South Africa                                  Points 19          Point difference  53

Argentina                                      Points 14          Point Differnce   16

New Zealand                                 Points  11

Australia                                       Points   5

For Argentin to win the rc - they neded to get an extra point to reach 19 pints and then eliminarte the prsenmt 37 point difference/     That means Agntina has to score 4 tries without scoring any and win the match  winning margin of more than 37 points.

Am I corerect in the above regard?

I’m sure Meyer will arrange that.

I saw on another blog that in the event of a tie it goes to the “who beat who” method but haven’t seen hard evidence of that.

Moolaa

Well it cn only be if the Argenians win with  bonus point win  and that is unlikely,  to say the least.   Without a bonus point win they cant get to 19 points anyway.   In 2004 the three counires each won 2 matches in the Tri-Nations and the Springboks won the tophy becaus hy had in pits diffrence by 3 points with the Assies having 2 pd and Nrew Zealand 1 point differnce,

However the following as to rugby read as follows:-

Points difference (total points scored minus the total points conceded), with the higher points difference ranked first. If this tiebreaker fails, teams are then separated by the total number of tries scored. .    .

Glad to know SA has the RC in the bag...well, if this post is anything to go by.

"That means Agntina has to score 4 tries without scoring any and win the match  winning margin of more than 37 points.   "

I know the points system can be strange, but have to say, I cant see "Agntina" scoring 4 disallowed tries.

I'm confident that we got this one boys.

I don't think points differences in games scores matters. Argentina need to get a bonus point win and prevent South African getting any log points whatsoever to win the RC.

Apparently so, Stav. From Planet Rugby:

Contepomi’s team requires five competition points (a win plus a try bonus) in order to win the Rugby Championship for the first time since their introduction in 2012, but they also need to deny South Africa any points as well. In other words, Argentina must beat the Springboks by more than seven points and score three tries more than South Africa in order to clinch the title. If Los Pumas are successful in doing just that, they will match South Africa’s 19 competition points and be crowned champions regardless of their points difference.
