Moonrover, the pass for the try that stood was not forward.
The ball was passed flat and only went forward when it bounced which is ok. Please read the law book to fully understand!

Nonsense that ball definitely went forward from the hands - that try should never have stood
Agree there is zero doubt the pass went forward. Means wee abs also scored zero tries just like the Boks.
Against Ireland Boks scored 1 try and so did Ireland. Against France Boks scored 4 tries and Ireland 1.
But of course the hapless twinkle toe ballarina
types ignore how tinkle toe rugby doesn't necessarily amount to much.Hahahahahaha. Facts are very inconvenient things are they not!
Maybe the TMO left the second one alone
Very poor officiating at best and particularly at this level of the game.
Shocking.
Take a look at the pass in slow motion….the hands were clearly going backwards. And Moolaa
is right, the ball bounced forward, which is not a forward pass.
Ah bullshit Moz there is nothing going backwards at all it’s not even a marginal.
That ball clearly goes forward - another shocking TMO call or lack thereof
I looked at it in slow motion at least 10 times….the hands are clearly going backwards. You have the wrong concept….it’s no longer a ‘forward pass’ that was deep sixed
by the flawed notion of drift. It’s now forward out of the hands. I personally think it’s bs, but it’s the rule that is now standardly used… by the rules it was not a forward pass.
I’ve looked at it many times as well and only see the ball going forward from the hands which is exactly what the UK TV commentators saw as well
For me it’s not even a marginal call
...
as for the more than 2 phases...I read somewhere the TMO called it right away, but Barnes let play go on.
Yes this has become a real pain in the arse if the rules have been breached.
But in no way do we put any blame on the South Africans - They only played what was in front of them.
However - as we all know - bleating about it doe not change anything.
Lets up that they simplify the rules and make rugby a better and more transparent game.
I now viewed two videos from the crowd. One of what's now called a knock-on. Regardless of his hands he was tackled and the ball moves towards the 25 line, before the try
The other was of the last scrum From the near crowd side the Boks were in total dominance as the en-suing maul ended the game.

Apparently there were 4 phases and not the limit if two phases for a TMO to disallow that AB try
Well the TMO should have called back the forward pass on the try that came about 6 min later anyway. Fine lines in the game, always discussion, that's why we here.
