Francois Pienaar's decision to take a knee in support of Black Lives Matter (BLM) at last month's Solidarity Cup cricket match did not go down well with all of his 1995 World Cup-winning team-mates, according to reports.

The 53-year-old, who captained the Boks to World Cup glory 25 years ago, is the CEO of 3TC (3-Team Cricket) and was attending the 18 July event at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Before the first ball was bowled, all players and staff present at the match took a knee in support of BLM and Protea speedster Lungi Ngidi, who had voiced his own backing of the movement only to receive criticism from a small but vocal section of the South African cricketing community.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has since thrown its full support behind the movement and formed a Social Justice and Nation Building (SJN) project that "aims to eradicate any racism, discrimination or feelings of exclusion from cricket."

The BLM movement has gained traction all over the world, with major sporting events like Formula One, the English Premier League and the NBA all making their stances against racism, discrimination and exclusion clear.

According to Rapport, though, Pienaar's decision to lend his voice to the movement did not go down well with all of his former team-mates and the discussion became so intense that it ended with him leaving the WhatsApp group made up of members of the 1995 'family'.

The article claims that some of the class of 1995 were upset by the fact that Pienaar taking the knee had indirectly linked them to being in support of BLM.

Pienaar, the report adds, then posted a long message to the group explaining his decision before leaving.

Jew Stransky (flyhalf), Morne du Plessis (team manager), Edward Griffiths (former SARU CEO) and Christiaan Scholtz (centre) reportedly left the group after Pienaar did.

Speaking to Rapport, Pienaar defended his decision to take a knee in 18 July, saying it was important to listen to the views of black players like Makhaya Ntini who had stories to tell of incidents that made them feel uncomfortable.

Pienaar said he was disappointed that the information had come out.

"What does surprise me is that the group is private but the information came out," he said, adding that over the years there had been other instances of members leaving and then returning to the group once things had "cooled down".

"I am disappointed that what was discussed on the group was leaked to the media.

"The 1995 Springboks are like a family, and sometimes families have differences of opinion."

Responding to the notion too much attention is given to BLM while the murders of white farmers does not generate enough media attention, Pienaar said that "farm murders are equally disgusting."

"In 2017, I was one of those who participated in a march after the farm murder of Stellenbosch wine farmer Joubert Conradie," he added.

"I am against any murders, rapes and corruption. Security in our country is not what it should be. People should not be afraid."

What is it with SA that in a country ruled by the majority that attention needs to be drawn to black lives mattering.

Whites make up less than 10% of the population so why are we drawing attention to the fact that the lives of 90% of the population matter when the country is governed by the majority and have been for 25 years or so.

Personally I think its all a load of shit. This whole BLM serves only to highlight skin colour and instils racism further

All lives matter - it’s obvious

In the States it’s the plight of the black man who is in the minority that is in issue and in a country run by the majority who are whites. I get BLM here

That as a staggeringly good comment.

Just goes to show, even white biggots have a soul.

In South Africa, it just sounds like another opportunity for black people to further marginalise other races and undermine Democratic values.

When a black government applies these type of values to the majority of black people, they will have understood the underlying values of Black Life Matters.

The goal of any country is to get as many people into the middle class as possible from all races. This does not happen in many countries, and Africa is probably the worst at instituting this. The political leaders and their lackeys have their hands in the cookie jar, robbing the people they are supposed to represent.

Aug 03, 2020, 16:07

The following statement is the same for the USA :-

n South Africa, it just sounds like another opportunity for black people to further marginalise other races and undermine Democratic values'.

In the USA the Democrats started the whole story for their selfish political campaign and they use BLM and Antifa as their terrorist branch. .

Aug 03, 2020, 16:14

Hey Chip chip you black bigot - you are wrong, I have no soul!

Aug 03, 2020, 16:32

Well, murder and homicide statistics taken from many multicultural cities and countries around the world all indicate the same thing . . . that all lives generally matter to white people and lives don't matter much in general to black people . . . so quite why black lives matter more than any other is a bit of a mystery and why mainly black people are insisting that any lives matter is even more . . . shall we say . . . inconsistent with reality.

I can’t think of one profession in the US where being black hurts the candidate. Companies spend time and great effort trying to find qualified minority candidates.

If you make this argument to a liberal person they will say to you that those are the successful kids....implying that the problem occurs earlier in the process. That would indicate the home or the school.

The schools for black kids are worse.....but not because of funding. The problem is the level of knowledge and attitudes already present in young kids. Which puts it in the family, or at the door of the unmarried mother....who is struggling to survive.

So it becomes a classical problem of poverty rather than race. But 50% of the population pays no income tax, which includes much of the black population. And unlike England with it’s 20% VAT....sales tax is typically around 5%, the only effective tax many pay.

In addition there are huge social support programs .... child care, food stamps, Medicaid.....paid by other taxpayers.

So what in all honesty is society not doing to help solve the problem...other people have challenges as well. And the Latino population is building a successful society with much less help.

Black leaders have to see the light and rebuild their society from the family up....nobody would be against that. In fact it would be enthusiastically welcomed and supported by society in general. The vast majority of Americans  would love to see a solution to this chronic problem and a successful black population.

So Snorre has decided to jump on the band wagon too by accusing Loffie Elof of turning the rugby time because there was some for consortium that wanted to see him fail.

Although, Eloff has denied it and rightly so.

The guy can't find work, everyone knows he was absolutely useless and it was pretty much his assistants and the core 2007 World Cup players that got those victories

I'm so fed up of BLM, it is absolutely bunch of hog wash, we are human beens, stop talking about race or colour and look more at giving everyone an equal chance and voice.

We are competitive and live in cultural where we commend excellence.

We are also humble to help those in need

Include those who are less able

However, we look up to those who are strong to fight for us

Aug 05, 2020, 13:13

Meant to say, turning Snorre down to be his assistant because he didn't want to work under a coloured man

Unfortunately who wants to work under snorre ?

Aug 05, 2020, 20:28

I know lots of the BLM people have good and noble intentions, but most of them behave like they believe that only black lives matter and some groups should be destroyed...like a new hate group... some of them seems to be trying to usher in total apocalyptic anarchy...like stupid pawns in some weird covert power struggle...or the world has simply gone BSC.

Pieter was set up to fail? He was allowed to select his team, Jake didn't. He was allowed to select any player he wanted, Jake couldn't. He was allowed to say whatever he wanted, no other Bok coach could. He tried to remove his two assistants mid tour in 2010 and SARU had another coaching team hold emergency camps to prepare the team for the World Cup, he still received the plaudits. As coach, he insulted other cultures, rugby nations, made scores of racist remarks and humiliated SA. He was never held into account for these things. He did suffer consequences, as he became known as unemployable. He could have been a good coach, but he will never learn. It is always someone elses fault and he is always the victim.

Aug 06, 2020, 00:38

I don't know anyone who supports BLM who has good intentions. They, in my experiences, have always been either overtly militant and racist (whether black or right), or the kind of people who only like you if you are a simple yes person.

Morality is a weapon of the weak.

The book animal farm by James Orwell is a case study for black lives matter.

Like Antifa BLM are a marxist terrorist organisations. The founders are admitted trained marxists.

These scumbags don't give a fig about Blacks! They destroy black businessesand have killed Blacks.

They having nothing to say about all the black deaths in Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit and kthe demonrat cities.

They say nothing about the strategic placing of abortion clinics in black neighborhoods or the fact that more black babies are aborted than born!!!

What they are is a nazi like terrorist group that are collecting money and chanelling it into the demonrat party.

Amazingly, many of the BLM rioters are white marxists giving doubt to whether this is an organic black controlled movement.

The great thing about BLM and Antifa is that they are now bigger vote getters for President Trump than that crazy marxist loon AOC.

Only 33%if Blacks support defunding the police for obvious reasons.

Interestingly enough a recent Rasmussen poll, which showed Trump at 51%aporoval, showed Black approval if Trump at 43. Hispanic approval was at 55%.

The Dow is now at over 27,000 which is fantastic.

The far left anti American demonrat marxists have been unmasked for the scum they are.

Looking for a big win in November.

Great to see for Deputy AG. Sally Yates admitting, as did Rosenstein a while back, that she would never have signed the FISA warrants if she knew what she knew now.

She also threw the higher calling James Comey under the bus saying Comey agreeing Comey went ROGUE.

As you ignorant oaks here were informed by Master political commentator Beeno long ago, the corrupt demonrats will rat on each other and its happening??

Biden and Obummer are fully implicated.

As Trump said what will be coming out is worse than anybody imagined.

The 1%rich who pay 50%of New Yorks budget have left the city. Murder levels are up over 200 % due to defunding the city. Riots with arson, looting and murder under commie De Blouse io has been a disaster.

Now the genocidal maniac Giv Cuomo is on You Tube begging these people to come back and save the city.

Hahahahaha hahaha. The morons voting demonrat are learning a hard lesson.

So much good news about the sinking demonrats. :D

Aug 06, 2020, 13:54

Francois Pienaar is a self serving ignorant twit.

The bulk of the racism happening in this country is actually against minorities.

Pienaar was never much of a player and not really test standard. Just lucky he had some great players and a great coach.

He reminds ne of the boot licking USA "liberals" groveling before Blacks. Heck it got to the point where decent black folk couldn't take it anymore and asked these sick people to stop abaseing themselves.

Pienaar is of that ilk. Dispicable really.

I mean even ou rooitwit comes out of this far better than Pienaar. When rooitwit outshines somebody with wisdom just how dumb are you. Hahahahahaha.

Aug 06, 2020, 15:59

That's the problem Beeno.

It's masquerading as a human rights movement while concealing communist tactics and goals.

Ngidi and Pienaar take the knee while wanting us to take them seriously but one has to question whether they even know what BLM actually is. If they've even heard the founders taking about being trained Marxist and organisers.

If they claim that they do know then our automatic next question regards what right they have to demand that we support Marxists.

So one has to assume that they don't actually know what BLM is and that by default their intentions are misguided. Last I checked, following misguided people down a murky path wasn't on my list of things to do.

You'll note that the NBA players all take a knee and BLM is stamped all over the court and kit but they remain dead silent on China where there are concentration camps. Lebron James being on a billion $ contract with Nike and all. It's a joke. Lewis Hamilton falls into the same category with his chain-around-the-neck gaf....while sitting under a Merc sign.

Lewis the twat

And all the fools lap it up.

Good little piggies.

BLM = Boere Lives Matter

Aug 08, 2020, 08:26

The bodycam footage of the George Floyd arrest makes for interesting viewing. Not for a second did he attempt to cooperate with police. Resisting them from the very first order to put his hands on the steering wheel and refusing to leave his vehicle (his female passenger can even be heard telling him to stop resisting) right through to where he refuses to get into the police vehicle and asks the cops to put him on the ground. Had he complied from the start the result would have been very different. The two black people in the vehicle with him complied, got out when the police asked them to get out and they're still fine today. The knee on the neck should never have happened, but if he hadn't been making such a complete nuisance of himself it probably wouldn't have happened.

Aug 08, 2020, 08:54

It's the Barabus affect: Very bad people choosing to side with another very bad person. There are black servicemen who die who never receive any recognition. That black cretin who Obama shed fake tears for died on the same day a 20 something year old black marine was murdered. Who do you suppose the media promoted? A man with a lengthy criminal record. That over a man who was a student with distinction all through his academic career despite some disadvantages, a multi-instrumentalist and someone who was well respected by his peers. It's very sad, but this is a very common thing. It tells you the state of society. The West is culturally dead. Morally corroded to the core.

Aug 08, 2020, 09:49

Sadly so...the facts show that the world has gone completely bonkers.

Aug 08, 2020, 10:01

He was also already uttering the phrase "I can't breathe" inside the police vehicle before they got him out the other side to put him on the ground. He was doing so much moaning and complaining through the whole process, it's no wonder they didn't take him seriously when he kept up with it on the ground.

Aug 08, 2020, 12:44

As Candace Owen's says they are glorifying a habitual criminal and drug taker.

Good news is that Black folk wanting to maintain current levels of policing or to increase levels of policing has risen to 81%.

Demonrats are imploding. They are also pleading with Kaye West to get out of the race as he will siphon Black votes of the demonrats. Questions are being asked as to whether the demonrats could lose the Black vote in November. One thing is certain their Black support has gone down significantly.

I worked in Indian Education for ten years and there was a problem - the Indian school children was not as "education ready" as their White counterparts.   The same problem was found to the same degree in the Coloured community - but much worse amongst the Blacks,

The reason goers back to the pre-school environment the children grew up in and the measures we took was to have school readiness programs where kids were entered into and dealt with professionally.   The kids were provided with decent meals and were given instruction on association with other kids and some basic learning of reading and counting - essentially to get them interested in learning - something lacking in the home environments.   Scientific  evaluation of the kids involved in the programs  showed they did 80% better in schools than the children who did not go through that program.

It was not an extremely expensive program that was introduced and it worked very well.   Thousands of children benefited from it and maybe the UIS Government should introduce such programs at US schools - running at existing schools  in the afternoons.

As to BLM even that movement  is discriminatory  -  ALL LIVES MATTER.   The Democrats used the movement as an election strategy and that started months before Floyd's  death in CNN and the New York Times.   In the USA BLM and Antifa is used as a  terrorist component of the Democrats and the BLM story was spread by the major USA media and the internet to other countries,  Hence the protests and associated riots, as well as the efforts in liberal cities to capture the Police services and undermine law enforcement.  The result was a world  wide reaction and is counterproductive in countries like SA.   It caused already a stressful environment to become more stressful.

We all know what happened once the Police services are captured.    It allows bribery and corruption to flourish and law enforcement to be used against political opponents.- Obama set the example already.
