Turn the Stormers game and just watch 5 min of Manie trying his best to lose the game

Dec 07, 2024, 17:49

So Manie has 35 min kick centre field. The waits until the final second to kick and skies it. Toulon juggle the ball a bit and manage to clear the kick in the 22, ball bounces. Manie is on the ball, try side step and gets caught by 3 players.

The balls goes lose and the ball gets hack. Stormers mops up on 5 m, line. Manie has the ball in hand, the tries side step again, throws a around the back pass and the balls spills forward. Luckily not Toulon player can get to the ball.

Manie gives away a 5 m scrum. Toulon scores.

Please let this guy never touch a bok jersey again

Ending in a penalty barrage, both sides committing stupid fouls. Libbok was awful but that hit on him was a real instance of dangerous play,

Dec 07, 2024, 18:20

These guys like Libbok, Jantjies, Gelant look good sometimes at this level….but they aren’t test  quality. Why Rasmus has persevered so long with Libbok is a mystery.

Dec 07, 2024, 19:39

No matter how much more of a 15 or 12 Willemse is...there is no chance in hell that Manie should be picked ahead of him at 10 for the Boks.

I actually can't believe how badly Manie is playing.

There's poor form, but this is a whole new level.

Dec 07, 2024, 23:40

That hit to Manie head was accidental, he actually stepped into the player as the guy is trying to push the other player our.

On fleet footed players, it is coloured rugby. These guys are fantastic steppers and have great skill, but they have no sense for team play. My friend use to play against these guys and he said they were really hard to play against. They would run circles around players but then never end up winning the games.

You just have to grind them out and that is what Toulon did. Stormers were leading and got two tries but Toulon just man handled then and made sure they tackled them.

That is what happens, they are not the biggest players and we saw how many times Manie got turned.

Hopefully that will be the end of it. Stormers need to go back to the big boys or Cape rugby and stop letting these ballet dancers plonk around.

Paul de Wet was way worse than Manie...fucked up Manie's match even more than Manie could .anage himself...sold him out with poor passes...Manie had no time on the ball and received defender and  at tbe same time. ...hope that was Paul's last match in a Stormers jumper.

Even Sasha would have struggled with such poor service and an almost offside rush defence...not to mention the confrontational BS constantly coming from the French side....how this wonderful team has fallen...wonder if it's Dan Biggar's poor influence...

Dec 08, 2024, 08:02

I think Manie is sub par on defence and goal kicking. This will probably end his test career.

Dec 08, 2024, 08:06

Here's the solution, Draad.

When the 9 is struggling, the 10 adapts by standing deeper. It's takes pressure off of the 9 because he has more time to execute.

...and in the face of defence that is bordering being offside, standing deeper make their transgression all the more obvious, and creates even more space in behind them.

And I'm not the Bok 10. Neither is any other schoolboy 10 that would provide you the exact same remedy without having to think about it.

Dec 08, 2024, 08:07

Dan Dups can easily fill Manie's spot with Sacha.

Dec 08, 2024, 09:10

Plum, I get that, but go watch a couple of plays again and focus on PdW...Manie was p!ss poor and shouldn't be the Stormers starting 10, never mind for the Bokke...bu PdW was our biggest problem yesterday. Everyone is complaining about Manie, but he wasn't the main source of my frustration...

Dec 08, 2024, 09:59

I know he was bad too, Draad. But he's nowhere near the Bok side and has no hype. So I don't care too much about him.

If you look at Sach, Pollard, Hendrikse...they are guys that their teams can rely on to deliver more often than not. Even Wolhunter is leading his team well.

Then I see Manie, a Bok, and he's actively hamstringing his team.

A competent 10 can carry his 9 if he sees him struggling. Which is the point I was making above. So Manie, with his experience, and outside of his own performance, is also partly to blame for what your 9 was doing yesterday.

He just doesn't have the brain required.

Dec 08, 2024, 10:01

And I don't think the Stormers are that bad.

I acrually think they're still the best side in SA.

Look at last week's game before and after Sacha went off. Before he went off they we looking sharp, decisive and in control. The moment he went off and Manie came on, the entire complexion of the game changed.

It's not a team thing. It's a bad apple thing.

Dec 08, 2024, 11:20

Manie  and never was a test match fly-half.

Sure the Stormers have had  him shine in a few games for them but that is not Test rugby.

His boot and general play never has been worthy of a Springbok #10.

He is a Currie Cup average player and no more.

Dec 08, 2024, 11:48

Actually, that hospital pass to Manie was Jantjies. Manie got poll axed completely, but look who was tackling him Vauleve. The French 14, or KO Kolbe clone. He lined Manie up and came from the blindside. That was such a big hit. The player is the same weight as Manie. It was just great defensive play and another way to defuse a running hot stepping 10.

A good 10 would have used the kicking game and aimed for the corners to wear them down.

It is really poor play of Dobbo. The guys look great when they have space, so they are fine for the back 3 when they attack. That try from Gelant was top drawer but do you need 7 players like that on the field that can't take contact or tackle

Dec 08, 2024, 12:27

I did not watch much of he game - but the Stormers  half back pair as not bad - they were horriblr.  in disgracing the team.    I think that Manie should play CC rugby nd des not belong in the URC and Championnship level rugby.   It is way above their xcapabilities.   .

Dec 08, 2024, 12:54

I don't know how Manie ever won us the URC and got us in a final, now he looks again like the neverbeen who played for da Bools and Snarks...total liability...shame.

Dec 08, 2024, 13:25

Willemse injury is not healed yet and  Sacha will be back this coming weekend.     Hope Roots and Malherbe is back soon though.

Dec 08, 2024, 13:32

This season is a write off for the Stormers. They need to get some props. Enough of these hot steppers, they can't play up north.

Dec 08, 2024, 14:45

The reason Manie gets pole axed is he isn’t moving. A few years ago he was a running flyhalf….he has morphed into a statue with an open side cross kick. When the ball starts emerging, you start moving….the scrum half passes to where you are going to be….not where you are, which was the case time and again yesterday.

School boy flyhalf play 1.01.

Dec 08, 2024, 16:02

Finally all the Stormer supporters are now admitting that Manie ain't the #10 that he was made out to be.

How he was ever selected for the Boks was a surprise to many outside the Cape.

Just another cross against Rassie and his assistants.

Libbok wa shit before his injury and him being sent to hospital  and he is no answer to play on the issue of Investec andx URC level.  The major injury losses are true - their props are not p to standard wihout Kitshof and Malherbe - their losssies are bad without Roots and wtihout Shaca their backline is shit in Capital letters..

The Bulls hav the playerss - but their coaching is supershit.

Dec 09, 2024, 07:42

I hope that he's ok ,  ffs that was being hit by the proverbial brickshithouse..............

Dec 09, 2024, 08:10

Dec 09, 2024, 08:14
