….Bryan Habana and Jonah Lomu with 8
Top try scorer in the 2019 WC….Josh Adam’s with 7
’
Top try scorer in the 2023 WC… Will Jordan
New Zealand's Will Jordan was the top try scorer at the 2023 Rugby World Cup with 8 tries, tying him with legends like Jonah Lomu and Bryan Habana for the most in a single tournament, featuring a hat-trick in the semi-final and braces against Italy and Uruguay. Following him were France's Damian Penaud (6 tries) and a group including Ireland's Bundee Aki and England's Henry Arundellwith 5 tries each. .
No Lucky Bok anywhere to be seen.
There now you know.
In 2023 ….against 5 legitimate opponents Scotland, Ireland, France , England and NZ we scored 5 backline tries.
in 2019 ….against 4 legitimate opponents NZ, Japan, Wales and England we scored 7 tries….3 of the 7 coming against Japan, not really a legitimate opponent but let’s allow it,
In 2007…against 4 legitimate opponents England twice, Scotland and Argentina we scored 8 backline tries.
So enough of the White never encouraged backline play rubbish.
B S galore. They scired 5 backline tries inmvolving D u Toit alone. That ios factual - what do you call backline tries diumnesss, In the whole of 2025 the Spring boks scored 187 tries stupid>
, ,
Yep the Bulls could easily have won that - had Papier scored that try. Losing Moodie at 13 before halftime left their backline a little unbalanced for the second half.
They looked to have turned the corner - it takes time for a new coach to hit his straps
Fuck Joke White, he was poison - Ackerman will prevail, is a far better coach than Jake ever was

I’m calling backline tries, tries that are scored by the backline. But you are so painfully stupid, let me expand for 2023:
Scotland….1 try Dud Toit, 1 try Arendse
Ireland….1 try Kolbe
France…1 try Etzebeth, 1try Kolbe, 1 try Arendse, 1 try Dud Allende
England….1 try Snyman
NZ….no tries.
Use your toes and count 8 tries in 5 games, hardly a great haul and only 5 tries scored by backs. Happy now?

…..you know, the clueless coach that got them to 2 finals
