Total Rankers for good

Hi Ruckers

We have started a pool on Total Rankers for the Rugby World Cup..
We'd like to give a bit back, to a charity of choice.
We have created a private pool called "I Give a Ruck"
It's free to join, but R200 (or $18.00) to participate.
The Pool Code is: A60FE9
Bank Details: It's in the Pool Description

The winner will get to choose a charity to which all of the funds will be donated after the RWC final.
The charity must be a registered charity anywhere globally.

All donor's must use their username as a reference when making payment.
To keep things transparent, we'll keep posting donors names and funds received on this thread (unless you wish to remain anonymous).
If you would like to remain anonymous, you can use any reference.

We're really trying to give a bit back, and this is a nice start.
We're hoping for a decent turnout.

Yours in rugga

Nice idea Ed......I'll match the total contribution, even though I'm too Bok focused to enjoy participating.

Sep 13, 2019, 21:33

nice Ed

Im in. Paid already.

Reference: chippo

Sep 13, 2019, 23:08

Nice idea Ed.

Very generous of you Moffie!

Sep 15, 2019, 17:16

I have joined - will pay the money into the account sometime this week,

Sep 15, 2019, 21:26

Is this a different one (pool) to the World Cup one? Or is this specifically about Charity?

Sep 15, 2019, 22:01

There is a World Cup tournament. but within the tournament there is a private pool for charity.

Please join us. its for a good cause.

The pool code is: A60FE9

Its R200 to join.
Winner gets to choose which charity the pool money should go to.

See you there.

Sep 15, 2019, 22:02

Funds received so far:

  1. Chippo - R200
  2. Noosh - R200
  3. Flashdakota - R200
  4. Ed - R200

Sep 16, 2019, 09:06

I'm in Ed.

If the eventual winner is wondering about which charity to donate to, may I take this opportunity to suggest Santa Shoebox

It's a charity that my company has been supporting for a few years now and it's a really good and rewarding cause. You can read up about them on the link above but basically they make up as many "shoeboxes" as they can which each include a minimum of a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a washcloth, school supplies, sweets, a toy and an outfit . . . all new and age-appropriate. These boxes are then distributed at Christmas time to foster homes, orphanages, and any other recipient facilities for underprivileged children.

People can donate items or complete shoeboxes and of course money is always welcome.

Sep 16, 2019, 09:34

Funds received so far:

  1. Chippo - R200
  2. Noosh - R200
  3. Flashdakota - R200
  4. Ed - R200
  5. Rooinek R200
So far we have raised R1000.00.
Lets keep it going guys.
Feel free to invite friends.

Sep 16, 2019, 09:36

Of course you will, Mozart.

Question is ... is this from the heart ... or are you using this platform to strut you stuff ... as usual?

We all know how hell bent you are on flattering yourself. You could easily have emailed Ed privately and asked him for the total ... we would have been none the wiser ... but I guess you were looking for praise ... a pat on the back ... for recognition ... !!

You just can't help yourself .. can you?

Oh well ... I guess the selected charity wins in the end ... thanks to your self obsessed nature.

Sep 16, 2019, 10:46

The oke who hasn't joined or indicated he will join is having a pop at the guy who's pledged to match the total contribution.

I think this is one of those times when the phrase "put up or shut up" is appropriate.

Sep 16, 2019, 10:58

Cc that was so unnecessary. Good on you moz. Don’t pay attention to Cc.

Sep 16, 2019, 10:59

"Un believable."

Sep 16, 2019, 14:25

I'm in on charities, but sorry, not this one.

My wife and I supports a black family for about 20 years now and the amount is never the same each month because we insist to know what our contribution will be used for.

I do not like the idea that the contribution of everyone is published. This is a perfect example how to create peer pressure and I do not like the idea. R200 could be peanuts for some, while for others it may not.

Sorry, I just felt that I had to say something on this topic.

Sep 16, 2019, 15:20

Thanks Blikkies. As mentioned, if you chose to remain anonymous, please use a different reference and it wont be published.

And well done on your charitable contribution to that family. I am sure they are incredibly grateful.

Take care

Sep 16, 2019, 15:34

Well ... guess I'll be staring at this thread pinned to the top of the board all competition long.

No pressure guys. You heard Redneck. We have a choice. Honest ... we either put up ... or we shut up!!

Think I'll rather shut up.

Good luck with your quest, Ed.

Sep 16, 2019, 15:43

Thanks for your well wishes.

Yours in rugga

Sep 16, 2019, 15:48

I would rather have a competition where the winners get to donate the money to themselves. :D (or to someone else or charity at their own discretion).

Sep 16, 2019, 15:54

... or like a reputable animal shelter ...

Sep 16, 2019, 16:57

Hi Sharkbok

The winner will get to choose a charity to which all of the funds will be donated after the RWC final.
The charity must be a registered charity anywhere globally.
The idea of the pool was to donate to a charity, not to oneself.

Sep 16, 2019, 17:03

Stop it okes.

I don't think you realise, that Ed is trying to do some good.

If you dont want to play, leave this thread for the good it was intended to do.

Sep 16, 2019, 17:18

I suppose you want us to take you and your wrinkled sphincter seriously?

Sep 16, 2019, 20:51

Please sign the winning check to The SharkBok Foundation

@Chippo, please note I am joking....:blush:.

Sep 17, 2019, 12:15

Did my bit to stretch Moz's finances Ed.

May I nominate Beeno or Draad, if either of them are up for it, to play on my behalf? I'll just waste a ticket by forgetting to submit predictions on time.

Sep 18, 2019, 08:21

Plum, I'll probably play, but I tend to forget making pics your best to remember.:D

Sep 18, 2019, 08:50

Shall we nominate Beeno as our champion Draad?

Sep 18, 2019, 09:19

Hi Plum

We'd like to reach you via email.

could i ask you to update your email address so that we can drop you a mail?

Yours in rugga

Sep 18, 2019, 13:11

Gosh, that sounds ominous.

Anyway, email is updated Ed.

Sep 18, 2019, 17:21

Please send me an e-mail with the banking particulars so I can deposit the R200.

Sep 18, 2019, 21:14

Ou Maiik, if you just took the time to actually read posts you'd see that Ed has explained exactly where the banking details can be found.

Read what Ed said in the Opening Post. You'll find the banking details next to the name of the pool in the "menu" section of the game.

Sep 19, 2019, 17:29

Funds received so far:

Chippo - R200 Noosh - R200 Flashdakota - R200 Ed - R200 Rooinek R200 Plum - R200

Sep 19, 2019, 21:34

I never realised it was a strict R200 contribution. Kinda thought that was the minimum.

Sep 19, 2019, 22:39

Hi Ed,

I'm struggling to make the transfer through my banking app.

Could you assist with an email to

Sep 19, 2019, 23:05

@plum, we sent you a mail last night. There is no maximum amount when it comes to charity, so your contribution is really appreciated.

Thank you!

@xavi, did you get the banking details from the pool description?

Happy to send you a mail if you are still struggling.

Yours in rugga

Sep 19, 2019, 23:08

Plum and Denny

Go make your picks before round 1 starts!

Sep 20, 2019, 02:14

Hi Ed, A message sent to you was undeliverable. It was sent

Delivery Status Notification (Failure)

Hoping you receive a newer message sent to the same addy. In case you don't receive it I just wanted you to know that all going as expected you should receive a deposit from Standard Bank either today or Monday.

Go Bokke

Sep 20, 2019, 03:01

Perhaps this charity effort could be used to fund a brain transplant to Beeno?

Sep 20, 2019, 07:22

Wonderful. Thank you Denny.

Sep 20, 2019, 07:45

Hi Ed,

I require a SWIFTBIC or  Branch code.

Also do I give £18.00

Sep 20, 2019, 08:16

"Plum and Denny

Go make your picks before round 1 starts!"

See, I need representation.

Sep 20, 2019, 08:28

Is it too late already?

I went in to GiveARuck but can't find where to enter my picks.

Sep 20, 2019, 08:42

The opening match is still 4 hours away so my guess is that picks are still open but there is just something i'm not seeing.

Can someone tell me where i'm going wrong...

Navigated to Play Total Rankers

Joined Give a Ruck League by entering code form this thread.

Can see list of other players.

Has highligthed "picked your teams" link. When i click it, it goes to...

"The next round of fixtures have not been released yet. View Leaderboard"

My guess is that its been closed as this should probably be where one makes your picks.

Doesn't something like this usually only close just prior to kick-off of the first match in the round?

Sep 20, 2019, 08:43

Hi plum

Spot on. It is meant to close at 12pm.

It will be reopened in an hour. Sorry about that.

Sep 20, 2019, 09:03

No worries ED.

Sep 20, 2019, 10:15

Cheers Ed, sorted and on its way.

Chippo - R200

Noosh - R200

Flashdakota - R200

Ed - R200

Rooinek R200

Plum - R200

xavi - R200

Nice going fellas.

Xavi, that was really kind of you to put in the effort you did from abroad.

Along with any further donations (Denny and Clevermike have also since joined the pool), we will double the total winnings along with Mozart.

Go Bokke!

Sep 20, 2019, 14:58

Is that it.......R1400....are the books closed Ed?

Sep 20, 2019, 15:31

Hi Moz
No, it's going to remain open until the end of the competition.
Some folks take their time to get out of bed, if you get what I mean.

Sep 20, 2019, 15:39

No worries.

Sep 23, 2019, 07:33

Ed, I never received that email. Just so you know.

Sep 24, 2019, 17:32

How do some people have 13 points?

Sep 24, 2019, 22:01

Hi Plum

1. If you haven't received our mail, please check your spam folder. We are happy to resend otherwise.

2. Some people have 13 points becuase (if you read the rules you'll note) underdogs get a bonus point if they win. Samoa was ranked below Russia, so they received a bonus point.

Hope that clears it up.

Yours in rugga

Sep 24, 2019, 22:05

Hi all

For those participating in the I Give a Ruck pool, please could you ensure that we receive your donation.

There are a few people who's funds have not been received yet.

If you still don't know what the banking details are, please click here (only visible if you are logged in.

For those of you who have donated already, thank you for your generosity. Our early log leaders are Chippo and Rooinek.

Sep 25, 2019, 01:29

Ed, I'm expecting the transfer to take place sometime today assuming yesterday was a public holiday but if the transfer fails today then I'll be onto the Bank.

Sep 25, 2019, 06:45

Yes, but there were only three games to pick in round 1.

Even with bonus points for all three...shouldn't highest possible be 12?

Oh man I suck at this.

Sep 25, 2019, 09:32

Its because round 2 started yesterday.

The RWC is a bit of a mindfuck as some games overlap the next round.

took me a while to figure it out myself.

Sep 25, 2019, 10:03

For someone that's patently bad at this stuff, like me, there's zero hope.

Is there a schedule?

Or do you have to simply keep checking for when picks become available?

Sep 25, 2019, 10:05

Ah, I see now what all the "chippo's avatar" comments were about.

Jurrr boet!

Sep 25, 2019, 10:51

We get a mail when with the weeks fixtures. At that point, you can go and pick your teams.

Sep 25, 2019, 10:55

Dude I'm not getting these emails. ED said to check my spam box, which I did even before he/she said to.

Sep 25, 2019, 11:06

I'm stuffed, missed the bad, that will do me.

Sep 25, 2019, 11:12

Hello, Ed?

Sep 25, 2019, 13:58

Hi Plum!

Sep 25, 2019, 14:15

ED, read the thread.

I'm not receiving your emails.

And yes, have check my spam box. There are only old messages from ruckers there.

Sep 25, 2019, 14:23

Kindly mail me. Lets see if i reply to yours if you receive it.

You can mail

Do you have another address?

Kind regards

Sep 25, 2019, 23:30

Yes, have received this time.

What do i do about the missed round?

Thanks Ed

Sep 28, 2019, 09:33

I have paid in the R200 at the FNB branch in Riversdale today.

Sep 28, 2019, 15:34

Thank you Mike.

Sep 28, 2019, 16:24

So I missed round 2 due to not receiving the email and Ed not responding to this thread enough or in time.

I guess round three picks have already been made?

Again, no email Ed.

And no, it's not in my spam box.

Sep 28, 2019, 19:38

Plum I also didn’t get a mail but it’s cos round 3 only opens on Monday I think. Relax dude.

Sep 29, 2019, 18:19

You are a very generous person with a heart of gold.

Sep 29, 2019, 20:23

Lol Mike

Sep 29, 2019, 21:03

Good on ya plum.

The world needs more of you.
I'm gonna beat that in the next charity tournament!

Sep 29, 2019, 22:41

I know we rip into each other on this forum, but hell it's times like these that make it all worth while.
All of us are just plain ol good people who enjoy taking the mickey out of others and who love the game of rugby... but at the end of the day, we mean good.

Well done to all who are participating.

Sep 30, 2019, 16:07

hey ill give 100bux AUD (about R1000) if somewins the rwc other than kiwis... lol... :D

Sep 30, 2019, 16:21

Red, its for charity. why not just donate anyway?

Bit of a poor show if your donation is only made if certain criteria are met.

Oct 02, 2019, 00:39

fair call...

in my defence im pretty generous and donate monthly to very important causes already...

that said... make it 200AUD if nz dont win...

the way the aussie reserve bank is dropping rates it might only be worth pesos soon anyway....

Oct 26, 2019, 12:00

better send me some swift code / int banking details...

Im good for my word :)

Oct 26, 2019, 12:00

better send me some swift code / int banking details...

Im good for my word :)

Nov 02, 2019, 18:20

Cool Redsman!!! Thanks for the support.

Nov 03, 2019, 05:11

This was a wonderful idea and you deserve recognition for what you did.  I think redsman is genuine in his offer and hope that you sent him the required details already.  That would take the amount raised  to over R10 000 - especially due to the generosity of Mozart, Plum, and redsman,

I think that our friend Rooinek must indicate what charity he would like to assist,  My own favourite at this stage would be the Gift of the Givers helping desperate people with water and food for both people and animals during the drought that is devastating part of our beloved   country,

Nov 03, 2019, 15:23

Hi Ruckers

...and to a  much lesser extent Rooinek.

Rooinek, you seem to have the wool over everybody. It's 2 from 2 for you.

We've raised R2600.00 so far.

If Redsman keeps to his word of contributing R1000.00, that will become R3600.00.

If Mozart keeps to his word (doubling the total amount), it will increase to R7 200.00

I'd like to wrap things up before 8 November as we are heading out for a couple of days.

Any further donation can be made to:

Bank: FNB (South Africa)

Bank Details: 62016303175

If you'd prefer to remain anonymous, please make your reference "RuckersAnon".

@Rooinek, you get to choose your charity. We'll then send validation certificates and proof of deposit thereafter.

I'm almost in tears guys.

This is honestly unbelievable. It was a spur of the moment decision that we made and it turned out fantastically. We're definitely going to repeat the competition during Super Rugby

Thank you, thank you, thank you for contributing towards a wonderful cause.

RuckersForum members are honestly a world apart!

Over and out.

Nov 03, 2019, 19:44

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part and donated so generously and special thanks to Ed and the guys at Ruckers Forum who made this happen.

If you scroll up and check out the 9th post from the top of this thread you'll see that I've already indicated I'll be donating to Santa Shoebox if I win and that's the charity I'm choosing. You can read up more about them on the Santa Shoebox website.

I would conservatively guess that this exercise will mean that around 20 additional underprivileged kids will each be receiving a Christmas shoebox containing clothes, toiletries, school stationery, sweets and an age-appropriate toy or gift.

Ed, once we have the final amount I'll be sending you an email with the contact details of the amazing lady that my company deals with when we support this charity every year and you guys can take it from there. I'll give her a heads up in the meantime that we'll be needing registration/validation details from her.

Big thanks from me for this generous and caring idea and for this great Total Rankers competition.

Nov 03, 2019, 20:47

Ed I need:

1  an account name

2  individual Address

3 Bank Name and code

4 Bank address

5 Account number

6 Routing /swift code.

I'm sorry it's laborious but the US rules are strict. Please just e mail to me directly. The funds will be sent immediately I receive this info. Rooinek has chosen a very appropriate cause.

Nov 03, 2019, 23:05

@Ed - i will update email details for me bit later in the next day or two as one on my profile I havent used in years... giving all the nasty stuff i may or may not have posted i def want to remain anon... lol...

Will get you new email shortly and pls provide same details per Moz above - we have similar restrictions. Either that or can ask mate in Durban to pay locally and I'll pay him back on return. ?

updated email - pls send me details...

Nov 04, 2019, 18:31

Fantastic everyone!

Nov 05, 2019, 11:16

I suffered a roadblock trying to transfer the funds and efforts to contact you via proved unsuccessful. Messages returned as undeliverable.

Nov 06, 2019, 00:01

But Denny...

1. We got your mail
2. We replied to your mail
3. And your funds were received (on 28 Sept to be precise)

Nov 06, 2019, 01:13

But Ed...

1. I receive your email but after I repeatedly replying to that address it came back as "undelivered"

2. After several attempts I asked Mozart to have a go, he experienced the same problem.."undelivered"

3. The transfer of funds has nothing to do with email and everything to do with a transfer request through my Non-Resident account with the bank.

Yours in rugga

Nov 06, 2019, 01:33

Hi Denny

1. We did get your mail and I did reply. Same as with moz. We replied.

2. As you said you hit a roadblock in the same sentence as you said your tried to make a transfer, I sounded as if you were unable to do the transfer.

Thanks again for your contribution.

Ed something is going awry, because I never received those messages. Nor have I got the bank transfer information pressure but I'd like to send the funds.

Love your work Ed

Nov 07, 2019, 11:36

Two days ago I sent ou an email, it was titled "Testing" with no subject matter.

Can you tell me whether you've received it?

Nov 15, 2019, 10:43

Hi Mozart and redsman

Apologies for the delayed response.

Banking info has been emailed from my personal address.
Please confirm receipt either here or by replying.

Kind regards

Nov 16, 2019, 07:03

Sorry to say nothing came through on my side.

I have resent the email via GMAIL.

Please confirm receipt either here or by replying.

Nov 19, 2019, 02:22

Received.....thanks Ed.

Nov 19, 2019, 07:31

Not to sound pushy or ungrateful, but if this doesn't get sorted in the next week or so we'll miss the deadline for Shoebox Santa and some little kids won't be receiving a Christmas Shoebox that I was hoping for.

If we do miss the deadline I'm going to choose the SPCA.

Nov 19, 2019, 16:51

Let's not miss the deadline.....the funds have been sent and  should be available this week.

Nov 19, 2019, 23:42

Hi Ruckers

@Moz, thank you! You are a man of your word.

@Rooiniek, I'll give it until the end of the week.
I'll be in touch with you telephonically so that we can arrange payment to Santa's Shoebox.

Thanks again everyone.

Yours in rugga

Nov 25, 2019, 09:37

Hi Rooinek

Please could i ask you to mail us with your mobile number.

You can mail it to

We'd like to proceed with the transfer.

Yours in rugga

Nov 25, 2019, 11:17

Hi Ed, email sent.

Nov 25, 2019, 13:49

Looks like we can do it online.

Here is a link to the Santa Shoebox donation site. You can purchase as many R400 boxes as our budget allows (if it's R7200 as indicated earlier then that is exactly 18 boxes) and as per the explanation on that site, these boxes will then go to underprivileged kids in the more rural areas who aren't in the normal delivery areas.

I'm more than happy for you to do it that way.

Nov 26, 2019, 10:02

Hi Ruckers

I am pleased to inform you that we have just donated the full R5600.00 to Santa's Shoebox.

We bought 14 showboxes with our funds which were raised.

A HUGE thank you to everybody that participated. We have made a difference to 14 childrens lives and for that we are truly grateful!

If anybody would like us to forward on the proof of payment, you can either request it privately by sending us an email or you can request us to send it by asking on this thread.

We're looking forward to many more similar initiatives.

Have a great day everyone.

Yours in rugga

Nov 26, 2019, 10:18

Great news! Thanks to Ed and the Ruckers Forum staff and to everyone who contributed.

Nov 26, 2019, 10:35

Hello Ruckers :)

This is Deb, CEO of the Santa Shoebox Project. THANK YOU all for contributing to the pot, and to Rooinek for choosing our beloved Project as the beneficiary <3

As Rooinek and Ed said above, 14 Virtual Santa Shoeboxes have been pledged @ R400.00 each. These are allocated to profoundly underprivileged children living in remote rural areas of South Africa who, because of the lack of a geographically associated donor-base, would otherwise not receive a Santa Shoebox - and quite possibly a gift of ANY nature - at the end of the year.

You've done GOOD! Feel free to contact me for further info on
