Looking at the team, this might be a spanking for the Sharks.
Looking at the team, this might be a spanking for the Sharks.
I'll have a look and stick around if it's a good game.
Early score for the Sharks after a penalty sets them up for a lineout just outside the 5m.
...mails holds steady, Williams spreads it, it goes down the line and the Sharks score.
7-0
Well Sharks off to a flying start with Masuku over. Nice offload by Venter to Julius.
Mchunu with a strong run.
Penaud slipping past Masuku like he's not even there.
Another one for the Sharks!!!
Lovely play that one.
In the corner this time.
Breaking through the middle, Julius making a lovely run, a quick ruck and they're in at the corner.
12-0
Man, Sharks are on fire. Great backplay, strong run by Julius and Sharks 15 over. 12-0
Sharks scrum owned.
Sharks again look like they wanna run everything.
Defensive scrum now.
Sharks wrecked...
You have to start questioning the scrum coaching at the Sharks. We've seen them struggle even with the Bok stalwarts there.
Big injury, middle of the field we have two KO'd players.
Red card coming for the Sharks
Penaud scores after Bordeaux 15
Oh yeah that looked a bad collision.
Sharks might be lucky as it looks like whiplash ...
Yellow card.
Probably fair.
12-5 as Boredom capitalise from the Sharks absolute scrum failure
Yellow and some tackling lessons for Kunene
Ridiculous that the Sharks are shown as HOL on the scoreboard. Imagine your sponsor getting preference to the actual team name.
Some good rugby here. Julius did well to hunt down Retiere.
OMG...
Scores level.
Julius away, kicks ahead, bounce favours Boredom and Penaud suddenly finds himself in open space as Penxe offloads straight to him.
Man these offloads, it's a double edged sword. Such an instinctive and instant thing that there's not really time to sum up the situation. That one should never have been thrown, Penaud was waiting for it
I think when you're on the attack, go for the offload, but when you're on the backfoot like the Sharks was there, keep hold of it and get control back.
Yeah, Pakie...why is he so desperate to keep the ball alone in that situation anyway?
Makes no sense to me
Tall lock wins a turnover penalty for Borries
Looks like they're checking the shoulder hit. Not much in it.
Probably a bit harsh with the yellow but that's the game I guess. Wasn'
Sharks moving it around well, Julius just losing it in the tackle. He had positioned himself for the gap, a better pass could have seen him through but it went slightly behind his back.
Kolisi doing an awful lot of standing around and pointing.
Sharks mess up a wonderful attacking opportunity. Not a great play by Hooker, he looked a bit pedestrian there.
Vissies not too bad thus far.
12-12 at the moment but they've spent good time in Boredom's half
Sharks over
The Shark are just incapable of protecting their own ball in the ground.
Hooker again struggling to keep his footing as he goes on the run. Looks a bit clumsy?
The Shark are just incapable of protecting their own ball in the ground.
They need a Mostert to hit those breakdowns. Noticing Kolisi's absence in those situations?
Sharks again gets robbed at the breakdown. Kolisi out on the wing.
Totally botched that overlap 5 minutes ago….ref seems to blow up the Sharks with
marginal stuff every time they get close.
Well now, by the laws Julius was taken in the air there. Should have been a yellow, yes? How different from the Hooker situation I highlighted a few weeks ago?
Boredom with a chance to take lead into half time as they get a scrum right on the Shark's...line...
Sharks have to scrum well here...
Ball is in...
Boredom get it out and score.
Masuku misses the tackle and Borries score. Run at the flyhalf
19-12
Kolisi looks about ready to retire and enter politics.
19-12 half time. Sharks still in it but they'll need better execution to stay in it.
Kolisi just gets owned in every collision.,.,hopeless
Matfield saying the Sharks need to be more direct....
Only problem with that is that they're failing to protect the ball.
Do we have one top notch fetcher….Hannekom is pretty good, but more in the Vermeulen mold. A good generalist, not a specialist.
Great take by Hooker only for Williams to kick the resultant possession away.
Great offload by Julius.
Great offload by Julius….Harrassmiss will never allow that.
Marx and Kwagga probably our best fetchers.
Venter competent but
Sharks kick it away as they're attacking on the 22. And now Borries score at the other end
Is it Am on in 23?
Terrible grubber into a waiting defense….and nobody had any urgency getting back. Embarrassing.
That might be the game. The little speculative stab through into the defense, rarely gets you any positive
If you compare Jenkins biceps and Eben’s…chalk and cheese. That lad might benefit from an NFL bulk up.
You grubber into space, if there’s no space you don’t grubber
….high school stuff.
Another try coming. Nope, held up.
Pepsi now with the slapdown and Borries has a 5m lineout.
And the wheels have officially come off.
33-12 to the Frenchies.
Is Kolisi even playing today?
Good counter by the Sharks but then space opens up through the middle of the breakdown and the try is scored.
No Kolisi knocks on...
Is Kolisi even playing today?
He got his leg in the way of the ball with that held up a minute or two ago. Not much else going on.
I think there is some paint I should be watching dry.
I'll give it five more minutes then I'm switching off
No Kolisi knocks on...
Crap pass to be fair. Masuku the Bok hopeful!
LOL, Sharks getting rumbled now. Penaud damn near scored an impossible there.
Yup, at 54 min, sharks down 38, time to switch off
Masuku again hopel
And now 12 darts by him to score.
Kolisi seems to be disrupting the backline. Another pass goes astray as they tried to skip him.
Am looks so out of shape.
Julius’ offload should never have been thrown…like the brilliant one earlier, but at the wrong time
Well my streams are acting up so I'm calling it a day as well. Can't see the Sharks sneaking back into this.
You think?
Man Kolisi is useless on the deck.
It's a bold prediction, I know.
That's all South African teams out of the Champions Cup then?
Most embarrassing try ever….our boys should be playing in masks for disguise,
66 unanswered points. Ouchies.
Jailbird has flown the coop...
Yup, Kolisi is invisible like the President from racing said.
This guy had no impact on the game. Masuku just could get the backline going and again, see why Rassie didn't pick him.
I still think for all the the good some black players have made, it is showing that there are still quotas in the.
Machunu had a few good runs with ball in hand but man, did he get destroyed in the scrum. Suppose to be Machunu, Bongi and Trevvva and yet they gave away so many penalties and got shunted around.
Then what is the deal with the 15. He was useless for the baby boks and had no impact in his last two games.
I definitely think there is a quota policy at the Saarks
Once again, SA teams prove they can't compete at the ruck. The opposition gets quick, clean ball through multiple phases, while SA teams rely on counter-attacks.
We need forwards that can compete on the ground and a specialist fetcher/jackler.
There should be designated ball carriers and a focus on selecting forwards that are better on the ground. The Boks need to stop over obsession with runners. Runners are off no use with quick clean rucking.
With over 200 rucks per game, they far outweigh scrums and lineouts. If you can disrupt a team at the ruck, they will struggle to build phases. Quick ruck ball through multiple-phase play is how to draw in the opposition creating space around the ruck or out wide.
There must be concerns about the talent pool as many of these new players on display either need more game time, a better game plan - or they are just not very good.
How many of the guys in that Sharks team were listed as Bok hopefuls on the many lists produced in this board?
...are we starting to agree that those lists are too long and that it doesn't help just assuming everyone is Test capable.
It also proves the point they can’t go out on Saturday night by themselves, These games don’t help players and I’m sure it encourages the Frogs. Youngsters need to be phased in. The introduction of Sasha worked…he was mentally ready and playing in an experienced team.
Four youngsters even against Georgia is the max….not because the match matters, but because they learn nothing outside the test team
structure.
The grade for becoming a Bok hopeful is extremely low.
A few good runs and some hefty tackles and suddenly a guy is a Bok and it's such mystery why he isn't there.
Very few guys this season have actually held their hands up. In fact, I can count them on one hand.
On another thread I asked where the props and locks were....I got yet more lists in response, some of the names on that list played for the Sharks today. I didn't see any Bok worthy performances.
Saffex rated many of these players as shoo-ins, but they got exposed badly at club level.
The players might not have much confidence by the time the Bok international season rolls around.
Summer rugby, 12 months of non-stop rugby, what could possibly go wrong.
Ellis Park, was empty, even family & friends were absent. I know the stadium is deep in the heart of District 9,
"Four youngsters even against Georgia is the max….not because the match matters, but because they learn nothing outside the test team structure."
Exactly.
There are actually very few Bok worthy players coming through.
And they should be phased in. Not chucked into a few nothing games with a bunch of never-will-be's.
Apparently this isn't. I'm non knowledge haha
The only young Bok hopefuls in the Sharks side were Hooker, Julius and Manu Tsituka who all played well so stop speaking shit
This despite Hooker playing out of position on the wing and where Julius ended up for much of the game because of injuries else where
Mchunu is 4th in line at loosehead so hardly a potential Bok starter, he was good in general play
Rahl is a good prospect at lock and was solid. Hanro Jacobs at tighthead had all of about 15 min off the bench
Hooker did nothing. He didn't mess up but he wasn't near the game enough to even be given a rating.
Wait...he did mess up one offload instead of hanging on to it when the Sharks made a break.
I thought Mchunu was another one on your list? Has he been booted now?
Julius did what exactly? After that involvement where the 15 scored, Julius didn't do much either.
Hey, remember when you tipped Masuku as a potential Bok too?
Read above about Mchunu dumbsss

I am, even though they don't deserve my eyeballs after last week's debacle.
