I’ve been watching a few games on YouTube and while the standard is pretty good I had to laugh at Mike telling us theses sides would beat English club sides

Mike a side like Saracens would put 100 points over a varsity side

Anyway it’s interesting to see the captains of each side wearing pink shorts and they were playing with a pink ball

Also there were people on the side lines with number boards they kept showing - what’s that about?

10 -15 years ago English club rugby was pub team stuff. So many teams, and with much less foreign players the local talent was spread out. It was a big jump up from club to international level at that time.

However these days many of the teams are stacked with first-choice test players from around the world including some with test experience, along with some with test potential.

A team like Sale Sharks has about 7 first choice SA SuperRugby players before these players moved to Sale.

Some of the varsity cup players are unconditioned, saw the odd fat prop running around
