When the players criicized by rugby noobs on site teams lose matches or under=pefor in matches and the qestion arises why does it happen, The answer is simple teams that should have done better is performance-ie by sub-standard players on site regarded as rugby top cass players, yet what they produce is nrmal BS.

Lets give some examples of players site members praised and others they hate and should be replaced. When he playes they hate performs well enough and make a difference to team performances they smply ignores what really happen during matches and the resuts in sch matchess,

A mere . weeks ago the Stormers were 14th on the URC log and tey managed o lose matches in strings - matches they should have beaten easily, Today - after they destroyed Benetton by what can be regarded as a record loss for Benetton we saw some real casses where BS reigns supreme on site when it comes to player performances, So what ws he difference in what caused the Stormes to perform above standard and it relates to 3 players on site either ignored or undermined hen it conmes to tem selection and I would mentiona fe playes in particular:

Sacha Feinberg-Ngomezulu

Sacha had to play second fiddle and Dobson thought it wise not to play him at flyhalf and ated to play him at enter where he was injured as a result of trying to play a cpmfontrational game - ie as no 12 center, Sacha is a diferent kind of player - he is not an inside center - he is pobably the best thinking flyhalf in world rugby at present, They way he reads matches and implement effective attacks is unique and not to be ignored, If dobson was not an idiot - S acha would not hve been injured twice this year, In the one case he was injured he was knocked out and suffered from concussion because he was trying to play the same style of rugby inside centers are to play - namely being confontational and not deadheads.

So Libbok got injured and Sacha came back from injury and suddenly the team is different and they aee now ranked 6 on the log with 2 easy matches remaining, Looking at log wih two more five-pointers entirely possile the Stormers could end up third on the log or even second on the log, Iagine what would ahve ahppened if Dobson from he word go forget about Libbok and played Sacha in his natural position at flyhalf fom the start of he season and he was not wased at 12 where eh was exposed to injury because of the confrontational style of rugby is needed,

After Sacha last week vitually won the match against Connacht virtually on his own contributing 24 points to the toal scire of 34 points scored by the team and was involved in creating another of the two tries scored the ste members changed her tune and now Sacha is their hero, But wait until he does have a ood and no spectaculr contribution like happened against Connacht and Benetton - the site members will be back to their normal attacks on him.

Fran kly I do not rate Libbok as the top class player Dave amde him out to be and my summary is what I wrote yesterday - he is a rugby playing genius since his reading of the game and strategy deicisions often leading to scorig of tries made a diference to te perfrmances of any team he plas for, He nows how to make precision kicks that lands opposition defenders in deep shit - not the kind of kicks often found in SA rugby,

Roos

Here we have a player fhe people on site rated as not good enough because according to some he is weak and not capable to deal what other 8's produces. I have consustently written he is a top class 8 - but the opinion expressed on site that he is not a physical player and is not a Springbok no 8 - Wiese should play at 8.

The difference is that Roos is a thinking player and better at reading of games together with being physical as well, The nom for 8's has been established by Vermeulen and I think that he was the best ever 8 S A ever had since he introduction of profesional rugby in SA and of that there cannt be any doubts, However, Vermeulen was a total physical player without much pace - while Roos is confrontational - but also a faster player nearer to the ball wherever it goes. For Vermeulen out - I believe that Roos is the best replacement available to SA ,

Willemse

A fter this return from injury Willemse is clearly still nt 100% of what he should be at 12, He as unlucky to have been yellow-carded yesteday when there was zeo evidene o head contact of neck contact and the player involved won the osca for best perfiormance in creating BS. Otherwie the change was clear - the Sormers backline funcioned better than it did before his retun to play. He is clearly going to be back to his best with more playing time.

Coaching

In the meantime Esterhuizn mania is infecting the site badly. Looking objectivly at his impact in he last two matches his contribution was static and in attacking rugby a zero performance, I could not believe ehat I saw on site oe rhe past wwo weeks, In the meantime in thr few matches the Sharks scored 4 tries - without Esterhuizen playing any role whatsoever in scoring those tries. But St Esterhuizen is regarded on site as top class. So lets look at the last two matches of the Stormers - they scored 12 tries in total - so somewhere the somehing is wrong about the isue of coaching of he Sharks, The same happened in the case of the Bulls - who managed to win two matches that could otherwise could easily have been won by their opposition.

After losing 5 matches in a row the Lions faced the team before the match 5th on the log, they cjose a newbie at 12 and brought in Van Wyk at 13 - a player I rate highly as a center and routh in Mills - a newbie at 12 and voila - suddenly the Lions backline functioned better than it ever did for months, Mill at 12 plaed well enough - and definitely better than any other SA 12 yesterday and I think he could be a better 13 than a 12, But at elast he is showing signs of being a thinking player as well, Managed well by the coaches.he has development potential which few of the other centes showed this weekend. I have always said that some players like Kriel and Hooker should play at 13 and not at 12. At least Kriel yesterday at 13 saved the Bulls from defeat yesterday by scoring one of their rare tries in he last two matches, . .

There is another problem why Erasmus is despised as a coach and constantly under attack by site members, Tat involves the change that Erasmus and Brown successfully intoduced in attacking play. It ivolves in getting loosis to become part and parcel of backline attacking play. However, the site members still believe in the old idea of loosies bing n exension of he Tight 5 and not a part of overall attacking rugby. That is why people attack Erasmus on site, whereas Mozart believe that Easmus does not deserve to be the SA coach and Plum comes up wit the ideathat Ackerman and Swys are beter coaches based on their moderate successful career in 2014 and 2015 as coaches of he Lions.- that they should coach the Springboks is unbelievable garbage.

The Stormers are playing well ATM...we are weak in the front row and unfortunately don't have dept when our best players get injured.

Apr 27, 2025, 09:33

Correction: we didn't say that Roos wasn't strong.

Not speaking for others here, but what I said was that he was not strong enough to play the smasher-basher role that he wants to play. I said that he needs to play a slightly smarter role, looking for gaps and weak shoulders...much like Hanekom.

Apr 27, 2025, 10:09

I want to ser Roos and Hanekom in the same back row...with PSDT, but then Marx must be fit and starting hooker.

Apr 27, 2025, 11:02

You want t say that Roos iis a worse loosie han Hanekom - - I rate both of them hihly because hey both have the same style of play, I would love t see Roos at 8 and Hanekom at 6 in teh Springbok eam and together with Du Toit it would be the best loosie ombinaion in the world at pesent.

Just like Sacha is the best natural flyhalf in the world at present.

Apr 27, 2025, 16:25

Hanekom is better than Roos in my book.

He has no illusions about how he should play, and instead plays the perfect game for his size and pace. He simply gets more value out of his body than Roos does.

I like Roos' attitude, and I don't think he's very far behind Hanekom, but I do think he needs to wise up a little. Roos always keeps up with play, which is never a bad thing, and he always brings his Hulk brain, which isn't a bad thing either, but it can cause him to spread himself too thin.

Hanekom seems to have a much better knack for spending less energy to get more results.

Apr 27, 2025, 16:29

I ;ile both Roos and Hanekom and would like tos ee both as loosie playing fr the Springboks/.

Apr 27, 2025, 16:52

Yes, but if you could have one...which would it be?

Apr 27, 2025, 16:57

For the moment it depends on je vacancy = if it is at 6 - definitely Hanekom - if at 8 Roos,

Apr 27, 2025, 17:40

Agreed Roos isn’t strong enough to play the power number 8 role. But he is a productive open field runner. Hanekom is a smart player who regularly produces crucial turnovers and puts others into space. Neither is a Wiese replacement. But in truth given his size Dud Toit should be our power runner…,except he isn’t.

So if you keep Dud Toit just for tackling Roos might be the better choice. If you have a ball carrying blindsider with bite, Hanekom will provide more in terms of general play, smarts and ball on the deck.

Not good news for Hanekom.

Apr 27, 2025, 22:01

Talking balls about Du Toit is weird but normally expected from Mozart.

Apr 28, 2025, 17:55

I’m guessing Dud Toit has run the ball more than a 1000 times for the Boks. Name one great run…and since you can’t do that…..name one run that made a difference.

Apr 28, 2025, 19:33

What a load of shit that Roos does not have the power game at 8

He literally busts most first tackle attempts on him , no differently to Wiese

Yes Wiese is going to be slightly more impactful in contact as he is a square and his 118kg’s vs the 110kg of Roos will attest to this but it’s very marginal in terms of effect on the field

Roos and Hanekom offer far better rugby intelligence, speed and skill

Apr 28, 2025, 20:04

Stripped by the Portuguese wing….not a power player. Trying to be a power 8 vs a linking, open field player is why he hasn’t made his mark for the Boks.

Apr 28, 2025, 20:08

One would swear lying about the Portuguese wing overpowering him somehow gives your utter shit some credibility

The fact that you know you are lying says it all

Fuck me there is video evidence of that passage of play and you are still stupid enough to lie about it

So what does Roos putting Vermeulen on his arse tell you?

He has made enough of a mark as a Bok considering he has never had a succession of starts and on two Bok outings played with an injury. Also Vermeulen has only just retired so he was hardly going to have a string of test caps behind him

Apr 28, 2025, 20:11

Dave, Venter was knocking Roos back so much that he took him out of the game. Roos believes he's a smasher but he's only half of one. See Marco in the first half this past Friday to see what smashing is.

Unless Roos adapts he won't get picked ahead of Hannekom.

And I actually don't think he'll ever be as good an 8 as Hannekom.

I think Moz is spot on, give Roos more of a licence to tackle and give him less carrying responsibility. He'll give you exactly what PSDT does, probably a bit more, but will also carry a bit when the opportunity presents.

Apr 28, 2025, 20:13

I looked at the Portuguese wing episode in slow motion…he was stripped. You can’t admit it because it destroys your narrative.

Roos is a talent but there are many stronger number 8s out there…he is strong enough, but his role is to be a linking player supporting our ability to take the ball wide. If we want a Wiese select a Wiese.

Apr 28, 2025, 20:15

PS Dave there is evidence on the Stompies V Lions thread of Roos being owned by Venter.

...and unless you're going to accuse me of lying, the commentators spoke about it and it was discussed at half time in the studio.

It was clear, Roos got owned by a stronger kid, and had no ideas beyond that.

It's the problem with a pure power player, more power nullifies them.

...and it's the reason Roos needs to be smarter.

Apr 28, 2025, 20:17

Bullshit Plum you are speaking shit - Ruan Venter might have tackled Roos a few times but certainly did not dominate him. Overall Roos was the best forward on the field that game

Ruan Venter of late has been very disappointing given the expectation. I have not seen any dominance in a long while

So what is Roos putting Vermeulen on his arse evidence of huh?

Apr 28, 2025, 20:19

Moz you are lying about the Portuguese wing stripping Roos - complete and utter lie

Not that losing possession while falling down was ever evidence of a player being overpowered by another but hey ho why stick to facts or context when you have some pathetic childish agenda attached

Apr 28, 2025, 20:22

Yes Dave, I lied on the match thread, the commentators were lying when they said Venter had Roos' number and the studio team were also delusional when they discussed it at half time...

...and I'm stilling now.

Apr 28, 2025, 20:24

Yes you are lying that the commentators said that Venter had Roos’s number - that is a complete lie

There was zero dominance of Venter over Roos - he tackled him a few times but certainly did not dominate him

Roos ended the game as the best forward on the field

Apr 28, 2025, 20:37

Just like the Deysel twins….the never ending list of great players who get overlooked by stupid coaches. Hold on they and Roos have been overlooked by the genius. Is he also lying

Apr 28, 2025, 21:11

Mozart

Your playe a;;egationmsare based on BS aand prejudice

Apr 28, 2025, 21:23

Come again.

Apr 28, 2025, 22:26

Roos has not been overlooked he has his whole career ahead of him and on current form will definitely be part of Rassie’s plans this season

The man in on fire both physically and on attack

Apr 29, 2025, 08:42

Its hard to tell if Roos is really so much better than before his injury ….

I think that Roos and Hanekom in the starting loose trio together with PSDT, should be something that Rassie must try out.

Or with Jasper Wiese….with the older incumbents on the Bench as Back up.

Apr 29, 2025, 09:08

...Roos should paly at 12.

He has exactly what I would want from a 12...and he keeps up with play nicely.

Anyhoos, there's this...timestamp 1:43

Apr 29, 2025, 09:28

This guy make’s me laugh :) but quite a good speaker….

The Bakkies joke :)

Its true what he is saying.

Ever since Brown joined the Boks,

you see players like Kollisi or PSDT more involved in the back line.

Apr 29, 2025, 11:17

Van Staden is playing well ATM, but I don't think he's the solution...he is in Rassie's good books so he'll probably get the nod.

Apr 29, 2025, 13:47

Yeah, Van Staden is good off the back of the scrum, but his general play is laboured and he doesn't get involved enough for my liking.

I'd rather have Roos or Hanekom any day. I was simply making a point about how a smasher looks when he's smashing.

May 01, 2025, 09:14

Back to reality. Snyman is apparently injured again - in a report it was stated that Leinster is sweeting about his avalablity this coming wekend and the report did not indicate wat the poblem with him is.

May 01, 2025, 10:54

Ja Plum...good vid and he's right...we already have a flanker playing 12 and a center playing at 6 .... :-)

May 01, 2025, 11:49

The hybrid player is for sure a thing.

So much for old Dave the guru claiming that an 8 can never play in the backline because he has 8 on his jersey.

Apparently some of the top teams in the world are doing it and with some success.

I guess those coaches and players that are partaking must be just as "clueless" as I am, ne Dave?

...starts to look at little different now that we realise it's already being done.

Mobile, powerful, excellent hands, full of fight...Roos for 12!!!

May 01, 2025, 12:17

"Apparently some of the top teams in the world are doing it and with some success."

Any chance you could name some of these top sides that are playing a loose forward in the backline?

May 01, 2025, 12:56

Don't get your hopes up, he'll come back with a month of bluster or do the deep dive Hahahahaha

May 01, 2025, 14:25

Hysteria is here to make a rugby post…..oops no he’s taken a break from bashing Trump to suck up.

May 01, 2025, 17:06

Watch the video...I timestamped it for you.

May 01, 2025, 17:09

Denise likes the number 8 because it looks like the infinity sign she paints on her nails while lying on the carpet and listening to Kylie Minogue.

...we're not talking about those "sideways" 8s, Denise.
